Hai Apocalyps,
I think ppl buy P9 bcoz it have touch screen but if you want to compare with other phone beside palm moto V9 is your choice.

thanks dudes for ur suggestions...i am currently using jog dial to move in to file manager and control panel...dudes i even formatted it twice or thrice using jog dial up jog dial down and so on formula..but it didn't work...i can go to the calibration option using dial but there it says to tap the 1...but how cna i when the screen doesn't respond to touch...now plz tell me what do u people think ...is this some hardware problem or software problem..if its software then can upgrading the firmware solve the problem and also upgrading process reqires tapping the screen???....pplz tell me what to do...if its hardware then i will take it to mobile zone for warranty claim...its my first ever touchscreen and ofcourse sony ericsson phoone..and i am all way messed up....

If your phone just froze and doesn't react to pressing any buttons, you don't have to remove the battery to restart it. Sony Ericsson P-series phones have a soft-reboot function. Just press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds and the phone will reboot.

Cellular Digital Accessory
The Cellular Digital Accessory (CDA) number identifies the software version and customization of a Mobile phone.
Customization, among others, relates to operator-customized startup and shutdown videos, user greeting, web browser's home page and preinstalled bookmarks and also language packs that come preinstalled with the phone. CDA version depends on the country of purchase as well as on the network operator.
So CDA is the main part thats tells us firmware is new or not

Before updating P990, make sure to backup your files to PC/memory card and phonebook contacts stored in phone to SIM cards. Everything stored in the phone memory even phonebook contacts will be gone after updates.

It is a great phone, but it has a number of problems that Sone Ericsson have indicated they won't solve. I really like the phone, but Sony Ericsson is too tied up to support it.
I have owned a number of SE phones and they have done exactly the same thing with every phone - they stop supporting it long before the bugs are sorted out. Also - will it really kill them to release a new feature or two? These phones aren't cheap...
There will only be one more release and I am afraid that won't be enough to fix all the issues.
I would have upgraded to the P1, but I won't be burnt again.

make sure keylock is not enabled in flip open mode. because it is also possible to lock touchscreen with the keylock slide on the left side of the phone.
if you really need to navigate to control panel, you can use the jog dial (side scroll wheel) of the phone and if you want to select an option, push the jog dial inward.

Thanks dear i also have checked this with other three networks sims thats problem by network provider i m using Telenor Sim and the customer care officer from help line She told me there is no solution this problem is in few numbers but once i read such kind of comment here in gsmarena in 990 post thats very bad thing tell me one thing y the mostly people writing here CDA number when i had Nokia i sent the mail to the (Nokia now to SE few month before) and i asked what is the firmware and what is the actual firmware Number what is firmware thats very long thing to tell but the firmware Number is Phone

but not CDA
and the peoples who is asking arround is the firmware avail philippines china and anyware else firmware update is possible on by online u cant upgrade firmware with staying offline mode so firmware upgradation is avail on Sonyericsson site but first of all u must have to download the .exe file this file is also avail at Sonyericsson site then run it in ur Pc then this process will start what u have to do next it will tell u

Ur touch screen is not working then how u will go in control pannel then in others then in setting wizzard here from u have to set all the settings agian here u will see the callibration settings
Otherwise one thing more u have to write my name SHaKeeL in search opinions then read in which my post i told about toch screen and its problem and how have to solve the problems this thing about u also can found in 910i posts with the same name thats not a big problem but i hope so u will found its solution in my post

how come the latest firmware of se p990i does not come in the same availability through out the whole world. how come R9G011 is not yet available in the philippines considering that the firmware can be download from the internet (website of SE)?
