20990i-i strongly recommend you flash the firmware. Just download the update service from SE web site.

Jim, thanks for your response. Yes, I tried from CD and the one from SE web site (PC_Suite_for_Smartphones_1.2.15.exe) but same result. I even unstalled my Nokia PC Suite as well but no love. Now I'm working on my large contacts and about gonna start crying.. lol. Anyhow, any thoughts will be welcome.

Question: I have heard that PDA phones are very slow. Is this true? How much RAM and memory is enough for standard usage(non multimedia and gaming)? What operating system is optimal for smartphones? How would this P990 compare with Palm Treo 650 and Nokia E61 and SAMsung I320?

does any one know how i can back-up my SE P910i files into my P990i? the Back up manager for P990 has refused to accept or evn recogize the P910i files...help somebody!

i have a problem with my sony ericsson, it start to hang some of the program and also loose some of the programe, which live no option of using it. i love my phone can you advise what went wrong and what can be done to revive it as is my passion to own it.

51459 try downloading the latest version of SE PC suite from the SE site the latest version is 1.2.15..hope this helps

Cxc162058r4f01 is not latest firmware and that's what i had when the phone came. i just flashed mine, this is what i got CXC162037R7A001.
my old firmware worked fine but hang once, so i decided to flash it even i knew it was not gonna be the final perfect version by what i heard out there.
now, it seems to be slightly faster than b4 but i need to play with it more plus a overnight charging it just to say for sure.
i do agree my e61 and my p910i were a bit faster, again hopefully there will be a final perfect firmware for this hot pda phone soon. now, i'm still facing the SE PC suite problems....

I have just put the p910i and p990i next to each other with the same song on the loudspeaker. P910i wins with difference, unfortunately.

Hi all,
As a fully experienced Sony P-series owner i have to point out a few items. The p990 works slower then every other P-series. Has multiple software problems and restarts out of the blue. I have used all p-series manufactured in history and have never experienced these problems before. Now the good part: firmware upgrades wil be available at your service points most probably.So don't be afraid, the phone is still the best around and has all the connectivity this world has to offer.

frankly tellin u all guyz dere..it has got d worst spk. eva dat s.e could mak..bt its d best cellph. overall dey hav made...earph. voice is pretty gud...if ny1 plannin 2 buy..it den dun waste ur time..go grab it ! it has got everythin. dat u can..n loudspk. is also acceptable..atleast better den nokia..

Hi everyone, I just install the SE PC Suite but it kept saying "Unable to load configuration" everytime I start the program with my Windows XP Pro. Same thing happened with my M600 SE before. Any idea??? Thanks in advance.

under the compatability list p990 is not mentioned.

hey guys..just to inform u all that u can MSN using www.ebuddy.com..on this p990i without installing any software..works like normal MSN..i just tried it..worked pretty well..enjoying it very much..if u have hotmail.com or msn.com account..then u just use your password to log in..TRY IT OUT GUYS..

Thanks a ton the_gooze! Hey dude, where u frm? Im frm india, delhi. I m planning to buy a new mobile frm quite a long time, however i can not find the one of my type. I want the one which has the sound quality like w series, can b more better, same head phones. Further i want the large screen with gud camera as well. Something like, just enlarge the screen of w810i. PLZ REPLY....!!

Ive been told by optus in sydney they should have it buy the end of october. the sony reps are carrying them around its just a matter of when the networks approve them.
