sony ericsson might be at the bottom and they might be struggleing alot due to its market position and may be sony ericsson split up but if they are able to jump back then!!! its would be the biggest challange for other manufacturers to stand even near their potential because you people better know that they are not going to commit the mistakes they did!!!! and we might see the wonders under entertainment unlimited in.....they are going to take over every manufacturer one by one!!!!!!!!! lol

OmniaHD will be available for quite sometime before idou hits the market. I would say it again that we can watch HD content in our computer too. Don't you watch youtube or movie trailers in HD mode on your pc? I don't have to have a HD LCD to enjoy HD video.

like i said, if you really wanted to, you can turn the Omnia's video recording down to VGA if you want, so it doesnt matter!
and and the resolution on people's computer screens is far better better than most TV's anyway, so the HD video's can be played back on your computer.
it's funny, as soon as the idou comes out, resistive screens are better, VGA is better than HD, and that 16 million pin connector is better than a 3.5mm jack.

From what some websites said, idou will have a very high tendency of using EXMOR and I really pray that it will be using EXMOR. If it's using EXMOR along with BIONZ, then I believe it will be able to record videos in D1 format without cutting a sweat. And yes, like what you stated, we can only wait patiently until May 28th for the final spec sheet and wait another 5 devastating month until it is actually release but hey, if it's a top quality product, then I won't bother to wait^^

The prototype tasted also records at vga max. Guess It will be sorted out on 28th. OPAM3430 is capable of encoding/decoding D1 videos. It make sense to have D1.

HD is still too big for standard TV, you cant watch the hd video at full quality on it but the price is more more expensive than vga video..actually i use xperia x1 right now and i transfer the x1 vga video to pc, the video quality is great and clear..that is why i dont matter if idou uses VGA video and i can buy idou coz i can reach the price rather than use HD video but not at all people can buy it...vga video consume less battery power and memory than HD video..everything has a conswequence..in theory, you are right but my opinion is from my experience..
about black strip on idou video, if you are right that idou video is only 4:3 it still doesnt matter for me as long as the quality is great...but still it is not about video resolution and video quality
i would like to ask you about my xperia, in x1 video option you can set the video on wide (16:9) or 4:3 view so it doesnt matter whether the phone screen is 4:3 or 16:9...it means there will be video option about it on idou..even x1 is not a video or camera phone.
many people use 12mp camera for photograph and also i can zoom the image at many times with clearer image than 8MP camera..it is depend on people's need if people think that 12MP camera is useless we cant offense them but it doesnt mean 12MP camera is bad..fortunetly if you visit sony site you can see the idou camera is not more expensive than 8mp camera but it has great image coz sony uses new tecnology on it...
so i think idou is very relevan for a guy who cant buy HD video phone and doesnt have lcd TV to view HD video at full quality but they will get great quality on idou..it is just about video resolution not about video quality, both are very diff topic.
to people who want to buy a phone because they want to watch video ON PHONE SCREEN, they must pay attention to phone screen resolution, it means if your video is HD resolution but your screen resolution is just 360 x 640 so your hope never come true except you transfer the HD video to HD lcd TV, it doesnt matter as long as you have HD lcd TV to enjoy the video at full quality..if you dont have it, wasting money! i prefer to buy vga video.

I've to agree with what kal said as hd recording capability is a welcomed option. But hold the phone. Omnia HD is not all perfect too. It won't be able to outshine idou in terms of picture quality. I believe anonymous(from mstL) once quoted that 12 mp produces more noise. That's absolutely nonsense as 12 megapixels allow you to capture more details. If he said 12megapixels produce more noise, then HD video also produce more distortion as it is recorded through a phone with a very small lens(like what mstL said). Therefore, it's obvious he's already out of topics to shoot at idou. So omnia HD is actually very good in terms of video recording but when it comes to camera performance, idou have the upper hand. They are both magnificent phones, it just depends whether you want to have good pictures or good videos.
As for idou's 480p recording capability, I believe it's 720x480. So idou's 3.5inch with 640x360 should be able to display it in a very nice manner. Hopefully, sony ericsson will release a firmware upgrade where it will enable idou to capture video in HD mode(assuming idou will be using the much awaited EXMOR) like what they've done with the c905(smile shutter). Furthermore, the sole reason why I am getting idou is because of it's outstanding touch sensitivity and excellent camera(provided it uses EXMOR, BIONZ processor and high QUALITY LENS).
P/S It seems Anonymous from mstL had become dumb ever since he ran out of topic to slash at the idou. All the post he've posted until now are just repetitions of what he said before and before so I don't see any reason why we should be provoked by his incompetent comments.

