It`s a good phone.. i like it!!! What i dislike is that the battery in one or 2 days is dead. in the manual says that it can hold up to 30 hours of music when the phone feature is turned off.. I tried it and it holds like a day!!! Please give me an advice, that how can i make my phone battery last longer..
...uh... And there is possible to convert movies to mpeg4 and copy them to the phone because i herd that mpeg4 has a bettttttter quality than 3gp...

    Thanks a lot!!!!

      To meteorite:
I've had my phone for almost 2 months now, and have more than 9 nested folders and phone works all right, no data erased ever.
Can't understand about messages, but i don't find a prob w/mine. I haven't checked about calendar issues for i don't use it, though for normal alarm clock u can use the radio or even mp3, working out perfectly and they can be changed. Sim card DOES require some skill to get removed (though not as much as many other phones i've had), I wouldn't understand though, why would u like to change sim card, and in regards to memory stick, u can just push it w/ur nail and it'll easily come out.
It is possible to type the whole name while searching in address book.
Phone CAN be charged via usb cable. Never had to restart phone when swapping mem stick, so, this is not to have contrary on you, just to let ya know that i purchased 2 phones and both working on fine. And this for what i just answered, it was so BO-RING reading all that review, have no complains on SE, might want to check this, though, where did you find the 11 mb java dictionary.....???
      I wonder.....

      cheers!

If you like Nokia so much go and buy one,but don't do this kind of review here because I don't think that all that says here is true. You don't like this kind of SE(W800)because is more better that an Nokia phone with a good sound quality and a good camera.

what a coincidence that all was wrong on your phone, cuz any of your mistakes are on mine, and it's strange that you didn't speak about the qhality of the camera (just u sayed that a photo without light is bad... nah?), and the quality of mp3, and you talked about what anyone cares (sms storage), in a super-multimedia phone is important the ·$%& SMS?? that's a matter for old nokia phones like you like. you're just makin us throw time reading your invented review

It's my first time to have a SE cellphone. I recently had this phone and here are my good and very bad experiences. A Few of the data may be incorrect for some. I hope that I could find a way to achieve what I have expected with this phone. It's a long one so be patient :-)

-The memory stick had a problem: all data dissapears when a lot of nested folders. The maximum is only 2. Thanks to the SE forums that I visited... They saved my life from returning the phone to the retail store.

-Message tone lasts only for approximately 8 seconds. I have not confirmed the exact time span of it because everytime I switch tones, different time intervals are observed. Sheesh!

-Calendar alarm tone cannot be changed... My w800i has a hard time waking me up because the standard tone is only a short beep at maximum volume... I thought that I will be able to get rid of nokia cellphones upon buying this... I just used my very dusty and primitive nokia phone for clock alarm purposes.

-The calendar alarm cannot be repeated weekly, daily nor yearly but you can assign an end date to make it look like SE at least did something about repeating alarms... but it's not like their competitor nokia, that somewhat excels in the calendar function. The alarm (this one is different. It's just the clock alarm) can be repeated on certain days of the week. Just mark the days of the week when you want them to alarm. It could have been better if dates could be assigned but what can I do? It's only an alarm function. Dates are for calendars... boohoo!

-When somebody's calling, lay your phone face down because the ringing tone sounds garbled up when the speaker at the back is covered.

-The volume of the speaker is loud on quiet places. The vibra-alert may come in handy on crowded places.

-The Disc2Phone pc software is useless. It only worked on the first time I transfered files to my phone. After that, The Memory stick problem arose. Just buy a memory card reader... The data cable is slow.

-You can get rid of the flashing sound by making the phone in silent mode.

-The sim card and memory stick requires some skills and small fingers to remove.

-It easily gets messy when you have sweaty palms. I recommend silicon cases or plastic cases for these kinds of people (like me!)

-The music is sorted only by filename, by date and by playlist

-I get vertical lines when taking pictures at house lightings.

-According to MyPhoneExplorer software, this baby can only hold 214 text messages on all folders. You cannot make subfolders

-Contact names are not set up to be searched through firstnames and last names. Full names could only be searched and first letters could only be used to find it. You can't find a contact by typing all the letters on the name

-Battery drains out easily at the end of the day even with little activities to it. I haven't tried playing the phone on music mode only for 30 hours, as SE promised.

-It can be charged through the connection of the provided usb data cable to PC

-The bass and mega bass setting can only be noticeably heard with any type of headphones

-Even if the mem stick can be hot swapped (is that term right?), you need to restart the phone in order to see what you've tried to put in it.

-I don't know if the memory stick provided should be SanDisk. I thought it was a Sony mem stick... Is this fake/imitation?

-I was just wondering... The packaging case says my unit is w800. The phone status says w800i. Which one is correct? Hmmm... I'm getting a bit suspicious!

-The FM radio is superb in sound quality with the headphones

-The joystick is a bit buried... I have difficulty with the "up" direction

-Backlight lights up when any key is pressed even when locked. I think this is the reason why the battery dies out too quickly

-It's not symbian based (geez... I miss my nokia phone). It can only support Java... I was lucky enough to find an 11mb java dictionary. It's a necessity in my college course. I never thought that there is a Java software that big!

-Themes that are dark and vivid on my PC looks pale and light on my w800i.

Well, that's all for this time. I hope that the next firmware will be able to fix a lot of errors on this phone.

                    to weasel,
u can make an mp3 file as a message tone. i would suggest, if u havent heard of, is an mp3 cutter so u can customize ur tone--so it doesnt play the intro. u can cut the file so ur tone starts at any part of the mp3 file. its really cool. search "mp3 cutter" on download.com. i have mp3 cutter joiner right now and it can cut/join mp3 and wmv files

My Dad recently received this phone from his service provider as an upgrade - it is a super phone - definitely not for dummies - and definitely not for the average farmer - the functions are overwhelming. My Dad being a farmer, decided this phone is too smart for him and is thus still using his old phone.. lol!!!

                              To Bill:
I tried to make a test on it, and had aprox 250 messages on both the inbox and outbox, though, not taking in account long messages are activated on my phone, which means that more than a few messages were worth 2, 3, 4, or even 5 messages.... Just to let ya all know, hope this can help you in some way.

                                      to rockafeller:
when connected via usb cable, phone wont detect files, though it will still detect folders on memory stick. other than what eddy says, if u didn't securily removed the memory stick via "securily remove hardware" at the bottom-right hand corner of yer computer when usb cable is connected you might have ruineed the memory stick. this is just like a usb memory, and this function is due to this. i won't give my guesses, i'd rather have u taking the memory to someone that knows much about computers and see if there is something to do, otherwise, u might try formatting it and see if it helps.
                                      hope u can fix it!

                                      to simon:
u can xfer videos from ur pc to memory stick. u convert videos to 3pg format, and u can store hours and hours, i once saw someone having the complete friends season on their phone!
                                      hope this helps

I also have the problem that everybody has.
Only 1 or 2 of the mp3s that i copy actually is on the phone when I diconnect it from my computer.
I've tried everything, and I don't want to wait a half an hour everytime I transfer something.
I've noticed that when you copy each file seperately it stays on the phone, but when you copy a lot of stuff all the data gets lost. This is the best phone eve!!!(except for this small problem)
