where might i be able to find the patch/program that allows mp3s to be used as ringtones (for rogers customers)?
@ratedrko - you mentioned you downloaded something from the se website, what file was this?

Does anyone know why Rogers added their own music player to the phone? It's a waste of space!

Finally bought the phone, downloaded the DRM Package to get mp3 as ringtunes..wont work! If its workin for your w580, can you guys tell me another way to make the mp3 as a ringtune..i got this from Rogers btw

I have had the W580i for 3 weeks now and i have 3 cracked keys on keypad. Numbers 2, 4 and 7. I took it back to the shop where they are waiting on more stock. After reading comments on here I am seriously considering returning phone before my 28 days are up. Other than that the mp3 on phone is fab.

sorry all but make it 4 w580i's in a 5 week period! all with the same fault, cracking keypad numbers! been told by the cwh in the uk that a new batch is arriving anyday now.

the model of sony was so nice to see.but the opitions for that was not good. because their is no infared in that . and they have to the give the 3 mega pic camera for that. then it was so good to see that mobile

using shake control:
after you have started to play a mp3. press and hold the walkman button and give it a slight "shake". the current playing song should skip and start a new one :)
you can go to www.youtube.com and type w580 which will give you a few results showing this feature.

I've had this phone for a couple weeks now, it works pretty well, and the keypads haven't cracked. The only problems i'm having are that the camera cannot zoom in (while taking pictures), and it will not let me set mp3 files as ringtones, I can only use Wav files. Is anyone else having this problem, or have any idea why? thanks.

Ok, so i'm picking this phone up tomorrow but after reading all the comments im making second thoughts about it. Can anyone tell me which one is better? the w580 or s500i? which one would you guys prefer?

I'm thinking on buying this phone. But what does "No notification of missed events" mean. Can I put a memo in my calendar and the telephone will remind me?

ok i did a bit of research
turns out that that any batch before "week 24" of when they first came out are duds. the keys i mean. SE are working on getting that all polished up so if u want this phone, wait a while. i am personally going to wait till about December/Janurary(mainly because i need money to buy it but also to avoid this problem)

i really like this phone, i work for carphone warehouse and sell these all the time, they are a big seller. the keypad thing is quite common fault which sony ericsson are working on. just try not to press the keys to hard as they are really sensitive. the only other fault i have noticed so far which is mainly noticible on the blue one is on the back where the phone slides up, it scratches the blue colour of slightly which i can only gather will get worse and worse.

For all those wondering about the price of this one well please convert it in to your own currencies as i stay here in Dubai. In Dubai at JUMBO ELECTRONICS this one is priced at AED 1195/- and this one really looks good in white, having said that i am scared of it after reading all these comments posted in here !!!
