            well.. when the fone came out.. at the sight of it, i fall in love with this phone. which i have planned to buy but after seeing all yours comment i am shakey. i don wan to find trouble for myself. but overall the comment for this fone is good except for the keypad and the camera. the camera function doesnt weight much to me. but the keypad cracking is a big issue to me. i wonder when will SE solve this problem. i really love this phone ALOT! and i am sort of rough person. so i am gettign afraid of purchasing this phone.

              I'm reading all ur comment about cracking keypad. I was wondering..
              Does this cracked keypad affecting it's performance in writing a text message or it's only cracked without disturbing this phone performance??

                ive had this for almost a month now and for all those people who have broken the key pad in the first week that should tell ya something ur using a piece of technology not a toy, becuase my key pad is just fine i text alot and no issues, the main problem with people breaking them is they are just rough on it and push toooo hard on the buttons which do not require that much presure to use. overall keypad works great.

                    Adam:
                    well I own a white w580, I guess its fair enough for me to leave some comments about this phone, as I have used it for almost a month now.
                    integrated memory is important. You need it to save all the sms and mms and all sort of data that cannot be exported out. Also, integrated memory enables the phone to run/respond faster, just like RAM in PCs. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
                    sliding mechanism is indeed a little shaky, which is a great problem, because it will only get worse through out its life time. A firm build of a phone is vital to me, and I'm sure a lot of people think the same way as I do. w850 has the same problem too in case you didn't know.
                    for the SIM problem, it really depends on user, I myself don't find this a problem at all, but no problem with me doesn't mean that it doesn't bug other people
                    -on top of all these, the keypad is not too good... not too comfy to press them I would say
                    -the battery isn't impressive, I'm a heavy user and my phone can never last for more than one and a half day
                    -the screen is small, compare to the later w910, or my old phone N73. But its alright for me.
                    -the light effect is indeed very very charming.
                    -the screen is crystal clear even under sunlight.
                    -the camera sucks, with no AF and macro, it can only take decent photos when you are in a very bright place shooting a mid-far object
                    -video taking on w580 is awful.
                    -the walkman 2.0 interface is pretty nice and easy to use
                    -the back battery cover is hard to remove, but you will get use to it
                    -the SIM card holder design is retarded. the best way to get it out is to use some tapes

                    alright this is getting too long.. I should end here ^^"

                      Why can't GSM arena just say that a handset is really good? If a handset is lacking something then fair enough let us all know about it but dont state pointless factors as disadvantages. An example the W580...

                      - Only 12MB of integrated memory
                      (Whats the point of integrated memory?? Phone numbers? 12mb of phone numbers!!)
                      - Sliding mechanism little shaky
                      (Can anyone say Nokia 6280/88, 6110 navigator, or W850? Not a huge problem there. Usually the ones with really tight slides like chocolates have problems.)
                      - Phone won't operate without SIM
                      (For all of those times we want to take the sim card out of the phone, put it all back together and then use the phone!! Ever heard of airplane/offline mode????)
                      C'mon guys. No phone is perfect but at least give some credit and only state the really important disadvantages.

                          @haytham

                          by dubi i guess u mean dubai. well over here the current price is AED 1195. this im talking about places like Axiom, Jumbo, Cellucom etc.

                          @babbu

                          i think the headphones are the same but the audio quality should be better in W580 as it has walkman version 2.0 compared to W810 which has walkman verison 1.0

                          hope that helped guys :)

                            is the headphone clarity superior than W810i?

                              SE should have used the W700 keypad instead of these flimsy colourful keypads for W580.

                              Coz W 700 keypad is flat ,very user friendly and no reports of it cracking. Have a close at W 700 keypad and u will agree with me. Or atleast the rubberised keypad.
                              Do u all agree with me?

                                ok, i havent bought the phone yet but i think that the newer versions might have the keypad problem solved whereas the older versions may carry the same problem as the S500.

                                i checked the W580 a various places (here in dubai that is) and some shops had this phone with a very, and i mean very, flimsy keypad whereas some places the keypad felt quite solid ( i actaully was pressing hard with my nails to check, lol).

                                  I've had this little beauty for a week now and I love it. I previously had the W850i but it was a little too bulky for my liking so I bought this W580i sim free. Up to now, I've had no problems. I've got long nails and my keypad hasn't cracked! I hope it stays that way! The music quality is very good and comes with great headphones, and the camera is far superior to my previous 850i. It's a shame that it doesn't have auto focus though. Also it has no flash but it still takes good pics. The screen quality is very clear with rich colours. The speakers on this mobile are in the centre of the directional keys. FM radio is nice and clear. It comes with a 512 mb card but I've put a 2 GB card in mine and I believe it will accommodate up to an 8 GB! Transferring songs from a CD to this phone is easy and quick. I would recommend this mobile to anyone. I don't know why people are having cracked keypads. I'm happy with mine. Any questions, feel free to ask and I'll answer if I can!!
