a bigger screen will compromise with the bat life with that resolution thats why the screen is limited and if there was no keyboard the phone would have been shorter but the screen would not have been longer and it is only 1 to 2 mm shorter than p910 so whats the fuss all about? cus the p990 screen is wider and browsing or watching videos is much better in landscape mode which was not that fun on 910 cus the screen would become very rectangular.so chill and enjoy the fone if you can buy it its gr8.

good phone but why a useless keyboard instead of a biger screen would be fantastic .will keep my old p910i if it would have 2 mp camrea and wifi .

Hi, I recently upgraded this phone on orange and used it for less than 2 hours before going back to my old handset and arranging a collection of the phone by orange.

I see two problems with this handset and it worth considering this before buying a P990.

                * The keys on the QWERTY key pad are miniscule, making it near impossible to type with - So its not very good as a Blackberry?

                * And the flip function on the front makes it far to big and gives it the feel of being flimsy - In fact my girl friend said it feels like a toy.

So its not particularly good as a blackberry and i don't rate it as a phone.

Its a confused handset, i'd recommend that you avoid.

As of Nov 23, 2006, the R7A001 is still the lastest version. I tried to update my P990i thru the software updater program and it says i dont have to update my firmware, which is the R7A001.

Video is only 15 frame-per-second (like N73). I did not see in the manual that 8GB is supported (I will go through the manual again - what page in the manual by the way that it was mentioned 8GB is supported?)

It's really a smart phone. Maybe smarter than me, cause I don't know to synchronize it with my PC. Other options, like File transfer, work, but no synchronize. Does anybody know how to do it? Thanks!

As far as I know the latest firmware is still R7. I read a post here that R9 is coming up but it could be early next year.

to topebrown 7....good tip the 15 second hold down power button..Getting used to the p990 now but waiting for a 4gb memory card to arrive before giving a full testing but so far absolutly fine.Later getting the sandisk vmate to record off the tele to play on the p990 as its got 30 fps support at qvga resolution.THe most part mainly ive had to get used to is the 3 way jog dial....wen i turn up the volume it stays on screen for a few secs & on p900 used the 5 way jog dial to get it off screen by pressing back whereas on this it has a specific button for this & is not a fault obviously & just needs getting used to it..I had n80 & n70 before getting this & only using 50% briteness as this is the same as looking at the n80 on 100% briteness so saving battery even more & on this point battery for me is excellent,,so are video recording & photos as 2mp is enuf.I see future 5mp fones as not being good unless the proceessing software & top notch lenses are used plus also i only print 6 x 4 pics"most people dont even print them out "so all this megapixel war is over for me,,in the past thats all we had wen we took our holiday snaps to the developers a 6x4 print & this fone is well capable of that & macro is superb.my opinion
