This phone plays MP3 as well as MP4 aka AAC files. MPEG4 video files as well as 3GP files should be converted as any phone does. Even Nokia phones need any video files to be converted to 3gp in the right process b4 they could play them. I am not bothered if I can't play MPEG4 as I can easily play 3GP. It's only an added effort to me not to mention MP3s are widely available anywhere.

i think it's a great phone. before i used it, i have a se k608i. its a great phone 2 but it doesn't have a slot for memory stick. i think this is the best phone until sony launching their new model k800. the camera is very good. the sound is very realistic and mega bass feature is very very good. but i think if it have a style up cover it will much better. cos im afraid with scratch in my phone. and i think black colour is more cool than white one. i prefer w800 than w900 because its much smaller and fit into my hand. beside than in my country (indonesia. hehe does anyone ever hear this country?? hehehe) 3g network is unavailable till 07.

hi y'all! jus letting yah know that i've had this fone since sept last yr... i usually have flip fones but the specs of this fone made me get it...as i used to always bring a camera and my mini disc walkman along...this fone was 3 in 1...very very very handy! so far i've got like 60songs on my memory card and plus extra extra space for pics and other things(like games)...i dnt use the software to transfer songs..i just use a memory card reader and copy songs from the comp to the card..which is much easier to do! uhm i havent been using the video rec much as i have a video cam anyway..the cam on dis fone takes really good fotos i must say.. my fone used to lag and get stuck but it hasnt happened in a while...overall.. good value for the money..ooh yeah the battery life is excellent too! mine lasts up to 5days and i make fone calla and snd txt messages every day...anyway, just sharing my thoughts... hav a nyc day y'all!! =)

Bram. You have to convert your movie files to either mpeg4 or 3gp format. I haven't tried mpeg4 on this w800i yet but mine works fine with 3gp converted movies. You can use any 3gp video converter(like the Nokia Multimedia Converter). The only thing is it's so far from the quality of the 903 video playback(in size and in clarity)

TO D3:
If you wish speed on internet,3g calls, nice big screen, easy to handle phone you should choose n6680(thats the phone i have).
If you want great camera, better memory, not heavy and good lookind phone, youre choise is w800(........I have this one too ,shshsh.)
I'm not telling nothing about w550 because i dont like it aaand only thing is that it has the best speakers along other 2 mentioned.Anyway it's a piece of ....
By the way,if got some money you should buy w900 AND NOKIA n80. (i'm going to switch my n6680 and w800i with those 2).
To SONY-ERICSSON:
WHEN W900 IS COMING IN ROMANIA?.NO RETAILER HAS IT,IS HARD TO FIND IN CENTRAL EUROPE,IN COUNTRIES LIKE ITALY,GREECE,AUSTRIA,even SPAIN(thats a guess).I want it before it's outdated!

I am glad this phone is usable in the USA. I didn't think it was going to work. I bought this phone in october. The people i know who just bought the newly released w600i in the States all feel sad after they realize my phone can use a memory stick up to 2GB and their phone doesn't ( it can ONLY hold 256mb and no memory stick port). I like the w600 though. it's a cute phone. This is probably the best phone i ever had. By the way, can anyone tell me if the w900 can be used in the USA? this country doesn't have 3G yet, but i still want to get that phone for my bro. thanks.

Goldwave could be found on their website. Sometimes you can find it from P2P networks but it's illegal if u know what I mean. You must have a license serial no. to install it on your computer. But once you have it you can manipulate your audio files in so many ways.

About the sound of this phone, I think it's not too bad but it's no match with Moto E1000 when using using the speaker. We really can't find a perfect or even a near perfect phone. Something must be missing. SE has really made a good phone out of w800 and still people(like most of yous)are not satisfied enough.
