Whoever:
I already did as what u said,went to www.sonyericsson.com.uk to download the said software.When I am trying to run the software,a dialogue box pops up showing these messages- the magic number did not match.Please get another copy of the installer and try again.Come on,PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Can anypone here comment on the reception and call quality of this phone. I plan on buying one and want to know how the reception is and sound quality for voice calls is. Any dropped calls? Is the reception better using 3G or regular GSM Service? I like teh sound quality and reception on Nokia phones, will this be the same, better or worse? Also, most PDA Smartphones take a long time to start up and find reception once they lose reception it also seems to take them a longer time then the average Nokia phone to find reception again. Is this the same with the P990i?

indeed, as some of the posts here have indicated, after the update to version R7A001 the phone's performance has greatly inproved. its so much better and super fast...

To update Firmware/Software go to sonyericsson.co.uk click on support then select a phone,select P990i.Under software and setup select Sony Ericsson Update Service.Then download UpdateService_Inst_2.6.4.9.exe onto your PC and Install it.By installing this File it will allow you to update the software on your phone.When you have installed this you
must also install the PC Suite which comes
with your phone.When all this is done connect
your phone to your PC and follow the
instructions on screen. GOOD LUCK!

No You Can`t Backup cuas p990 Symbian Is Not Incompatible With Other Fones

You cannot do a backup and restore from your P900/910 to the P990. BEWARE!!

wow!! the business card scanner function is amazing!
you scan the card..say for example the card contains, a name, house address, telephone number, mobiel number, fax number and job title
it cleverly, attcahes it to a contact and compresses/coverts all thsi into text in your contacts fields
now that is amazing!!
and this close the deal to 3 of my custmers over the weeknd

Dear whoever,
I still can't find the firmware RA7001 at SE website as what you said.Can you please give me the direct address?Another thing I just found out bout this phone,the magnetic field of this phone is strong,believe it?Try hold anything which is magnetic base and just simply bring near the phone,when the phone is in idle mode and when the backlight is off,when the magnet base thing is near the phone,the main menu screen will come out.Try it.Cheers!!!

Everyone please post the max. available memory you have right after the phone started. What you have to do is press the "More" button and select "Status". Mine has the latest firmware and it said 15.9MB.

Hi!
Downloaded update service file but after clicking on the .exe. file it says its extracting the files and nothing else happens... Anybody got any ideas how to solve this problem?

Go to the SE website and download the latest firmware RA7001 and that will stop all the freezing and restating problems on your p990i, it has fixed all the bugs previously experienced by people.

Dear whoever,
I just bought this phone not long ago there are 2 things which I would want to point out: my P990i phone sometimes automatically restarts and after the restarting,there is a message showing "phone restarting for better performance" something like that.Is this normal?Secondly I encountered,after I access the messaging menu,I tried to tab back arrow on the screen but my phone could not do so.So I tried to off and on back the phone then it's ok.
Please HELP.My phone system information would be as below:

Can those who've been using this phone please comment on the performance after upgrading to the new firmware? Has it fixed the crashes/memory errors etc.? Anand..if you see this, I hope you can answer this questions.

Anyone know if it is possible to switch on the speakerphone before the call is answered. I used to be able to do it with the P910 but the only way I can figure how to do it with the P990 is to wait till the call is answered then say hold on and go into more and switch on transfer sound to speaker. Anyone bothered by this also?

hello thats is so great that the new vesion of the software has been released that means that there is no hanging or restarting problem and i heared abt animated icons is so nice.but the question now what about the speaker quality is it loud enough and clear like p910 or not and i want to know its equal in quality like which phone please answer me thats ma last question to buy this ginuis phone
