Thanks a lot for your detailed reply.
In my phone in the menu>general update service option is not listed. i do not know whether this is because of sim locking to orange.
One more interesting finding in my phone which could have been experienced by other users.
If by accident you leave walkman open with the song stopped and no audio. after 7-8 hours you will be shocked to see your battery completely drained or the mobile will be switched off.
It seems SE has not taken care of this and if you forget to stop in between and forget to go to the standby mode you are in for a surprise.

Dear Friends, I have a Sony Cybershot Ws500 so I dont need a good camera-phone. What I need is a "Good-Phone-With-Good-Music-Player-Good-Headphone" and 2gb space so that I can store my 1000 mp3 files with FM.........but i was little disappointed when the store people told w200 will only work nice, if I use the 1gb micro card. SE pleeeeeeeeeeeez make the price @ 4k & the card @ 1k so i can get you @5k.........Cheaper & Cheaper........Awaiting your valuable comments!!!

The store didnt have a demo piece so i touched the w810, father of 200i and i really wished that SE should make the father's price Like a Baby and reduce the baby's price!! They also showed me some similar models of FLY they say that's teh best........but i really love the SE quality so i will stick my purchase on this cute little baby........Thanks.

5ushi has answered your question I had the same question in my mind. So if we really wanna enjoy the wireless headfon, letz all sit back at home and have experience with the other music systems!!! I guess that will be too good if w200 can update that thing removing all stupid wires with headphone!!! i checked the price at one of the stores in gujarat and the price is Rs. 5180/- and the memory card should only work with 1gb capacity and not 2gb. For RAM,
Mate, you need a firmware update. That should solve that annoying problem... Update your phone by downloading the Sony Ericsson Update Service (find it at google.com) and follow the instructions...
For Ashish, it sounds like that your phone is locked... Try the following to check whether your phone is locked (DON'T CHANGE ANY SETTINGS IN THESE MENUS OR YOU RISK DAMAGING YOUR PHONE PERMANTLY).
In standby, move joystick to right once. Then press *. Then move joystick to left 2 times. Press * again. Move joystick again to left. Press * again. You will see a SERVICE menu. Go to Service Info, and click on SIM LOCK. Your phone should have all the locks UNLOCKED for it to work in any GSM country... (USE THIS MENU WITH CAUTION PLEASE).
For those asking whether you can use a wireless headphone... Stop asking such questions~! This phone does not have bluetooth, and you CANNOT add bluetooth with a firmware upgrade (TBS -.-) So NO, YOU CANNOT HAVE WIRELESS HEADPHONES FOR THIS PHONE (UNLESS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT INFRARED HEADPHONES, WHICH CAN BE USED AS LONG AS THE PHONE IS IN YOUR HANDS AND POINTING TOWARDS YOUR HEADPHONES)

Guys.... i am facing a small problem. sometimes while playing the songs if i increase or decrease the volume some kind of a high pitched noise is coming and is stopped only when i change the song. how can i get rid of this problem?

W200 so far is the excellent phone for Walkman series I have aT630 and a Nokia 5070 so far the sounds are all ok. the radio, the mp3 player, Walkman are all good, and its cheaper here in the Philippines

Hi,
I am gonna get w200i within 2 months. I will be the first-time-user for this phone. I have actually 1000 mp3 files to keep with expandable memory i hope can fit in the 2gb Microcard & play it smoothly. I will also like to hear FM & do let me know is there any recording facility? I am basically a music-freak and just want the phone for music - out of my 100000 study, I have selected this one. I hope this will be the fine phone with a low budget...........thanks a lot........Rathu

For TBS...
Mate, you cannot obtain a better quality screen and Bluetooth on any phone (without the appropriate hardware) with a firmware upgrade... Use your head~! I just mentioned earlier that it may be THEORETICALLY possible to upgrade the UBC screen to a TFT screen from a K510, but this remains untested...
The new firmware version (to date) is CXC....... R4JA011
This may vary if you live in certain countries...
