you can add the WEP under the passphrase section of the internet accounts for WIFI..by the way does anybody have a Orange branded P990? I am running the R7A0001 version of firmware and cant update until the Sony website have agreed with Orange to release the latest firware. Anbody managed to update yet?

just got the phone last night..i have some prob with the WLAN setting..i hv a WIFI service near by..and i have the WEP code..but how do i place the WEP code to the WLAN setting so i can get connected to the internet??can anyone help me on this..?????

Hi there. the OS is actually installed in you P990 what you want i think is the update of the OS for your phone. then you can download the software at sonyericsson site. just look for the phone support menu and then you'll find the phone update one. try and goodluck!

ok, so its not possible to change the keyboard..then is it possible to reflash the software in my country so that when i press on the cyrillic keys roman letters would appear? In other words i'll just have to make do with the cyrillic keyboard and memorize the qwerty layout. Pls help!

both were similar in specs though speed wise Windows is better because of the processor it uses it has abundant applications available unlike P990. but if logical menu, 3D animations, and functions are important, then UIQ of P990 is better. if you are used to be a windows user since before the P990 will really confuse you with it's function but if you are used to be P-series user then there's slight differences and you can live with your phone.

in my point of view... the 3.2mp camera is really confusing compared to 2mp from P990 but if you have done a research and tried looking for an N93 photo samples you'll be discovering that the N93's camera can't live even compared to K750's 2mp one. simply because the noise is extremely visible on N93 due to the small sensor and even the lens itself isn't something to brag to quality it does. while in P990 the camera quality is same with K750 and the video is better. megapixel doesn't raise the quality of the camera up. it depends upon the engineering of the manufacturer with regards to those. and i think nokia has not experience in cameras even before. but SE takes advantage with the parent sony in imaging and multimedia so they excels alot than nokia.

i'm a foriegn student studying in Russia and i just bought myself a P990i and the on-board keyboard is cyrillic. is it possible to replace it with a QWERTY keyboard in the local SE shops in my own country? Pls help shed some light on this!!!

i was the biggest nokia fan ever i've owned n70 to n91 to 9500 to n93 wich is the greatest of all nokias but when i first tried the a SE phone i noticed it's a lot easier and user freindly than the nokias, sound quality great, camera great and at alower price with good quality so (i need an advice guys i own the N93 and i'ved liked the P990i alot does it worth the change thou the camera of the N93 is better 3.2 MPIX) so would any one kindly answer me plz thanks

Thanx alot hey @ Kenny,im definetly gna try geting this phone and getin software update,im totaly prepared to encounter problems after all yes its an OS phone so its got alot more to deal with than a Java phone

thank you so much for responding fast! now i know the real problem of P990 is the memory management. i think the RAM should have doubled in the next P-series because the OS itself requires more memory because of the graphics animation in menu(SVG which makes this OS like no other). but the firmware R9 did improve very well as i heard from all UIQ 3 phone threads. if there's only way to upgrade the RAM of the SE UIQ 3 phones just like PCs lol! but now i think SE already knew the problems and hope they will improve later the RAM, processor and OS in their new walkman,cybershot messenger and PDA series UIQ phones.

the firmware update will be necessary if bugs are encountered. but if you read the rest of the postings here using the R9 firmware version. the feedbacks are positive. it depends upon your decision. but bear in mind that this is OS powered. so expect same problems as any other smartphones do. even PCs in fact. but in firmware updates the problems are resolved 90%...

after owning a SE W800 and nw W900 i feel lyk P990 would be a great upgrade but im put-off by everyones firmware complaints

Hi everyone,im currently using the great SonyEricsson W900 and thinking of getting this beautiful beast P990, what i want to know is at what resolution does the P990 record videos and also at what frame rate does it record the videos at? this looks like a beautiful phone and its got UIQ3.0 which is wat i want, BUT if this phone doesnt meet my requirments il be forced to get a NOKIA N73 or N93i and im slowly leaning to NOKIA everyday

You can edit and write new Word doc. No problem. You can also make a new Quicksheet doc. But Powerpoint - NO.
