i 've purchased this phone only a week before and i am experiencing too many problems like the phone hanging up and restarting by itself telling that "phone restarting to improve its perfomance". what the hell does it mean?!!. this happens almost 10times a day. i have sent an email a couple of times but no reply. can anyone help me. also i wanted to know just 'cause of the competition with nokia why SE have to launch unstable phones like this which 'll spoil the whole impression on their products. waitin for a solution?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

This is the best PDA phone jam packed with inovative features. Very good portable size with incredible long battery life. I am Treo 650 envy the P990, ready to switch over, but main big worry is the bad reports of operation constantly hang. Have the problem fixed. Thanks.

mate, thanx a lot. Your article was a good one. Just a few questions. Wats the maximum memory card we can use in P990i? Is it 2Gb or 4Gb? If its 4 Gb does it work effectively in p990i? Also can we install the softwares which are available from sony ericsson wesite? for example - worldmate light, etc?? But these are also third party applications right..for eg...handysafe...etc etc....Also what is the battery life after upgrading to the most current firmware. Can some1 please answer these questions..appreciated...thankyou guys...

i will try my best to answer some of your questions.

first, you may be interested to learn i posted some things on 2006-09-25 13:06 TRK2 (around page 9). at that time i was still using the given/installed software upon purchase. like most other users here, i was also quite surprised at the way the P990i was behaving. then again, my previous mobile to this, nokia's N71 was no better. in the latter, countless software problems like hanging, stalling, shutting itself off periodically were also experienced. i sent the 71 for software upgrade and changing of some hardware parts, but the faults persisted. 71 was only in use for 3 months. i sold it later.

for the P990i, i realized that its performance has improved greatly after the software update. as one other user have pointed out, the web browser download speed is wonderfully fast. its true, a 22-page site may only take about 2-3 secs (results vary at certain times of the day; this is to be expected).

furthermore, this model is also supported by excellent programmes from SE that can be bought (see applications. you still can't find this service from other manufacturers. one thing i should also add here is that i been advised NOT TO download any third-party software onto the P990i. reason is SE is an independent maker and any external software may cause it to hang. i even use its original 4G memory stick. a bit expensive, yes, but a dealer told me that the cheaper kingston can sometimes jam the cell phone. best to spend a little bit more now than to find your phone in deep trouble later.

lastly, i am in agreement with what many users have posted recently. the latest software upgrade can render your phone a great improvement. it feels so good to use, run through the easy-to-use functions, and be satisfied.

hi everybody i just got the phone 2 days ago.and i wanna share my experience with u guys. i'm in nz. i bought the phone from a import retailer.he told me there were many versionss,p990c chinese version, p990i european version with chinese support builtin , and p990i european without chinese support. cos i read some user opinion that chinese p990c got lots of bugs such as crashes frequently. so i decided to buy a p990i without chinese support instead. it turned out to be a perfect phone, no bugs at all on my phone. seldom crashes ! amazing! the disappointing thing is the battery is very short , 950 mhz, doesnt last long at all , i have to charge it everyday, while my treo650 and nokia n93 last 2 to 3 days.and the battery cover doesnt have a button to press and pull it out , so i have to pull it out use all my strength. very wierd!! it only weigh 140 gram with flip removed! really light as feather on my hand! while my treo and n93 weigh 180 grams, really heavy! the qwerty keyboard is really really small, even much smaller than my treo 650!! really a concern for big finger people! but , the tactile feedback of the keyboard is very good, i have to press hard every keys,i mean the quality of the keyboard is better compared to my treo650, which is wearing out gradually.i dont think p990 keyboard will wear out quickly, i will comment on this at a later time after i use it for a while more. the uiq 3 interface is beautiful compared to windows mobile 5.0, it's like compare windows xp and apple mac to windows 98, because uiq 3 use 3D dimention while windows 5.0 use 2D dimention. thats why uiq 3 is very slow compared to windows 5. i got to go , comment later.

I have had this phone for 5 days now and the
only problem I have had was when I tried to
to play the Vijay Singh Golf Pro Game the
phone switched itself off and then on again
to improve performance.Anyway as I do not use
the games on the phone,I have uninstalled
them.Otherwise I have had no other problems.
I did a software update on the first day I
had it,so I can't comment on the software
that was in it when I bought it.
I have also installed Blackberry Connect
which works very well.
It has not frozen on me at all.
Call quality is excellent and earpiece
volume is very loud.

since u already have the p990i. how is it? any comments? would you strongly recommend it to other SE phone user? b4 and after software upgrade, what is the difference? would it freeze or hang like many of those that post their comments in this forum said it does? i am still holding out till asia.cnet review it.

You Can transfer your data from your old samrt phone(P910,P900 or P800)by using the old PC Suite and synchronize the data from the old phone to the PC and then uninstall the old PC suite and install the new one which coming with the phone and then synchronize the data to your new P990.
please refer to the phone user manual page 34.

you cant use the sonyericsson p990i's radio, unless you use the headset, the headset is used as an antenna,

Good GOD I have had enough of everything!!!Thinking of changing to O2 Atom Exec instead of using this phone!!!Tried to download the latest firmware but during the process of extracting the .EXE file,failure!!!Some more I read that the my phone system information as shown below:

Bluetooth : CXC 162058 R4F01
Organizer : CXC 162036 R2A04

is a branded that I could not upgrade the firmware?Is it true?What is branded?Please HELP!!!!!I need to know whether if I could upgrade the firmware so I will not change my P990i. Anyone please HELP !!! HELP!!! HELP!!!

I bought a P990i from www.buyphone.ro few days ago and I'm very impressive abut fetures has this phone. For business from my point of view it is one of the best right now in the market. I recomand to everyone.
