then how come it does have a radio icon in he menu??????
I will buy it if it has a rds radio and it is not more expensive than 400 euros(a w850 costs 300 now and it has videocall AND radio)
Otherwise, I will wait for a w580 in October or get a cheap w850 again!

Well in Finland S500i will be released within three to six weeks and it will cost slightly less than Samsung U600. It does not seem to have a radio (this is basically a certainty as SE website does not list radio in the specs). However,this is fashion mobile so things like radio, 3G, 3MP camera aren't necessities (and would make the price go higher if included).
I will buy this slider if two things apply to this mobile: 1) the keypad is at least decent to use (ergonomic) 2) the plastic cover isn't too cheap-feeling.

Thsi sony erisson S500 is completely the same like the sony ericsson W580, with only one difference the w580 has 12 mb shared memory and 512 mb card included. that's the only difference!!!!!!!!!!

It will definately cost LESS than Samsung U600. One Finnish webshop lists S500i's price as 399 euros with U600 being 405 euros.

Love the black/green -version (probably the best looking slider I've ever seen; better than Samsung U600 for sure).It's nice to see that Sony-Ericsson hasn't gone along with Samsung in the slimness insanity (super slim=poor ergonomics, wobbliness if not metallic design), 14mm thick is just right.
However, I'm sad to tell you this but one of my acquaintances tested this mobile and he told me it felt really plasticy (it even made sounds due to the plastic design). It seems that only LG seems to be on the right track making its Shine using metal.
As for 3G, you are right in saying that 3G should probably be included but don't forget that putting it (and HDSPA and what not) in a new mobile will amp up the price sky high. Not everyone wants to pay +500 dollars for their mobile, you know. Moreover, this isn't a smart phone, so 3G isn't a life-or-death addition.
I'd probably rank this mobile as one of the top sliders around (haven't tested it though). The design is way better to that of Samsung U600 and, being a Sony-Ericsson, the camera, although only 2MP, should be above-avarage. Had S-E used metal in the design, I probably would have preordered it this instant. However, the eye-candy design and the fact that, unlike Samsung did with U600, ergonomics aren't bad, makes this probably a good buy. Yes, there are also Motorola sliders but the fact still remains that Motos tend to be overpriced and overhyped with not-the-best UIs and those flat keypads (that I don't like).

My upgrade is due next month. Do i wait until what should be august for this phone to come out?
There isnt much on the market in terms of design and functionality at the moment.
In my view the only competitors being the N95 and U600, but everyone has one and i like originality. So i think i will wait. I just hope it comes out sooner rather than later.

Smart-looking s500 breaks no records. Lack of cybershot cam, flash and RDS FM radio makes it a no no for me
