They better do more firmware updates on the P990i because I'm beginning to wonder why I sold P910 for this one.

First of all I would like apologize for the long wait but now I finally have the official statement that you guys and gals have waited for, here it goes:
“In response to recent feedback from users and as a result of additional internal testing, Sony Ericsson has determined to offer a further firmware update for the P990 and W950 Walkman® phone. This move illustrates Sony Ericsson’s ongoing commitment to its existing ‘smartphone’ customers and the company’s desire to be responsive to customer feedback in order to provide an optimal user experience.
The next firmware release for the P990 and W950 will be available from the Sony Ericsson Update Service from August 2007.”

hey...i think the fone is great !! have been enjoying using it since the time i bought it.. and now is the best time to buy it, the prices have dived down bcoz SE wants to clear the stocks before they bring in the P1i...

I purchased this phone two weeks back, few good things and less down side about this phone. Somebody asked how to update the OS of this phone. I hope owner of this phone will have the PC Suit, Download the Upgrade Manager from the Sony Ericsson Site and install in ur computer. After that u can connect the phone and run the upgarde application, major part you need to be connected to internet to enable this software to download upgrade for this phone. It takes 25 - 30 mins to complete. The upgrade GUI is very user friendly. After upgrade I have not seen any major changes except the Camera Interface have some advance feature. The drawback which i faced on this phone, I have purchased 2GB Sony PRO Memory card which didn't supported by the phone, as installed program didn't run properly or photo didn't came fully. All problems i faced on 2GB card only, but it supported 1GB / 512MB cards of SanDisk. I didn't tried 2GB of SanDisk. If anybody can help on this issue of 2GB Card will be very helpfull.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH OLU!!! I cant wait to get this phone... Darn! That chinese guy from ambassador in park square 1 tricked me! I still could get that phone but i paid already! They said no stocks are available as of the moment!!! Whew! im craving to get this phone on my hands!!! I'll for the 4gig as u said OLU. I have a bh-501 bluetooth headset and i will use it as my muisc player :) tnx again GUYS!!!

i puchased a p990i twoo days before. its a very good phone. my software version is r9ec001.
the only problem i find out is volume is low.
please suggest me whether i needed a software update. also by update whether my problem will be solved or no?

can anyone plz tell me where i can find application smthing like DIVX player or anything to play any video files...by the way..diz phone very d**m heavy...feels like carrying a stoneage in ur pocket..haha...its nice phone after all..but,i miss my late N80..:(

Have anyone of you tried to listen the music via Bluetooth hand free, i connected blue tooth handfree with mobile, and played the file, and when i go into the options, and over thr is a tab of transfer sound,inside that thr is no option to transfer the sound to the bluetooth device, though it was connected, Can anyone of you can guide me on this.

as far as i know, it is not possible to download to older firmwares. the SEUS will install the lastest firmware on the server then you run the update. the only way to geta different firmware on your phone is to change the CDA version or also known as de-branding... this is very risky business,as your phone may crash...you can pay someone to do it or you can do it yourself...just do a google search on it... once the cda version is changed the update service will recongnize that this is froma different origin/region and install the lastest version of that new cda....to check what different regions/cda version are available go here, http://uiq3.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CDA/P990i

Vin: The maximum memorystick it can hold (as stated in the Sony Ericsson "whitesheet" a developers information release and from other people's experience) 8 Gigabytes. I have not verified this myself, but I have tried using 4 Gigs and it functioned without a hitch.
For the rest of you guys experiencing phone software freezing... Upgrade to the newest firmware. I have done that and I have not experienced a single "hang" in over 2 months since I got it updated.
Justin: The package does come with a wrist strap. To attach it, youll have to remove the battery cover and hook it on the inside; let the rest of the strap go through slots cut into the body of the phone and replace the battery cover.
And for Pete's sake, What if your phone is made in China or France? It will have the same capabilities. How long your phone will last will ultimately depend on how well you take care of it. People say ignorance is bliss, but at this point, its just plain irritating.
Jazzsoul: You can download a language pack that will enable you to use Chinese characters. If you will get this in your native land, you'll most probably get this at a default to your native language... If you need additional language support... go to the Sonyericsson support website and download a language pack.
Guys, lets not be to hasty with our words... There are hundreds of mobile phones around to suite your needs and wants. If you have had a valid bad experiene with the phone, open it up on the forum and try to ask for help. Otherwise, quit lambasting the phone and the users of the phone. This is a great product for people that find that it works for them well enough to be called a great phone. If you love your Nokia or Samsung or whatever you preffer, it would be best to be throwing praises about them in their respective handset page. I respect your opinion and respect mine when I say that when someone just screams "sonyericsson sucks or nokia is the best", its just not productive and is only adding to the noise pollution. Cheers.

i am very very disappointed with SE, never in P series history the price dropped to at least half the original price, i bought mine around $670usd in febuary and now it costs as much as $300 bucks, wtf!!! my p910 did better, before it was completely phased out it costs atleast $480... P990 just became a phone for the masses.. exclusivity just doesn't resonate around P990 anymore..but if its any consolation never encounterd any problem with my p990 except some occasional hanging..perhaps the reason why is SE never perfected the software they started with .. for me im switching to n95.. its back to nokia again, goodbye to SE.. to those planning to get the P1, hope price doesnt dip as much as its predecessor.
