I used this one for 3 weeks,i feel keyboard very durable n deserve my admiration.qwerty combined with numeric keyboard n a scroll wheel, perfect combination!my complain is i cant use all apps with wheel only or numeric keyb only.i hav 2 use touchscreen for all apps.scroll wheel is very usable, much better than D-pad sometimes.thats the reason blackberry is so successful!i'm selling my treo650 now.

I used to love Sony Erisson but the P990 has caused me nothing but grief. It keeps hanging. When I press done for a reminder, it keeps ringing me back. When I put the phone on silent, it keeps ringing me and many other awful things but the MOST awful is the Sony Ericsson Helpline "Please get off as I have other customers to serve" said Chris from Sony helpline when my update didn't work. Your firewall is getting in the way-sort it our yourself when updating the phone software says Ian from helpline. I still haven't been able to update the software and am now looking for another brand of PDA stylus mobile phones. What choice do I have when Sony Ericcson Phone Staff don't give a toss for their customers?

          All disappointed people,
I got my P990i one months ago. It is a model manufactured in April. I got a lot of crashes using the radio (mainly when poor radio signal) or video player usage, so I was disappointed too.
Since I installed PC suite (2 w ago) and the new software from their support portal, it is faster and I had no crash. So now I consider myself satisfied because the features of the phone are great. I suggest all to get the latest software.

May i repeat for those disappointed users:

It must not be P990 to be blamed for the destruction of SE's image in smartphone lineups: it must be the OS itself: symbian OS...

I think SE must finish it's agreement with symbian with their next P-series smartphone and use better OSes such as Windows Mobile, now Samsung no longer produce symbian phone due to the fact that: symbian has so many problems, the only visible advantage is the number of applications available... but the truth is that some applications makes crashes and restarts... this operating system have already scared away most customers of SE P-series... luckily some got good units but majority of the buyers were already disappointed with it... now

i bought my P990i on vodafone today, It is working fine. Could please someone lt me know if games have been removed from the entertainment. Also did you have to insert the memory card in the phone by yourself or was it already installed. I think vodafone may have given me used model.

                Hey Mide Kuti!
I've tried 4 990i handsets - 3 from Voda and 1 from Orange and they all crashed as bad as one another even though Orange assured me they had worked out all the bugs!!
It could have been a brilliant phone instead it is better used as a door stop.

                Cheers!

This is my second(and hopefully last p990i).The first one crashed 4 times in the first 4 hours. The battery life was ridiculous. It would go from 100% charged to about 25% charged in the space of 9 hours (i.e whilst I was at work). This was even without me making or receiving any calls. At times the phone would not be able to get a signal(Vodafone)whilst my other phone(also Vodafone) would be able to.I changed it within a week as it was slowly driving me crazy. The new one started off equally badly except that it only crashed twice in the first two hours.I was about to return it when miraculously it started working like a normal phone. The battery life is still disappointing. This phone was announced a year ago and Sony ericsson have had enough time to produce a sensible phone.Unfortunately they have not produced a phone that is reliable despite the numerous delays in its release date.Having said this I do like the phone(at the moment).

reite guys i brought my p990i the day it was launched and its been 4 weeks since i've got it and i'm using it i love the phone its brilliant but the only down side is the battery life it hardly lasts for a day i make calls for bout 45 mtns and half the battery power's already used but apart from that its brilliant phone i like the idea of business card scanner (not that i go around taking pic's of business card but its a cool and unusal feauture that we have not seen in any phone before) the only other annoying thing bout the p990 is the screen size resolution so with certain pictures you transfer from your pc they dont work thas the other annoying thing

                        Hi Kenny, where r u & where did u get ur p990i?

I am in th UK. I really wanted 2 uprade 2 this phone on Orange, but they said I didn't spend enough (although I was happy 2 increase my new contract commit 2 over £40 per month for data etc) ,so I decided 2 cancel my contract - and they made absolutely NO deffort 2 try and retain me as a customer!

I am now totally unsure if I should get the HTC Tytn (aka Orange SPV 3100) instead as a new contract; there seem 2 be a lot more happier cusomters with the Tytn than the P990i.

I don't know what everybody is fussin' about but I have the P990i for 2 days now and this thing is great. It never crashes on me or freezes over. Internet is really fast, Sony is the bomb. This is not my first phone with SE and this one is The One. Can't complain. P910i just doesn't compare. Great work Sony!

Its better than windows mobile phone. Although symbian sucks it drains less baterry than windows mobile phones. I love to buy p990. Price is to high for its kind.
Are they putting platinum inside or what.
Hope to buy under 400 bucks.

se p990 is a great pda phone and it is so perfect.
all the problems comes from the symbian..
I hope that the next p seris comes from windows mobile os not symbyan.

Seems like O2 are not releasing it until they sort out all the gremlins. Been trying for a upgrade for the last month now but it keeps on getting delayed. Very tempted now to go for Nokia's N73.

I got the P990i a few days back. It crashed an average of 10 times a day. I updated , now it crashes an average of 5 times a day. What is this crap. A total heartbreaker from SE. Even though Nokia phones werent my favorite ,I decided to go for the N73 and its like a wow. Sorry SE, you goofed this time.
