well i am from india. my birthday is on 28th so planning to buy a p990 shall i go ahead im getting it at Rs 28000 . i was just reading peoples comments it seems to me the phone is having some probs.. well im worried cause i saved my money and i hope it wont go a waste? well please somebody help me i am confused . Thanx

I've had the 990i for five days now and am waiting for a replacement unit as it keeps locking up on me. The only way to restart was by removing the battery as none of the keys would respond. This has happened 3 or 4 times.
But - I do like the phone. Haven't used a PDA type phone b4 so can't compare it with anything else but when it works properly it is very good.
A bit slow with connecting to Vodafone live though. Seems to take best park of half a minute to connect.
I love the big screen - makes it so much easier to see things. The touchscreen is great too.
Just hope the replacement unit won't lock up too much. How many times is too much as all phones crash from time to time?

you are quite a person and I like the way you explained every things,Tytn is not perfect and still missing a lot of things so do the other phones and sorry for saying that the Tytn is the BEST but I still don‘t know a better phone that is why I got this and I‘m very comfortable with it .
and what is the best for you abd what do you have now ?

to all using p990i sony ericsson if you phone all the way restart sometime is couse the out of date software too slow , so now only the later software is come , quit to sony shop to up date new later sortware.
soon by lim boon keong malaysia b'worth...

Thanks for ur explanations..but i stil not quite satisfy wit ur answer of being the BEST among all..
First of all,according to the info of GSMarena,TYTN is heavier than 990i..and i believe no such phone is problems free(same to P990i. Anyway,u can read opinions on TYTN, TRION n QTEK..and u'll c there're problems within win mobile5 and other dissatisfactions in it..).For the Bluetooth function,i think it's very common for every pda phone..
About the software,until now i stil duno how to compare WM5.0 with Symbian9..can u? i think it's like how we compare between dog and cat..to me, if someone prefer WM5, then just go ahead..
Lastly,i believe there's a different btween 256k and 65k colour from the screen.. dont' u? anyway,it's my personal opinion, and i'm sure both TYTN n 990i r really a good phone for different kind of people...

HTC Tytn is small and light with all capablety of JASJAR; from the day I got it I never noticed any problems except the battery cover which is not a big deal ; it have the easiest ways to open and close the program with great keyboard which some people think it‘s useless but I don't because I‘m using it right now ;it is too easy to find name or number and the bluetooth is working just great ;and reading and writing messages can‘t be easier ;is this enough to say Tytn is the best ? by the way befor this I had N80 and it war a nightmare .

since ur statement is so clear tat no other phone can beat htc-tytn, why don't u just give us ur point (or points), why tytn can beat p990..then only we'll take ur "statement" seriously..

hey want to buy p990 but it cost in egypt about 800$ many people tell me that symbian better than os windows no windows except imate & i intersetd so much in radio fm so which beteer also want to use it in business mode also many people talk abt hanging and restarting phone plz advise me thanks

I‘ve got my I-mate (HTC Tytn ) a week ago and a friend of mine got SE P990 we loved what we got at first and now I still love it but he dosen‘t , I don‘t know much about P990 but I know this for sure non of these phones in the market can beat HTC Tytn . well exipt the camera because I think a 2mp camera should not be that bad especially in a little dark place .but I still recommend it

dr a with all due respect just bcs you had problems with this model does not mean that every phone will have problems i have this phone for 2 weeks now and working flawless even the batt life is good no hanging nothing just too good much better than the 910 even qwerty keyboard wise.

Well, totally disappointed with this mobile. My first impressions were good but this is now my 2nd handset in two weeks and unfortunately I'm going to have to change again as this one is still crashing, unable to text properly, bluetooth connection cuts out etc etc etc. Vodafone told me that it's the handset problem and nothing to do with their network. I really need a pda mobile and waited months for this P990i to come out but now regret it. I have to choose a different smartphone now and I'm not sure which make and model to go for. This has put me off Sony Ericsson and I will not be recommending this phone to anyone. Don't waste your money. Loads of problems with this mobile.

Yepp. i got got this phone 3 days ago. it will automattly restart too.. the phone is nice, but battery so shrot, need to chager 1 and half day.. not as good as i thought la.. but all the function is nice.. and.. i am thinking should i change to this to the N73??

It seem O2 UK are now giving a release date of Sunday 15th October. Very weird I suspect this date will change again as previous date given to me were always on a monday. Carphonewarehouse have this phone ona new contract but not on an 02 Upgrade. I dont get this at all. Has vodafone got an exclusise on this handest in the UK. As o2 seem to be dragging there feet. Are the any other problems that vodafone have overlooked which o2 want fixing. It al seems to weird for me and avery strange way to trade there products. Any vodafone UK customer pleased with there new P990i's ? Or is it just fullof bugs ? If not why is O2 delaying this handset further......

SE 990i has totally destroyed my opnion of SE.There r so many trail version sets n market ,full of bugs ad firmware as old as Dec 05.SE has dumpped those old dummies to sell ad we r the Crunch.In future i bet to buy a new model at least six months afterA lesson for all of u Guys----------

perhaps one glaring thing that most users of a pda/smartphone would encounter from time to time is that it sometimes resets itself. this is no different from an O2, nokia, treo and hp-ipaq. when i was using either one of these makes in the past, constant stalling, reseting, hanging, slowing down and blanking itself off when the keypad inputing became too fast, heavy; all due to a tanglement in the steps logic gates algorithm.
some friends have also spoken about this characteristic from the new generation of mobiles. basically, its the software that controls the smartphone and more less frequent than not is the occasional inconvience of being told by a dialog box that something is amiss. in the worst, a temporary shutdown is the mobile's way of telling us that the workload has exceeded its specified operating capacity.
in the case of the P990i, which i have been using in the last three and a half weeks, it is far from perfect but its still a good work tool ranking top amongst the front runners today. thus far, i have found the 990 to be reliable and dependable at all times. furthermore, its easy to get about the features and a joy to use.

The function is not quite good and it is occassionally error. Compare to P910i the P990 just fascinate by the style but the sound and function P910i more beter.
