i want to get this phone but im starting to change my mind from all these comments about cracking keys...i also read this other comment about getting an original phone not an AP how do we no the difference? do we ask the dealers or what? -

it is a nice phone overall, although the key feature is the design. had the phone for about 5-6 months and the 4 % 6 keys broke, but still working...all together, i'm happy with it ...

I've had mine since November 07. I absolutely love it, except for the fact that all my keys are now cracked, except for the 5 key. Im hoping that once they come out with the new models, that I can try to do a switcheroo. I bought my phone off of myworldphone.com. I haven't really had any problems with it. I even dropped it, the face plate fell off, then i clipped it back on - like brand new! Haha. Well, not brand new, but it didn't crack or anything. Anyway, it's a pretty sturdy phone like most sony ericssons - it's no iphone or rokrE6 (which I was considering before i got this phone). Anyway, if you decide to get it, goodluck and enjoy the beauty, sleekness, and fun features!

The looks and design of this phone is undeniably cool and sleek. The rest of the functions are quite ok, but it sucked real hard on the part the keys tend to crack (regardless AP or Original,mine is an Original btw).
It's even more upsetting when you send it for repair and it takes about 2 weeks ++ and AGAIN it cracks, it seems they said by Jan 2008 they will replace the cracked ones with "new batch" of keys that will NOT crack, I'm still looking forward to changing mine, and yeah, the phone hangs once in a while (screen goes black all of a sudden, and returns to normal). The slider seems ok, but the cam, with no flash it does not much good, but the picture quality is great. It has no FM radio, another big upset. Overall rating: Try to look into other phone models, but if you want to just go for sexy looks, this is the sexiest so far... ('',)

tis phone really good in style but not quality....no fm radio ..ar yoooo... i trade-in d next day i brought it..

I have had this phone for about 5 months and its such a cool phone. I love the lights down the side and how they change with the theme etc It looks so sexy and its different from a boring plain black or silver phone.
HOWEVER!!!!!!!
No matter how much i love this phone it does have some down sides. The keys cracked after two months. I sent it to Sony Ericsson direct to have them replaced under warantee but that takes two weeks which is annoying and they said it wouldnt happen again as they have solved the problem but low and behold mine have cracked again. I only text about 500 per month and keep it in a protective case and work in an office so no dirt or damage happens. Also the phone sometimes freezes or hangs and the phone slider bit feels very loose and cheaply built. i love sony ericssons but think the k800, k810, w880, w910, k850, w660 are all better built. I now have to send mine off for repair again and then look forward to it hopefully lasting til my upgrade - aaahhhh

i am the proud owner of S500i. the plus are good sound quality, the clarity of the camera,et al. what disappointed me was the absence of FM radio. So i would hereby appeal the makers of the phone to try out something to attach a camera to the said phone.

an original phone wont make a difference. i got the W580i for chrstmas. from cingular. not off of ebay or any other dealer. it's been almost 3 weeks and so far i have 4 cracked buttons. ill admit, i do text ALOT. a little over 1000 messages per day. but still. its annoying.

omg how gay...wat do u mean get a real fone??? I am a dealer n my keys have cracked 2wice after sending it away... we dont swap the keypads thats jus gay... lol wats the point???

I got s500 for christmas.it is working very well.the only major negative for me is that it has no radio.

Yo!!! Those people who are getting cracks on their keys and or bluetooths not working...I have only one comment lol ! Get an original phone! Not AP(which dealers usually swaps the insides with something cheaper)! My friend has one and the key's are perfect! Everything else works just great! Just get the pure original phone and it will be orite...
ps: Or maybe ur just pressing the buttons too hard =x! Dont rough it up xD! Just love it peace~

ive just buy this phone about one month.muzic,picture..there all awesome..but the problem is the start to crack..i feel sad about it..but anyway..i really enjoy having this phone..:)

The keys and numbers will all crack, although the light from the screen and background still shines through, so it does not look that bad. Other than that, be careful not to take it apart..it is nearly impossible to repair it 100% --I suggest not.
Be also careful with the sim-card slot--it is extremely sensitive.

I have this phone..and had it since summer. Its been greaat! I have had no complications what so ever. It is a simple phone, and beautifuly designed. Sony Ericsson phones are designed for their simplicity where nothing is complicated; the menu is well designed, the games are brain-teasers and fun, and it does not slow down..no matter how full the memory.

i've got the s500 for christmas.. the phone looks gorgeus, everything is working fine. the batt life is good (it lasts 5,6 days)..the keys are not cracking (for now).
the camera it's great, the pics are just fantastic!

I bought this phone last week,for those who have passion for fashion this phone is definitely a must in line,the camera features has better quality than K8OOi which has 3.2MP which sounds wierd coz its 3.2MP but S500i has much better quality especialy in the color saturation.The bad news is that when I bought this phone few days I had used it,I realize it hangs when you try to navigate the phone.THough I love this,but I tried to bring it back to the shop and replace it instead with K800i..Though K800i has xenon flash,it still cant replace the fashion style,especialy with the flash theme this S500 is using..So for those who plan buying phones try to read the specifications and if possible try the phones you had choose and compare them before you decide.CHoose WIsely at the end of it..You wanted to have the best that you deserve..Good Luck

i love this phone. it looks cool and sleek and elegant. when i first bought it, it was absolutely gorgeous and i took great care not to scratch it or drop it but then the nightmare came~~ the kypad buttons started to crack one by one. it was horrible!! note to other people, buy the other colours, don't buy the black colour.

i have this phone in the green its like a heaps good phone except when i connect it to the computer its stuffed and i cant put stuff on it anymore also the top 3 keys have a crack in the middle of them but its hardly noticable also i took the back of off it and i cant get it back on properly so it always falls off, other than that its a really good phone with heaps of special features and i'd recommend you get it if you're looking for a phone.
