For all yr sound related problems, just update the firmware. The speaker sound increases.
I agree with u. This is a wonderful phone. And the phone is addictive. I feel that after this phone, using a nokia or even other SE phone is impossible.
All those facing problems updating the firmware:
If the progress stops u should disconnect the phone and try again. Its safe. If after repeated attempts if there is a problem then u uninstall the update software in the PC and reinstall it.

Hi to all,Now i'm also a proud owner of P990i,its really a great phone,actually when i read all the negative comments about this phone, i get hurt,but when i purchase and use this unit it's really a dream machine
My Firmware are as follows:-
Phone - CXC162037 - R9EC001
Bluetooth - cxc162058 - R5A01
Organiser - CXC162036 - R4B03
CDA - CDA162007/2 - R4B03
Best features P990i compare to other Nokia smart phones:
1) WLAN b - though P990i have WLAN b only but the speed is very good compare to other pocket pc's and nokia smart phones which is having WLAN b/g.
2) Good Battery life,more powerful then Nokia N95,but be in mind plz disable bluetooth and WLAN and 3G when u r not using it,minimise the screen brightness to 55%.
3) Good signal reception even when signal is low ,you will not feel problem during comunicate,but if you are using speaker phone the volume is less like if you are walking outside your home.
4) Screen resolution is good
5) MP3 sound quality is very good ,but not so good when u r using rear speaker,Radio reception is good,and u can listen Radio through Speaker phone also.
6) 2 Mp Camera is good as Nokia N73 Phone.
Before i'm using P910i,and now a proud user of P990i,what i want to say is if u have CDA162007/2 - R4B03 version you will not face any kind of problem using this phone ,or surfing internet.

great phone in this price range.
its cheap due to P1.
cemera is very nice like K750i.
sound and flash is a bit weak but no prob at all.

dont worry its easy ^^ just dont forget to bakup ur important files though, it will be erased if u update ur phone so be sure to bak it all up ^_^ if u have problems just feel free to mail me.. :D

bear in mind that this is a smartphone, so there will be common issues like crashing or lags and it is unavoidable for as long as the user didn't know how to deal with those things. good thing is that SE developers team is trying at it's best to provide us the necessary updates to fix the annoyances of the phone i.e. bugs, system inconsistency, memory management, logicality and so on but not the common issues of a smartphone like hangs, lags etc. if you haven't had any PDA smartphone then it won't fit you but if you do then you can easily adapt the phones usage. taking care of a smartphone is similar to the taking care of a PC but anyway the phone is as very stable and fast as the P910 for as long as the system animations were turned off.

I must say that its a complete multimedia device which have every thing, its a true computer, and a far beter than N73 in over all features but N73 has an excellent camera.

can some one help, i am planning to go in for a p990 or a nokia n73, i am sooooo confused, i actually is bent for the 990 but, the incidents of crashing frightens me. also is the ring volume too low to be heard? and, is it necessary that one has to use the joystick for searching a contact? anticipating your views

yeah i suggest that you replace your batt to bst34 couse it has more battery life than 33..
