Hi Guys,
Here are some points you should keep in mind before buying this phone,
1.LCD is based on TFD Technology which is older version of TFT.Nokia 3650 had this screen with less colours & Nokia 6600 had TFT screen, hope you can judge the difference.
2.As compare to SE 810i,this phone has smaller lense (810i>4.8mm, 610i>3.8mm) which makes a reasonable difference.
3.Keypad is chromed just like that navigation key on 810i, so hopefully this will also wear out (so sad).
4.Its a bad habbit to go for louder phone speakers so always concentrate on how it sound on earpieces.
5.It uses M2 memory card which is expensive as compare to MemStick Duo.
6.It has a thin designe which means it cannot tolerate high Gs,more simply,if you drop 810i & 610i from the same hight, this phone might come up with more damage then 810i.
Hope these points will help you to choose a better phone.

don't get confused... you should go buy this because this is way louder than the w810i. plus it also has a crystal clear camera! you won't regret it...

W610i doesn't have zoom option in 2Mp mode, but I just realised as i read an article in CNET bout taking pic with phone camera, i dont need to zoom; here it is :
Avoid zooming
Phone makers, like manufacturers of digital cameras, love to tout their products' digital zoom capabilities. Digital cameras at least have some optical zoom capabilities, which actually uses the optics of the lens to bring the subject closer, but camera-phones are stuck with digital zoom options, if they have any at all. Given the limited focal range, you may be tempted to use this feature to capture faraway objects. Not only will this degrade the image quality, but you may be able to use it only when the camera is set to take pictures in a lower-resolution setting, which will result in a smaller image.

What kinda phone u r using now? yes..W610i hv digital zoom..2.5zoom only in VGA mode.. yes it hv infrared port..i hv this phone n its rock..definitly the best phone iv ever used..the internal speaker r so loud.. n the 2.0MP camera are crystal clear..

wow!!! i've been using this phone for just a few days, but da*n! it's just great!!! before, i was about to choose either w850i or w900i, but w900i has no more brand new unit available here in the philippines, while with the w850i, i saw a lot of model phones in the market that are free of browsing, in other words, you can use a sample phone of w850i & i really saw a big drawbacks!!! the problem in sliding mechanisms & the problem in the d-pad, it cracks!!! but when i saw this unit, even if it has no 3G functions, its fine!!! its gorgeous, the keypads are ok, got no issues with it, the color black & orange were combined amazingly!!! very loud!!! i also like the heavy feel of the phone, it doesn't feel cheap when you hold it because it is more of a metallic feel. got no regrets havin this cute lil baby!!! my friends are even jealous of it!!! they love this so much!!! another + feature is the camera, it is so clear!!! the only thing that i didn't like is that the camera has no protective cover so it is prone to scratches, but i bought a plastic screen protector, & i cut it & sticked it onto the lens of the cam to prevent dirt & scratches... i love my W610i!!! go buy this hp people!!! you'll love it!!!

i am using it for last 10 days...excellent music player supporting wma,wmv and much more...But one IMPORTANT thing for INDIAN "Idea" subscriber--while restoring network in auto mode ur number is undetectable by other mobile or telephone...means once u cone in network after loosing it and if call made on ur number, it says "out of network"..

I just got this right after my w810 busted.. Wich i was using for almost 2 years now... Sony w810 was the best phone ever,, never had any complaints.. But anyway instead of buying another 810 i decided to go with the 610 since its the newer model... ok so heres the differences of them both..
w610 pros vs w810
thinner
much louder speaker and earpeice
newer version of the sony walkman software
video ringtones
track id (where service is available)
w610 cons vs w810
small ugly annoying buttons
2x zoom (810 has 4x)
camara lens is flat wich will scratch up really easy (810 has it pushing out around the lens making it scratch free)
m2 memory wich cost, 2gigs max for the time being (810 memory stick format,, upto 8gigs available)
thats all i can think of right now... So far im missing my w810... But then again ive only had this w610 for less then 24 hours.
And for them not knowing how to take silent pics... Just put ur phone in silent mode.. And take pics...

when you said "loud" what exactly you mean by that? speaker or the earphone? it loud unless youre in a railway or factory or somethin.
about silencing your fone when you take pictures, SE doesnt include that in the manual, of course its just common sense. silent your fone, and you wont hear a sound.
you cant put password with your msgs. SE cant give all what ppl want, if all fone features is in this fone, that wud kill their other fone. that would be disappointing in thier part too hehe. some simple business strategy.
