n80, p990i..hmm...the guy from canada is comparing apples and oranges..the p990i is comparable to the likes of atoms, universals, treos..i had the n80, and im glad i sold it..just 2 damn slow..

Heylo gUyz n gAlz..!! plz stop that fighting over n80 and p990(n80 vs p990) the guy who was saying n80 is good because he owned it. but to tell you the truth, i also have n80 and it is as slow as a snail. no doubt p990 is overall better fone than n80 even if it is coming in market after 1 year delay.
Nokia was once the best company in mobiles as all of you may know, but before nokia, there was a company named "ERICSSON" who made mobile phones in its era as the best company... After ERICSSON lack out of finance,, then nokia was the best because there were very less companyz making mobiles that time... the brand named SONY was getting its name in the electronic market and they also wanted to be in the mobile market.. so SONY teamed up with ERICSSON, named SONY ERICSSON, as a mobile manufacturing company. SONY had no technology of mobiles,but they had finance... and on the other hand with ERICSSON they are full of technology but didnt have finance.. that was the reason they teamed up to br a good competitors in market.
As you all can se that nokia's market value is going down and down day by day and Sony Ericsson's market value is increasing!!!
The N93 as you know, is nokia's latest fone, it looks like a mobile of more than 10 years ago... even the nokia 3310 was more smaller in its era and was a hitt... it looks like an old ericsson mobile.

To whom it may concern...
How you compared N80 with P990. They are of different devices, N80 not too bad but compared to P990, it still long long way...
P990 is an intelligent full PDA device with an AUTO FOCUS 2mp camera. The brother of renonwed K750 2mp, u dared to said no good?
Currently, I'm using K800i and was happy with it cos very fast responsive software (will not hanged). Camera super clear with auto focus and if you take close up macro mode, nokia camera phone had to stand one corner...
Nokia is still the No.1 market leader but Sonyericsson is catching up very fast cos having produced very good camera phone...
By the way, I'm Nokia fan for the past 10 years but lately I have changed from K750 to K800 still going strong...

This is a nice device , but after I surfed the net and saw the handset live, I decided to go for the I-Mate K-Jam, which is a very nice device( no 3G support however ).Before buying the P990 , read about the imate please.

I was shopping a few days back for a new handset. I had the P990 in mind. I did find a few pre production devices on display but the price was mind blowing. I came home and surfed the net again. The closest I found to the P990 (no 3G support, which doesnt work in Iran anyway) was again an i-mate. This time its the K-Jam. I am not sayimg the P990 is not a good device. But the K-Jam is awesome. People should check for that before they buy the P990.

I'd like to comment on this very very ignorant opinion posted by this forumer.
No doubt N80 has a better camera resolution as compared to the P990.. but you know what? P990 first announced all these features way before N80 came out. The only sad thing I could say about this P990 is the long delay.
If you maintain that Nokia is the world's leader in cell phones, you may for right.. FOR NOW. Dont you see Nokia's market share dropping? with their ever so reliable software glitches, dont get me wrong, I was a fan of Nokia donkey years ago when they were the trendsetters in the cell phone market. But it seems arrogance has gotten to their heads, and they no longer seem to care about 'CONNECTING PEOPLE', therefore SE won me over with their marvellous designs and innovations over the past years.
For your info N80 doesnt even look sleek. Yeah it may be small in terms of width and length, but definitely not the thickness, so you tell me which on would look more like an erection to people???
Having a price tag of USD 1000 is only assumed, I'm in singapore, and here they are selling for SGD 1388.. you do the maths conversions... Also, Nokia may be cheaper, but with all those pricey add on accessories to support it, you end up paying more. I repeat, I was a NOkia user before.
I am currently using SE K800i and I can say it's given me no problems at all. I was initially waiting for the P990i for its launch and I couldnt wait anymore. But hey, I'll only settle for another SE. You should take your NOKIA N80 and do a comparison with My SE K800i, and i'll show you which phones' resolution and camera images are better.
Lastly, dont be ignorant, we dont like to diss others for what phone they own, but clearly you havent done your market research. SE is a subsidiary of Sony & Ericsson DEALING only with the Mobile Telecommunications Industry. Those dealing with toys like Playstation, Home appliances any others are just PLAINLY SONY. Ericsson nowadays doesnt wireless and networking support mainframes.
That is a fact. I pity your ignorance. Period!

HI People!
I'd like to reiterate some points regarding the N80(Which I own for 2 months, Black) vs P990I.
Both phones have the same features as far as office aaplications,WIFI, and MP3 capabilities. The N80 is a perfect device for both worlds, Business users and day to day regular users!
The 1st difference comes to the Screen resolution. N80 has an brilliant sharp, crip screen,which Se doesnt! the camera on N80 is 3.2 mpx, Vs 2 megpx @ P990. N80, is much sleeker & easy to cary than the P990( which looks like a piece of ugly standard grey plastic brick), if you were to put it in a dressing pants, it looks like you're having an errection ...
Buttom line,a price tag of $1000 USD, donest justify by any mean the price of 990i, I think it is extremely over priced in comparaison to lot of other models on the market offering the same, i f not better performance and high class design such as N80, and other PPC's ( imate, HP, .. using Windows Mobile 5.0)
Nokia are the leading edge on the cell phone industry, in fact, It's their main Focus, and that's all what they make. On the other hand, SE makes so many electronic toys from cell phones to car stereos... Therfore, the quality of their products is always questionable!!! There is no brainer, u just need to read the reviews. and listen to the customer's feedback.

At our office plan to buy about 30 P990i for our office - but they must work as Blackberry emulators. I'm lloking for the full information:-Do we need to make any changes on the Blackberry Enterprise Server? If so - where do I get it with installation instructions? - Do I need any modules to install on the P990i device? if so - where do I get them and the installation instructions? - Where do I get the full configuration/ parameters for setup of the P990i device? - Where do I get the user's guide - explanations on the emulation, the matching keyboards settings,etc?
Apprecaite if any of uyou can help here.

something major you're missing about no name's N80 vs P990 comparison is the user opinions. Take a look at the N80 forum - problem after problem after problem.
It's no good cramming a phone with all the latest top-spec features and applications if you're not gonna get them all working right. The main thing you notice when you're playing with your new phone is it's performance. And after 5 minutes playing with a mate's N80, and after reading the N80 forum, I wouldn't go near it with a mucky stick.
Time will tell how the P990 performs, but my guess is SE haven't spent all these months tinkering, tweaking and perfecting it for nothing.
Contract is due an upgrade next month so it's P990 for me no question!

hey someone compared N80 and P990 here. before that, i didn't realize that N80 is so full of features:) but the design of N80 is darn ugly imo. that's the main reason i didn't pay much attention to N80. but i still won't buy N80 just because it's darn ugly :)
camera and screen resolution of N80 is above P990. but maybe P990 beats N80 on the office applications side

I bought the P990i 3 days ago in Greece for 720 euros and i have to admit that is the most amazing phone i've ever had.

Message for TK, sorry about that, your right, got that information from a mate of mine, just looked it up for myself on the net. Sorry everyone..
Anyway, I called Orange this afternoon, was like talking to a brick wall, they have no idea what's going on now. Still, am not going to go down the Nokia road, have always found that there devices have really bad build quality, they last for about 3 to 6 months, then pack up on me, also they do tend to be buggy. P990 has everything i need, gonna stick with my choice.