Of course there are two option to view the video. Don't forget your video is 4:3 and your screen in 16:9. If you choose to play it as it is, there will be black strips on left and right. If you wish to see full screen, it will be cropped to fit into the screen and you will lose some pixel at top and bottom. Its' like zooming in. You cant see the whole video. The ratio doesn't match. It's as simple as that. That is my point.
Stadard Tv(NTSC) has 720x480 resolution. You have to stretch a vga video to fit into your tv. It's 640x480, Whereas watching HD video on the same tv will look better than that even though you are not actually wacthing HD in its full capacity. Try it on PC. If your desktop resolution is atleast 1024x768 and you want to watch fullscreen video. Which one will be better, 640x480 vga or 1280x720 hd? It wont matter weather you have a 15" or 21" monitor. It's pixel count that matters. Anyways having Hd capability is not meant for watching in mobile. Then why you need 12mp? 2mp,3mp,5mp,8mp even a vga picture will all look good on that 3.5" screen anyway. We need higher resolution pictures because you will transfer it in our pc and then take print out right? Same goes for HD videos too.

my comment is... this phone was incredible... sucking all sony's technology as usual... 12MPx camera... finally realize that UIQ is dead then using same OS like Nokia & Samsung...... well...
speak of Omnia HD with HD video capability, why this phone cannot do that? all SE fans sez it's not effective coz the screen only 360x640px, so 1280x720px video is useless... hello SE fans, check your excuse, do you realize why most Nokia N-Series with QVGA screen can produce VGA videos? coz they realize they have a TV-Out and people who love to collect video of their memories on a computer will get pain in the *ss to see those pitiful small video that produce by a 5 OR MORE MEGAPIXELS CAMERA PHONE. ^^
then same thing with Omnia HD, if you're not intend to collect HD videos on your PC by your phone, just reduce the video size, don't ever excuse with memory, screen size... that's all excuses by a big resolution camphone with a stupid video recording.
or you should ask all those handycam brand to make a FULL HD LCD SIZE ON A HANDYCAM, hahahaha..... LoL

kal, 12 May 2009yes It's sort of wrong from my part to say resolution and s... morenope,my opinion about black strip is not about video resolution but way to view the video (video view option)so it is depend on video view type. if you play video with wide screen(16:9)view type of course there will be black strip but it doesnt mean the resolution is too small for the screen size you can view the video in fullscreen view type,do you ever see DVD video view option ? yes you will understand what i mean.
if the resolution is too small for the screen size so the video will be streched and the pixel quality will be distorted...try it by your self if you have CIF, qvga or VGA video resolution view them on 40" Full HD LCD TV you will know the result is..not at all people have HD LCD TV so if people transfer hd Video to non LCD TV or reguler TV or 360 x 640 screen it will be useless, they cant enjoy HD video at FULL QUALITY though they play HD video
yes you can transfer the video to PC but must i use HD video on PC screen ? nope..VGA video resolution is more than enough for PC screen
if i have HD video but i watched it on 360 x 640 screen so i just enjoy 360 x 640 video resolution and the left pixels are wasted coz the screen can only consume 360 x 640 pixels not HD pixels.the screen resolution is limited
i think VGA video resolution is very relevan for people who doesnt have HD TV and not at all of people can buy HD video phone..only a rich people and people who has a HD lcd TV will buy a HD video phone bravely..
look at mstl..i dont think he can buy idou or omnia HD, he is just a provokator here though he know omnia uses HD video..
we are better than him we will buy idou though idou can only record VGA video but with great quality..
that is my opinion..

They said 5mp is enough when Samsung, Se and Lg all released their 8mp. Now that they have a 8mp, so it's enough. Are they paying less for 8mp? It's not just the mega pixels that is increasing. Lens, processor and other components related to the camera are getting improved with every release I believe.
