H E L P P990i users!!!
I just want to ask... is there any standby clock on this phone when not being used just like the k800 and k810 wherein u can see the time and also if u have any msgs? if so, can u teach me how to show that standby clock?
Lastly, can u turn off the special letters when typing a text such as (æ î Å) and just use the standard or basic letters just like pressing 2, it only shows (a b c 2)
please, these are just my problems, all in all, this is a great phone... mine is made in france... good thing its not made in china...

Hello to all p990 lovers. I am using p990 from 5 months. I updated my phone. My phone firmware is Phone:R9G007. Now i am getting problem of virtual keyboard. When press and hold the space button then a screen comes and dissapear within a microsecond. So i can't use this shortcut and another problem when i download a file from net then it does not show the complete mark, it gets pause and but the file download complete and open through file manager. But cannot be open through downloads in web. Any one who is facing same problem can reply me on this site or my id sunnycool88@indiatimes.com i am from india(new delhi). Thanks and waitin for ur reply

I own the se p910 and was excited to get this phone. It's got tons of features, but the UI is totally different from p910, that's why it upset alot of people. Also, the phone is slower (menu transitions, etc.)than the p910.
But beyond those negative points, it's a great phone.
-I do alot of gaming on cellphones and i have to state that this phone can play most sony ericsson games (170x208 170x220 and 240x320 the newer the game, the better). This was not possible on P910.
*Asphalt urban3 3d for w810 will actually play fullscreen at good speed.
Surprisingly, some nokia series 60 .jar games are also compatible.
-Phone reception is good, calls come through loud and clear.
-the speaker is as loud as p910
-the camera is good, even for night pics.
-the wlan works ok, it's best to switch off the power-save mode though.
-web pages can be zoomed in or out, and can be viewed in either portrait or landscape mode
Conclusion: Yes, the menu layout sucks. But once you get used to it, you'll realize it's not a bad phone.

Hi Kenny,
As suggested by I tried the hard reset and went through the whole update process again. The problem continues and the phone still shows 2 firmware...
The firmware in the phone shows as:
Phone:CXC162037 R9F011 R9GA001
PRGCXC162037_CCPU_HE_LL_NI (followed by four squares)

The guys at Sony Ericsson Customer support have still not replied back.

Hi
Today First time i saw P1i not so beautiful Features r same in 910i 32% Ram Available in 990i 14% and in P1i 68% available and only for Ram i have to pay 266-USD thats much Expensive
Now the Time Problem in Messages in Inbox And In Outbox (Delivery Status) Automaticly set hows that happend thats Very Strange same thing with My Friend
Ram Problem only Create the problems when i use the Web Other wise no problem at all
The People who is Using R9F i will suggest them dont go For R9GA
Thats My Opinion but do what else u like
Any News For R9H New Firmware?

Maybe you should buy p990i for the third time so that the phone will now be a perfect phone without bugs whatsoever and it automatically perform and do what you want the phone to do. ;-)

maybe you should try to do a hard reset and then update it again and see if that works, but there shouldn't be 2 different firmware in the phone.

Dear P990i users,
I recently tried to update the firmware of the phone. The updates were downloaded to the computer but when the same are transferred to the phone it updates till 98% and then gives an error message saying update failure... try again. Inspite of repeated attempts the same problem appears.
The firmware in the phone shows as:

Could someone please tell me why are there 2 versions of firmware, what is the problem and what is the solution. I have written to Sony Ericsson but they have not replied back.
Has anyone faced similar issues with the latest update? Please help.

This is my 3rd P990.For the first one I payed 700$.The battery was lousy and the phone crashed all the time. Plus it was very expensive.
The second one I payed 450$.This phone had the habit of shutting down but atleast it gave me a reason for it(I never accepted the reasoning).
After getting rid of it , i decided not to consider it again.
A week back I was checking the prices and the P990 was rated at 260$. So i thought even if it crashed or shutdown the price tag is good enough to have one around.
Surpisingly this one is great.No crashs no shutdowns , no hangs and the battery lasts for 3 days considering that I am on GPRS most of the time.

hi everybody! i here asking some problem occur at p990 ocassionaly,the ram of p990 can decrease when using couple day,and i end the application in tast manager also cant reclaim the memory as well ,so that it always appear no enough memory when i using wifi or online !can somebody help the ram can decrease until 0.7MB something,eventhough can not restart ,but i also need to restart it after use about 4 day because the ram become fewer even i end the application in tast manager cant not reclaim back!!!now my problem is ,i need to restart my phone every 6-7 days when i discover the ram is decrease !anybody fact the same problem ?help@

Attention P990 users:
There is a new firmware for the device (R9GA001). It fixes a lot of bugs, u can now stream videos online (youtube). However, memory is still an issue with the device sometimes when streamming. Error message will pop up and drop online connections. You can online watch video with already installed video player, but after finishing the clip, you can't go back to the video menu without closing out the player. SE still lack on this issue.

nokia bluetooth headset is locked and compatible to nokia handsets only.. same as for sony ericsson's bluetooth headset is for SE handsets only...there are generic bluetooth headsets available for any phones but make sure to test it first before you buy it....:)

wow for you who think HIGH SPEED is not working on this phone
the HIGH SPEED memory is more complitable with this phone.i have 4 GB hish speed that is more faster than the regular one on this phone.
