i don't know why so many people tell only bad things about SE phones.
i've using w580 for nearly 7 months n i use text message very often,but never been faced with ANY types of prb.
So plz don't be alarmed.

I had this phone for only a year and It cannot handle being dropped, or even any minor damage. My buttons cracked, the screen and the front cover come off and the buttons actually slide out. Then the buttons broke of completely
awful phone don't get it, you will get sick of it so soon

I just bought one, despite all the warnings. It just looks so good. Even the newer W760a just doesn't look as good. Hopefully mines will last a few months before the keyboard problems start.

i really wanna have this phone but i'm having a hard time dealing with those opinions i read..all of them are having problems with their keypads..badly i'm a text addict that's why i'm scared if the keypads would break easily..but i'm still looking forward to buy this phone..how i wish the keypads won't break..

nice look , good options , very very very bad keypad quality , keys stoped working 4 month after i got it , it didnt fall down ,it just stopped working

I know that problem is usual with sony ericssons, its a simple fix just get a software update and it should be fine. You could even do it yourself by going on to sony ericsson.com

I love this phone. I think it's a really cool phone. Nice memory, nice picture, amazing functions. My keys are fine. I have just had 2 problems tho:
1. My daughter got ahold of it and squeezed it (she was only like 9 or 10 months) and it wouldn't slide open very easily. It took a LOT of messing with before it finally worked right again.
2. I've had it for not even 4 months and the screen randomly went crazy. Sometimes when it's closed, it's fine....but when I open it, the screen has crazy stripes and it turns black or it flashes or the picture is distorted....You can still use the phone, you just have to constantly close it to see what you're doing...(sometimes the screen is messed up even when closing it and you have to turn it off and on)
Overall, I would give it a 4 out of 5.
Like I said, it's a great phone.....the only issue I had is the screen issue. I think the price could be lowered a bit tho.
OH!!!! and when you set a theme that uses different light colors on the sides, after a day or so they change back to green.

I look after my phone, haven't dropped it, don't press the keys hard when I text or anything.. It's just a design flaw.. whether you've had your phone two weeks or two years, it will probably get a cracked keypad or soft keys falling off at some point.. If they have solved the problem why are people still having problems??
In all other aspects the phone is brilliant, very impressed with the sound quality.. I just wish I never bought it!!

i have been using this phone for more than 5 monthes when i bought it it got down after 20 days but it was in warranty so i contact to the company they tried to fix it but it was not repairable so they gave me the new one now its working properly one thing that i like in this phone its sound and looks

I've had mine for over a year and a half. Dropped it and everything and have had no problems. I love my phone.

OK THE PHONE IS A GREAT PHONE. it wont break if you take care of it. when you get mad, and text hard, by pushing extremely hard on the keys, then yes it will break the keys, like all phones the sony ericson w580 is fragile, I have had mine for almost a year, and the ninth month i had it, i threw it against the wall, the screen broke. so my point is, buy the phone, but respect it.

I liked the look of this phone so much I decided to ignore everyone's warnings about the keys... The keypad split within two weeks, sony ericsson fit a new, stronger one which has not broken but now the soft keys are falling off and the software is messed up! I've only had it 6 months!
I've learnt my lesson! I'm confused why shops still sell this phone as all batches seem to be faulty!
