Hey guys,
my words to the guys who are really thinking to buy this bugy phone.. they are complaining about bugs,bad sounds, poor internet connection, suddenly switching off ...etc but they are still saying to buy this phone.?? are you all blind or out of mind??? there are many better choice in the market that you can buy.. not only nokia but also HTC P3300,palm treo 750v and NOKIA N95 & N97....etc

    This is a really great phone consider the processer speed is good and the screen is responsive unlike the Nokia PDA phone which is slow to a crawl... is Great phone and mine doesn't crash like what they said.. just a matter of not hitting the screen more then once with touch screen, it will crash the system, be patient.

      hey all, i like theese phone so much but wat the hell of all theese bugs people complain abt it really want to buy it but so afraid from the bugs and low speaker my question: is there any different between france batch and china batch????!!!!
      and really wt about the speakers quality plz advice me wait for reply

        It is a very good telephone, when it works. I had problems with the language (greek), with the bluetooth sync with my computer (it did not worked), with the attachment photos to the contacts (the pic preview did not work), and several bags. In the two days that I have it, I had to remove the battery to shut it down 5 times

          It is a nice device to have but it needs to have that arabic software in order for me and so many others to utilize it fully.

            To KELLY:

            i have had this phone for over two weeks now. i live in Orange county, California. and my network is Cingular. but it still works fine. and no there is not going to be any P990a. thats for sure!

              Hey every1,
              I just got my p990 5 days ago. I have been with SE's P series since they came out with the p800. I have switched to a lot of phones but always came back to the P series. Like i mentioned in my previous post, I was concerned about the bugs in the phone too BUT regardless I bought it. to be honest, I am MORE than SATISFIED with this phone. I have never had a phone BETTER than p990.

              I would like to address some of the concerns that potential buyers have.

              @ Calla:

              The flip screen does NOT function when the flip is closed. It works the exact same way as the previous P series models. and like the other member said, u can only use the touch screen whtn the flip is opened or removed.

              @ Ravi:

              This phone is worth every penny. Thank god i have no issues with my phone. It restarted only twice since i bought it. But then it only did it because it wanted to improve the processer's speed. the phone even tells u WHY it got restarted. I do find the battery life shorter than the previous P series. I have to turn wifi off everytime or else it drains the battery like anything.

              @ Maverick K:

              Do the following to turn the flight mode option off at the start up and shut down screen:

              > Go to TOOLS
              > Then go to CONTROL PANEL
              > Tap on DEVICE
              > Click on on the FLIGHT MODE
              > There will be a check mark beside the ONLY option which asks u to be prompted about the flight mode when u push the power key. Take OFF the check mark and it will do the trick. It worked for me.

              @ Missed CALL and SMS alert question:

              That is ONE thing i HATED about the p series from the beginning. Whenever u had a miss call or an sms and ur screen was either blank or u had a screen saver on, it wouldn't notify u that u had missed something. Sony has fixed that in p990i. There are 2 ways to view it. u leave ur backlight on continously (which drains the battery like anything). OR the green light at the TOP RIGHT of every P phone starts blinking like crazy until u go and view the missed call or sms.

              @ Reza:

              I hear ya man! The speaker quality is not as great as the previous P series phones. P910i, P900, and P800 ALL had crystal clear audio when u played ur mp3s thru the speaker. This one sounds somewhat different. Its more like the Razr quality (hardly any bass). One more thing, I hate the fact how u cant go to the speaker phone during phone calls so easily. In previous series u could just open the flip and the speaker would turn on, but in this series u have to physically transfer the sound to the speaker by clicking on a few buttons.


              Overall, I love this phone. It is nearly perfect. I dont like the speaker in the phone and how u have to hit a few buttons to transfer the sound to the speaker. And the second thing i dont like is the battery life. I guess im used to NOT charging my fone for days. Although the battery does start lasting MORE longer when u turn off the wifi but it is still not that great. I end up charging it once a day, but again im fully utilizing all the features in the phone. Oh! thank god that SE came out with a SUPER RAPID charger. From 4% to 100% in less than an hour (more like 45 mins). It charges FAST. Camera, scanner, wifi, rss, bluetooth, video calling, n everything else is perfect. I wish they had trown in a POUCH in the box. I have to buy one separately.

                just to say...
                i have this phone for a 5 days,im totaly disapointed...the software had so manu bugs,it restarts every 5 minutes,i have speaked with some other people here in macedonia and they have the same problems...(all made in france)
                p990 is a disaster!!!

                    Hi Harry!

                    No, I looked on the SE website but could not find a software update for the 990.

                    I find the numeric keypad easy to use. The keys are well set apart and they seem fairly robust.

                    The qwerty keyboard is pretty small but usable if you don't want to type too quickly!

                    Still waiting for a replacement unit.

                      Its good that Nokia has announced N95 & Its good that Sony Ericsson is under pressure..... I AM DAMN HAPPY ABOUT THIS !!!

                      CAUSE........ P990's price would FALL DOWN SOON & I AM GOING BUY IT QUICKLY THAN I THOUGHT !!!

                      Well, Nokia may launch N95..... HELL, Not 5, It may even have 10 MEGA PIXEL CAM ! The fact is, I DONT CARE & I AM GOING BUY P990...... Thats for SURE !! I love this phone so much & Nothing is going to STOP me......... NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!

                        does anyone know is in stand by on P990 screen visible missed call, or recived sms notification? I know that P910 don't have that option. Screen is black untill you press button. Please anyone...?

                            Hi guys and gals, just played with p990 today via a sony ericsson rep, its amazing, to settle fears, the flip IS removable and i was listening to some music on it and it sounded great, depending on the quality of your mp3.its a dream to use,although having a p900, i knew it would be similar use anyway.business card scanner is very clever and camera/video capture are excellent, a great handset in every aspect of the market

                                Nice phone. However looks like you are unable to deflip it and TomTom are not offering a satnav solution for this handset as yet. So I'll stick with the trusty P910i ta very much

                                    Hi the goose. Hav u done the firmware update yet ? I think there should be a firmware available now. Im gonna buy 1 in october anyway. Its got fm radio and bluetooth music. Many review say sony will always fix software bug in future. So i mean your phone crash is just temprary.hopefully it will be fixed.Yes the goose,can you tell me about the durability of the builtin qwerty and numeric keyboard

                                      my girlfriend in switzerland want to buy me this phone p990 bec thats what i want, she is from geneva and she went to the store and try to find one and couldn't. the store said it wont be out until dec. or probably jan. is this indicating that the phone is that bad? sure look goods on paper

                                        If all the idots n the world become clever then SE will flop.Restart,hangs, how many times returned to vendor,they flash it ad return without warranty.If the cells arcitecture is faulty u will never be satisfied.SE should withdraw this model from market n the worlds,as it did with its batteries with laptops.Howcome very few r satisfied with it either they r beginners or telling lies on paid SE campagin.
