No its not an i-phone, but if you want an i-phone then you get an i-phone!! But the SATIO...GREAT PHONE!!! Just recieved it today and love it already!!!

There will be phones with better tech, better features in coming days. Along with top end phones, mid range and even low end phones gone through a lot changes and with time more advance tech is becoming standard. What we really need to have is option to choose. Unfortunately with SE I don't see much option. Some people hate me for being too critical to SE, but the fact is I'm all for good things. Suppose I love how Satio looks and it's features but I don't want to pay high price for it's 12mp cam. Do I have a option? I don't. SE releases too few phones to cater to every segment and offer alternatives. We need to have more touch screen phones with 8mp or 5mp that looks cool, with symbian and andriod or just feature phone from SE. With Nokia or Samsung or these days with LG that's not the case. Some people criticize Samsung for flooding the market with similar looking phones, But they forgot to look into the picture that they are in fact good for end users. That's one reason why they are on top and making profit.

Arak, 15 Oct 2009you are right that we have the choice not to purchase , but... moreI've been using camera in my k800i (which for today's standard is medicore) in low light conditions often outside and as I can't say that those pictures are of great quality and some of them are blury, all in all I must say that i'm pleased with it's performance. As I carry my mobile all the time, I have my "camera" always with me, so when I need to take a shoot i can do it, I don't have to remember to take a point-and-shoot camera (if I had one) with me every time i go out.
Besides, mobile with camera can make notepad obsolete. If I need to, for example, copy some info at the collage from announcement from some display cabinet i simply tak my mobile and take a picture of that.
About firmware updates, do You think the same way about updates for your PC/Mac software?

funny how I can change in 1 week from Sony's biggest supporters to one of there biggest haters. (never thought it would be possible) unfortunately for sony I'm pretty active on forums everywhere so I'll definitely advice people not to buy Sony.

Freakin Vodafone Netherlands moved releasedate to first week of november...... Gonna cancel my order. Screw SE, screw Sony and screw Vodafone.... To much trouble with Sony lately and I was like one of their biggest fans.... And now they keep playing with us. Just give us a freakin releasedate. They said after 2nd week of october now that we are there its 1st week november, whats next? I'm bloody waiting so long for the Satio and when its released it will be owned by other phones....

Zales, 15 Oct 2009Well, mobile phones stopped being "just" mobile phones when... moreyou are right that we have the choice not to purchase , but in many instances we are mislead by the fake hype that manufactureres call there mobiles as the camera phones.. myself i have bought many camera phones and i cant say that even one worth the trouble to be named as a decent camera... ok only now after 3 years of experiments on our money they fianly succeded to produce saatio or pixon 12 which i can say resembles the normal digital camera , but never replace its quality ...
tell me people , how many times that you went out in the nights with friends and have a good shots with friendsa , either thay are blurred or dark , , i have almost 50GB of pictures bu mobile phones and now i regeret that i did not use a normal pockret digital camera ... always there is something wrong ..
i already have 25 se mobile phones in my collection , and its good to say that we have all in one gps , organizers , phone , alarm , camera , music player ,,, but to have them is one thing , but to make them function as required is another thing ... so tell me , how many times that you have used your mobile phones for camera or gps or wi fi and you were satisfied ??? always we see complains from the users from all the brands ...
exmple : do to all mobile forums and you can see list of complains ,,, these complains will stop when mobile manufacturers stop using croeds money to experiment there products ,,, ok another example : all the time at least a good high end mobile will have 2 to 3 updates and sometimes it wont help to improve ,,, this shows that the manufactureres are still did not test there equipmant to the full and dumped it on the crowed to be used as test sites ..
do you agree??
so we have no choice now just to accept the experimental mobiles in the market to fullfill our greed for more and more technology and this greed will never stop as long as new technonlogies emerge daily to satisfy the simple and the hungry mob

Just remember when the first car invented. Theres only 4 wheels with the chair. And look at now. The car in present day has CD, DVD, AC, GPS, Phone, Radio, TV, etc.

Fallowing your line of thoughts some commision or other authority should stop car manufacurers from releasing big 4x4 or fast sport cars because who need them. Same with big 50" LCD or plasma TV's. Here's the thought, why don't we all (you first of course) convert to farmers so we can lead simple and quiet life with only basic things that we need, like our ancestors did.
And mobile phone manufacturers aren't experimenting with uor money. If you don't need or want something you simply don't buy it, so your money doesn't go to that producer.

Arak, 15 Oct 2009as a great se ericsson fan and supporter i would like to ad... moreFor me the "walkman" function embeded in the phones is useless, because i'm using dedicated music player (iAudio i7) which is small, has superb music quality (to which even best music phones don't come close), is small and light and has araund 45-50h of battery life on one charge. But on the other hand, i don't require superb image quality of the DSLR on every day usage of the camera. And i don't want to carry bulky DSLR or i don't want to carry additional point-and-shoot camera. That's why i'm all happy because phone manufacturers prowide me with 2 in 1 solution, that is good phone with many features and decent camera. I'll be upgrading from SE k800i (which 2 years ago had one of the best camera) to Satio, so it will be leap from 3,2 Mpix to 12.1 Mpix which makes one hell of the difference.

There should be a Commission or something like that, who will have the authority to STOP releasing these unwanted devices. After all, it's a Mobile Phone, so the main purpose should be Network based, like- Making Calls, Send texts etc. IMHO- The mobile DAMN camera's will never come up to the quality of a Standard Digital Camera, not even in 2050.

You said that you can buy a Sony W290 for 280 euro ?! so why dont you pay 220 euro more than that and so you will get and awesome phone, digital camera, gps navigator, music/videoplayer, WI-FI access same as in a PMP, HD games and many more.
I just cant understand how can some people buy an Iphone for 600 euro which offers so less features and what is the most important, I have never seen a quality product from that company (I'd say the same for Samsung and LG too)

as a great se ericsson fan and supporter i would like to add some general comments on this form.
many mobile companies are working hard to bring the best camera phones to the market like samsung and sony and partly by lg and nokia.
but do we really need to pay high prices just to have a better camera phone in our mobile phones ?
this marvel (satio) will be sold around 500 Euros world wide , wheres you can get a very good sony camera like DSC-W290 with only Euros 280 and sometimes even less.
still no company have realy managed to have a very good camera in their mobiles and surpass that we we have as digital cameras in the market ,,, so my questions is , are we going to be the victims of samsung and se and nokia to use our money to experiment new mobiles every time in the market ? the answer is no,,, these companies should understand that reasonable people will not tend to purchase all the time camera phones sice 1 or 2 more megapixells are introduced in the market ,,, i hope one day mobile phone companies will realize that sales of such feature phones likle samsung pixon and se satio will not last long sice people will be fed up to be used as experiments for their new products..
i beleive that mobile phone todays success are in the music side and in their call quality and the other 3 rd party applications ,,, i believe that mobile cameras have long way to go to be acceptable as a replacement to the conventional digital cameras in the market
