don't put under general silent mode but go to tingtone volume and set to 0 and you be able to take pictures without shutter sound.

mar maybe your phone is just low-batt and "hung" ..... you just need to re-charge your phone

i've already bought a 2nd hand S700i here in the phillipines p29k .... brand new ones are around 33thousand phillipine pesos .... p56=US$1

i had the phone for a few days and it broke on me already! it just shut it self down. the screen goes black and it wont turn off unless i disconnect the battery. nothing works!!! anyone know anything? or how to fix it? now i have to send it in and pay for it to get shipped

I love this S700i.But i don't know to get it here in my country(NIGERIA).I was wondering if anyone knows how i can get it without having to fill in billing payment forms online.it sucks.Is there any one who can sell the sony ericsson S700i to me?my add is swtqtnel@yahoo.com.pls reply.

Perhaps I'm the only one around who didn't quite like the phone. Got it recently but returned it. Impressed by pic quality and technology but phone a bit bulky. Didn't relish the idea of having to twist the phone open just to txt! Copying from Phone to SIM card resulted in 3 duplicate entries!! Possibly problem with the handset or the phone itself I don't know. So I returned it. Love Sony but this one disappointed.

The screen is amazing, picture quality is v. good. However, some of the best things sony had in their older models.. T610, p900 are not avalible in the S700... MY RECOMENDATION IS WAIT. wait for the S710, hopfully sony will fix the minor problems that this phone has.... I am a big fan of sonyericsson phones and very disapointed with this phone and its price

The phone is really good but not perfect. The features are great but what really sucks is that one is not able to turn off this silly shutter sound when taking pictures. There are three possible sounds but no option like "off" or "silent". Even when the phone is in general silent mode it makes this quite loud noise!
So the usage of the camera is some kind of limited. You cannot use it in a place where noises disturb (e.g. univerity auditorium, library, museum). I hope there is some firmware hack available on the web to solve this issue.

Yeah.. tis phone rocks.. only catch is its size.. but i'm gettin all the attention juz by carryin this mobile. :)
Sync over infra-red work perfectly for me. i aint' try the BT sync yet. sync wif MS outlook is flawlessly easy. & transferrin of files is juz a click away. u gotta wait a little while if via infra-red thou... :)

I have never been happier with my S700i It is Perfect! or close to it, I have blown all my "Friends" with the nokia 7610 away with it although it is not a symbian it still rulz!!!!!!!(Get it if you are decideing what to get and it's screen is scratch proff i have tested it myself)Camera has gotten me many WOWS!!!
