I agree with you Nouman. People still complain about dropped calls with US Cingular networks,flashing light etc..
People pay something like $ 500 for this device. Why should there be need for an upgrade at first place ? It should already have gone through all testings at SE.
SE have started selling at their US website for a whopping $ 499 plus tax and shipping. No wonder their market share is so low...

Thank u Arj.But can u tell me why SE not install correct f/w when they launch their new mobiles.
Same f/w problem with W800i & W810i.Everyone says here upgrade is available.This is so unfair with customers who buys such a expensive mobiles.

Hi, I've a ques here. How many sms can this phone takes with 512Mb memory stick? My friend who owned a W800 said dat his can only take 30, which is the amount allowed by his SIM card. Is dat true?

I just received this phone a few days ago. It's amazing. It's got a great form factor in nice, small dimensions. It also packs a great 2.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus, and the EDGE comes in handy very often, since Internet capabilities on a phone is important to me. I also like the RDS radio, which is missing in my W900i. And, of course, this is also a quad-band phone, so I can use it throughout Europe and Asia, as well, if I ever go there.

refer to Sam's question on what brand the Memory card that comes with the W810 is...

Yes it only comes with SanDisk brand memory card (not 'ScanDisk'). This brand seems to be quite popular and is not cheap and nasty.

when the W800 first came onto the market I wanted to buy it. However, I thought I would just wait for a few months and see the price to come down a bit. Before that happens, all shops have sold them out! and they now only sell W810 - which of course - as a totally new model is not cheap.
Anyway I could not wait any longer, so I bought the W810. It looks like a great phone and it is great! One thing I don't like is the absence of a lid for the camera lens - leaving it prompt to scratches, etc. I hope that won't happen but i'd have to wait and see.
Also, can someone tell me if the PC software could be installed and/or would work on WIN98? I rang Ericsson, they told me it may not even install. I only have one computer and have to stay on win98.

@Shenny:
You can only see the details by choosing "edit contact". When done viewing, simply press the back button. Its that simple. There's no use in having an option just to view details as this is already served by the edit contact button.
As for the other details, make sure that the default contact is on "phonebook" and not "sim contacts". U can save lots of numbers per person in your phonebook. I suggest you read the manual and experiment. The SE interface is quite different from Nokia's but it also does the job.

The profile does not automatically change to handsfree mode when u plug your headset. You have to set it manually if you want the ringtone to be heard from the headset.
@Nouman:
The flashlight and dropped calles problem will be solved by a f/w upgrade. Go to ur local SE service center. As for the low volume, there is the ringtone volume and the music volume (when listening to music). The music volume reverts to its default setting (4/8) everytime you restart your phone so u have to adjust it. My setting is only 6/8 and i find it loud enough.

when you plug in the earphones I don't seem to get any ringtone in the earphones if someone calls me just on the phone.

With all my other phones when I pluged in the headphones it would go to hands-free mode and you could hear the ring in the earphones....can this be done with the w810?

Please someone help...

W810i has 3 major problems.
1) Drop Calls.
2) Volume is too low.
3) Flash light problem
Can somebody please help???

Pls i need help i just changed from the Nokia platform to SE W810i. When i view my contact list i can not see other details - except i go thru editing the contact. I can not also assign or rename my contact list number e.g. mobile, work, home; to liek say Smith family, Huband, Wife, home. Pls help i could do all this on my Nokia 3230. Shenny

Thanks alot ur guys at GSMARENA! Have been a Nokia fan for more than 5 years now - making sure i change my set every six months. On my last change from Nokia 3230. I discovered thru your site review/comparion that SE W810 had ALL i have always dreamed about in a phone. Well i ve bought it even with a high price what more can u ask for.... SE & GSMARENA Crew keep the good work up.

Hi.. Sam... u can get good games from Wap sites like tagtag.com, mcommunity.biz.... u can run these sites on ur pc using Opera browser... bye.. happy gamming ....

hey.. u can play the videos of ur phone by installing 3GP codecs. u can download Real Player n then 3gp codecs. Also u can use 'MPEGABLE player'..... enjoy

was at a concert last nite and took loads of videos but when i put them on the computer xp will not play them something to do with codecs.
anyone know how i fix this?

I think SE are way ahead of any other mobile phone producers. Well done to Sony Ericsson. They have proven to be the best. Thanks to the SE team for your wonderful work...
