The best phone ever made, however, the battery dont last a day.Does it have a limit as to memory stick size? Currently I have 1 gig installed, whats the biggest I can load without causing it to hang?

I paid $750 directly to Sony Ericsson to make sure that I didn't get taken on this purchase. The problem is that this phone doesn't receive a 3G signal on any of the frequencies that north american GSM providers broadcast the 3G signal on only on the European standard 2100. Sony Ericsson sold me this phone directly and their product presales people told me it would work on 3G in North America specifically, but it doesn't and they will not take it back.
They led me to believe it was an issue with my service provider Cingular, but the issue is that even though Sony unlocked the phone to work on the Cingular network, and sold it to me that way, it only receives 3G on 2100 and Cingular broadcasts on 850. So SE makes the point that since it does receive 3G (no matter how useless it is in the US) they didn't mislead me and won't let me return it.
This is my 5th Sony ericsson phone I've owned in a row, they sold the P990 to me before they knew what they were doing with it and have lost me forever. This is the worst case of false advertising I've ever seen...
If anyone knows if they plan to release a flash update for the phone that will make it compliant with a North American please let me know.

Just got rid of this phone, got a E61 instead. What a welcome relief to have a stable phone again!!!!! To anyone reading this who are thinking of geting this phone. Pls look elsewhere. This phone is not worth it. I would even say WM5 phone are much better.

I don't know has anyone encounter this before. When setting the alarms to ring in the morning and during the night you accidentally hit some keys are take it out of charger. After that, the phone puts all your Alarms on hold, you can still see the alarm screen pop up and remain on the screen. But it doesn't ring until you press on the Back button then it started to ring. I still have R7 firmware, have not upgrade my firmware yet. Anyways, ever since I got the P990i I have encounter it several times and woke up late because of this bug. Have anyone encounter the same thing like me? I don't know if this bug still exist in later firmware version?

can any one tell me which is better,imate jasjam or sonyericsson p990i?!
Does the windows media player in jasjam support all vedio files which open in windows media player on pc?? i mean is it the same??
what about the p99oi??? which vedio files support??

um . ppl .. m a bit c0nfused between p910i and p990 .. which ones better i need n urgent reply c0z ma uncle iz c0ming back in a few days .. sec0ndly iz the keypad flip detatchable like p910s .. though p990 iz the latest gadget but ppl still favour p910i .. iz that true ? .. do lemme kn0w . so that i can make a better choice .. . bye all :)

Hi guys i'm a number 1 sony ericsson user,i love their products very much,i recently got a P990i it's a brilliant phone,can someone tell me how to download the R9 firmware to my cell phone.and what are other soft ware available to improve perfomance and how to check the version of the current software in your cellphone.

this is a great phone - i've had it 4 weeks....only problem is the software keeps crashing...guess it's a new tech failure, however, when the phone works it's a GREAT toy

what is R9 update it is mere a customer satisfaction,otherwise the hangs restarts and worst no remedy i did what SE have waisted my time and patience but invain.Today i got rid of my cell for qtr the price i bought.loss off 500$.I promise to never by any SE products ad shame on u big guys sitting at SE.Even upgrades by dealers to R9 in advance is not attracting customers.////

Hi, I just bought a new p990i. I found that it has the potential to be a great phone (I really like the qwerty thumb-board).
My phone F/W is R7. I tried to update the F/W now but for over 10 times already but I still could not update. It says 'NO NEED TO UPDATE - LATEST SOFTWARE ALREADY INSTALLED!' I know that my phone F/W is outdated. What shall I do? Please help me out. If you guys have any solution just email me at snax258@gmail.com.

hi ,everybody!can some one just tell me how can i check the status of P990i when it i remove my flip?it possible ?the potential of the ram can recover until 15MB, without restarted my device?so i dont need restarted my device ,during i open an application ,exspecially using wifi to online,the ram require was so many ,so my devide will restart automatically.i dont want the devide always occurs .can somebody HELP ME ? how about firmware R9 does it solve my problem?my vesion is R7 .

I had bought P990 when it was firt released in the Philippines. I was very eager use as soon as i got hold of it. But there were software bugs appearing every now and then.
I always check the internet for updates hoping to get rid of the bugs. Slowly SE was able the get rid of them. Now having R9 firmware makes P990 almost perfect. Faster response on menus, no more occassional restarting due to low memory, Vijay golf game starts faster, no more lousy pixelated icons when scrolling the menu (flip closed) and a ready Speaker option when calling.
My only request is that the icons in Messages (the envelope icons beside the Sender Name in exact) should be improved. Icon of "close envelope" should appear when the message is not read yet and and icon of "opened envelope" when the message had been read.

Just one question, do upgrade to R9 via update service and it will automatically do it or you actually download R9 and install it on ur P990i?????????????????????
