mines r9f011 and i tried to update buy it sez that my firmware is already the latest...im from the philippines and smart lock.....is this really the latest fw? any reply would be beautiful...

First of all I would like apologize for the long wait but now I finally have the official statement that you guys and gals have waited for, here it goes:
“In response to recent feedback from users and as a result of additional internal testing, Sony Ericsson has determined to offer a further firmware update for the P990 and W950 Walkman® phone. This move illustrates Sony Ericsson’s ongoing commitment to its existing ‘smartphone’ customers and the company’s desire to be responsive to customer feedback in order to provide an optimal user experience.
The next firmware release for the P990 and W950 will be available from the Sony Ericsson Update Service from August 2007.”Cheers

Try to update your P990i software. Problems like these are already been solved by sony erisson you just need to update the software to fix any excisting & future bugs.

I use this phone from about 3 months.I never ever seen the worst phone like this.P910i is much better then this one.

thanks for your response. well, if that's the case about removing names on "to" field on create message window. that is very frustrating for privacy reasons.
about your open question, i also encountered that problem before i update my firmware. possible that ur firmware is not yet updated and that was one of the glitch on their OS.

yes you can organize msg. when in the messaging applicatin, click on the folder icon (top right ) and click edit folders, create new. from there you can transfer your msgs into that folder. it also has a "search msg" option

can anyone tell me if the p990i can organize the messages? like in the nokia phones, messages in the inbox can place in a different folders you made. does this phone can do the same feature?? hope you answer me for those who own this kind of phone......

firmware is software on your p990 that make run at a certain effiency... when you get your phone...install the pc suite and under tools run the update service. follow the instruction and the sony ericsson update servince will tell if there are updates available for your current firmware on your phone...if there is an update available install it, as it will improve your phone performance and fix any bugs. you need this update as the original phone firware has problems that need to be fixed.

everytime i open up my p990i the USB icon for file transfer always shows up even its not connected on a PC USB port even i restart it a 100X or use the master reset the icon shows up down below and when i click it to cancel it nothing happens the icon is still there well it doesnt make my phone failed or go on error it runs normally but the icon juz pisses me off have someone experienced this? please help me and tell me what to do thanks!

i have experienced what you are talking abou (how the delete bottom disappears at times when marking several msgs) you can use the delete botton on your keyborad to do this.

Hi Everyone,p990i in my opinion is one of the best phone around in the market.Its very stable and responsive.i dunno wat you people do with your sets for it to hang or freeze Or maybe you u people expect miracles out of it.Remember its only a symbian with 200mhz processor and not an intel core 2 duo.Plz be patient with this phone .Its a top class device from SE.And one more thing plz stop comparing it with se p910 cuz i have been using both these sets.p990 is far ahead.If u want longer bty life than reduce its brightness to 40-45.Turn off wlan/bluetooh.Its a very manly phone for those who think its heavy plz dont buy it,go for those feminish light toys.Love this set and it will love you.

Hi, bjohn. Well, unlike the SE series u can't delete the contacts in the 'to' new sms list. the only thing that makes it go away is if u send more sms to other contacts then the previous ones drop down the list till it goes...or leave it and keep sending sms and after about a week it goes on its own..it expires!. If anyone has another idea,I'd like to hear it cos its a real privacy issue.
Quick question for everyone. How come sometimes u can delete old sms messages in ur inbox n sent folders by marking several n the next time u try it the delete option is not there on the menu? anyone experienced this? Thanks.

I am using a 2 gig sandisk pro duo memory card and I have had no problems. Been working fine for over a month now. I did wonder why the phone didn't come with a sony branded card.

the best phone ever no hang ups what so ever i don't know what you people are doing with your phone why it always hangs but for me it doesn't hang up it has a great perfomance...i use this phone alot..
