1. download a small piece of software from this linkhttp://www.sonyericsson.com/cw...?lc=en&cc=i n
install this on your computer. and then run this and connect your phone to your computer and follow instructions.
2.take your phone to a service station and ask them to format your phone and put new software on it.
3. if u hv gprs activated in your phone then u can update your phones software by using a option there in settings of phone.this is done over air.
this applies to all of sony phones

of the phone, just carefully followed it,
and also check the forums of esato , thinkdigit, and se-ne, for other info..
anyway the base case of the k550 and w610 from ebay aren't really original, maybe they're class a/sub-standard pruducts.

roxxxy, 02 Mar 2009I want to change my silver and black sony ericsson w610 hou... morehi there, changing the housing of w610 is a tough job. the phone board is attached to the base of housing. the base must be canged with the housing,so detaching the board from the base can easily damage it. so i must suggest u to keep enjoy with ur present housing

likes> nice and attractive looks,nice sound quality and result,nice camera performance in macro and landscape like a cybershot(camera result resebles k550 a lot),nice display,battery efficient,nice and new keypd layout,light on pocket,big on sound,a true walkman. dislikes> playback time on handsfree is onlr 5 to 6 hours,the supplied with card is only 512 mb.

i ve got this cool phone as a gift. its a very nice handset. great looks,great sound,grean camera performance like a cybershot. an enhanced macro mode. playback time on handsfree is about 5 to 6 hours. i am greatly impressed by its design specially its keypad. display is nice and power efficient and themes make it even better and enjoying. overall, a nice phone!

In addition to my question before, they said that you can change a black and orange housing to silver and black but you can't do it the other way around. Is this true?

I want to change my silver and black sony ericsson w610 housing to black and orange. However, my local service provider says that somehow it damages the phone and I can't do that if I want the phone to operate at its best. Can someone help me and tell me if this is true.
