its the coolest fone,loaded with almost every feature a person needs.i wonder y ppl buy nokia fones.they just suck. i can assure evry1 tht w550's sound quality is the best among all other fones.jus buy it wid no hesitations. over and out.

At last I've finally managed to repalace my N-gage QD for a sony ericsson w550 and let me tell u all that its a great phone and worth the money.
I've been using it for 2 weeks now. The layout and shape of the phone are great but rather thick if u wanna put it in a pocket.
The screen display is good enough and really bright in the dark.
The keypad is comfortable to use since the keys are a bit larger than other mobiles.
The camera is 1.3 megapixel with nightmode, funny frames, burst mode, and also a flashlight to help u take photos in dark areas.
The photos on a PC look nice but keeps u wishing for more and also the same for video clips.
The phone has a shared memory of 256MB and that leaves about 232MB for the user. I think its a really good memory to store photos, and MP3 songs.
The walkman is just the masterpiece of this great cell phone. The sound is really great from the loudspeakers or the included headsets and even on a bluetooth headset! This walkman application has a stereo widening feature which allows u to make the singer's voice as an echo.
It also has an equalizer with the megabass feature. You can also set ur phone on startup to use the walkman only without logging into the GSM network if u were on a plane or a place the mobile phone usage is prohibited.
The FM radio is also a good feature in this phone. It supports RDS (radio data system) which is a small text line broadcasted from the radiostation that gives u advertisements and also information about the played song or program.
Unfortunately u cant use the sound equalizer for radio. the radio supports automatic scan and auto save for stations.
In the entertainment section, you will find interesting Java Games, Music DJ, photo DJ and Video DJ which allow to edit ur files as u want.
A simple sound recorder is also located under entertainment and it also records calls.
Messaging is average for all sonyericsson phones and it supports SMS, EMS, MMS, instant messaging, and also voicemail.
the browser of this phone supports GPRS (at least in my network operator).
Infrared and bluetooth are simply compatible with all other phones and PC's and u will find no problems. You can also remote control ur PC using ur W550!
The organizer section contains alarms, world clock, calender, tasks, notes, timer, stopwatch, calculator, flashlight, and also a code memo to save certain codes and passwords.
The phone also has a great file manager in order to organize, rename, delete,and move all file types.
The phone themes are really intersting. They can change the layout of ur phone and the wallpaper completely. Orange themes are the best.
The package of the phone includes a headset, charger, menus, quick guide menus, USB cable, and also extra ear plugs 4 ur headset and also a white extra cover.
Changing the front cover was problem since it was very delicate and hard to pull out and that caused my white front cover to break but no problem since the orange one looks really great on the phone.
There are also grey and black covers available for the phone and black is nice also.
The phone could be easily connected to the PC via cable. A windows XP operating system will recognize the phone as a USB external drive.

can sumone plz help??
i hav problems using the Disc 2 Phone feature..
i wanted to transfer some songs from my pc to my phone but i can only drag and drop the songs...
I cant transfer them..the button is not shown, as well as the other buttons like the minimize, maximize,restore, and all..
in mean all those bars and icons and button above the the long rectangular box are gone..
can anyone plz help me solve the problem??
ive been trying for a few days already...

ok..now..the white sreen used to( and still does) happen to my fone as well..it usually gets stuck wen i switch on or off my bluetooth..buh the biggest problem im facing rite now wid dis fone is this:
wen i plug the fone to my pc to view the pics..either i am not able to remove the device safely..or it juss removes it self..due to that problem..i tried to do the disk check thing on da pc wen u plug the device in..now..its a mess...wen ever i plug my fone on da pc..all my data..including pics,vids, n themes get deleted!!!!!!.....i am crushed..all my stuff is *gone*..can some1 **please!** tell me wat the h*ll happened here??????....i need help **bigtime**!!...
btw..i dnt recomend dis fone to anyone!!!...muzic n speaker wise its amazing...buh it anit cool wen u lose all ur stuff!!!!.....

the stereo is the best ever from all the phone. try to compare with any speaker phone. w550i is louder and clearer than any. im facing no problem when using this phone. sound quality is very good rather than the latest walkman phone.

well mate even i faced the problem which you are facing right now in my previous w550i(which was STOLEN) but i got it replaced after facing the software problem for 3 times i forced the SE people to replace it
and then NO Probs at all..
but unfotunately i lost my fone and now i bought a new one
i guess you may be using the Disc2Phone software i already told ppl that its CRAP just dont use it...
rest all is fine with this fone
just ask SE ppl to replace it and then DO NOT USE Disc2Phone ok Lad

i m just fed up with this fone
it hangs a lot
white screen apears after which u cant even switch it on
i purchased it in july since then i hve faced this problem 5 times

i think may be Anand is right but as per the knowledge i have bout my W550i is that the problem that you are facing is just because of software. i guess you might have used the Disc2Phone software plz dont ever use it otherwise you will face the problem everytime....
and you can software fixed very easily just go to the nearest service centre and if your set is Without bill then you can get it updated via GPRS it would be one with in few minutes and will cost you less as well...

Hi Priya the problem u r facing is Uncommon,but wat I suggest,just change ur cellphone's battery dont take new battery,ask any one who is using the same phone & just put that battery in ur cell try this & reply if ur problem is solve.Bye

I think you have good choices. Both of them have similar music quality. So you just only concern to the differences between them.
W700 has better camera than W550 and it has slot for memory external.
W550 has louder speaker phone (because it has more than 1 loudspeaker) but the camera is not so goed and no memory external so you have 256 Mb memory.
So which one is your priority than take it.

Hello
Anyone can please teach me how to reset this phone, i bought it second hand and its default password is changed, so i cannot lock this phonee, can anyone tel me how to change the password or is it possible to reset password using master reset.. i tried master reset all but nothing happens, it didnt reset the password...
