The bad things that i have experienced from this phone are:

If i set a ringtone to a song on my memory stick, the phone will freeze when i recieve a call. The only way to un-freeze is to pull the battery out. If i save that song to the phones memory, then it recieves call without a problem.
The re-occuring alarm does not work. The single set alarm works fine, but that re-occ does not work.
The screen goes black after a few seconds. Im sure thats software related, but its a bad experience for me, i hate it and it sux.
MP4's dont play right. I have changed settings on the mp4's several times and nothing seems to work well on this phone. The video keeps twitching every second or so until the movie is over. Very annoying.
3GP works just fine.

Thats about all the bad that i have experienced. Everything else is good and some features i have found to be quite impressive that i didnt think this phone would have...

Just got my w810i today, and from the moment that the startup wizard started, this phone has been freezing up a lot. It always freezes up whenever it goes to standby mode..has anybody else had these problems?

James, great answers dude. Nice to see some answers on the site instead of just the same old questions over and over again. Cheers.

Also, Orange (UK) has moved the phone from 'coming soon' to 'buy'. Guess where my fingers are tapping to next...

              To Mark:
Any usb card reader will work. Card readers are all the same. Its the memory stick itself that determines how fast it reads / writes..

Your video framerate should be at 15fps to stop skipping.

The new W810 seems to be irresistable in it's design and features, anyone would get thrilled to get one of this and Im a person who has waited a long to get this black irresistable gadget. But I dont agree with their marketing as this is just the W800 phone with a Blck case with 2 GB upgradeable memory and additional MPEG 4 player.People concerned with money have no other way rather than wait.

                          To James:
I finally figured out how to get my MP4 video onto the memory stick so that the phone will recognize it. However, when i play it back, the video has little jumpy skips to it. Nothing major to where it kills the movie, but more like jump glitches every second or so. The audio seems to remain in sync with the video which is good.
                          Do your mp4's skip..??
FYI my settings for the MP4 are as follows:
                          Resolution 176 x 120
                          Video Framerate is 29.97 fps
                          Audio Bitrate is 128 kbps
Not sure if that is japanese to you, but if its familair and u can spot why my mp4's are skipping, let me know..
                          Thanks

James: can you tell me which countries (USA, UK, or Canada, or Australia, etc) have the shutter mute option? When I update my firmware, I want to use one of those countries...

                              James ,

I actually found out that the clock comes up when you click any of the side buttons after the phone is in the sleep mode, however it only stays on for a second and disappears.

Also I am pretty disappointed that they still don't allow repeating events in the calendar , that has to be the most basic functionality , why they would not implment such a small yet poweful feature is completely beyond me, it is as if they purposely don't let all these small but important features coexist together.

Anyway I wonder if the new firmware update will adress that issue as well.

                                    to w810,
yes i added the videos to the folder in the directory: memorystick\mssemc\mediafiles\video and am able to view my videos thru the walkman player or file manager.

                                    to mark,
yes there are many different options to load ur files to ur memory stick; by using a usb card reader (the best idea so you could connect it to any computer with a usb port), via bluetooth, or the usb dongle that came with the phone.

                                    to rob,
yes the standby clock seems to be glitched on this firmware with the phone, i called sony and they said this should be fixed when an update comes out.
a nice thing is that you can use the remote update service on the phone itself and update thru the phone without a need for a computer or that tricky sony update service online.

                                    cb,
i read somewhere that this phone will be out for cingular in the 3rd quarter, but is widely available sim free online.

                                    jason,
i have not gotten any dropped calls like i had with my previous phone, try calling sony ericsson about it, and have them replace it if it is defective, it comes with a 1 year warranty.

                                    to joshy d,
the difference is the look, the applications button along with the walkman button, edge support, and a replacement of the joystick with a control pad (which should last longer),
                                    all minor differences

                                    ezekiel,
yes you can hear the other person clearly, and they can hear you even clearer, this phone is great with sound quality, with or without the headset, just make sure ur buddy on the other line is speaking clearly in the first place.
and the only options to set a lock code is for ur sim card, phone lock at startup, or code memos (personal notes with a lock code), then there's the keypad lock that unlocks by pressing the * and right select key.

to more sense than more sense,
this phone does play mpeg4, and various videos formats, but it just depends on the frequency and resolution. ive been enjoying music videos in mpeg4 format on this phone..

                                    to zeyad,
hopefully the standby clock gets fixed soon.
and in the contact's infos, you have the option to set 4 numbers PER contact; mobile, home, work, and other, as well as email and web address, picture ringtone and voice command, work and home address, info and birthdy.

to winston, you can set an mp3 as a ringtone by either finding the mp3 in file manager and pressing MORE, USE AS, RINGTONE; or selecting a contact in ur list and pressing MORE, EDIT CONTACT, go to the picture/ringtone tab (middle 3rd out of 5 tabs) and select add ringtone.
ur mp3s must be in the memory stick/mp3 or

The result of Sony Ericsson is always great towards me coz if u want to do good u have to be good

convert the media files to 3GP format with the converter name SUPER(c) ok so search SUPER that convertor really shock me when i use it first time coz the video playback is just the like the DVD come on TV. so search the site and have a Nice DAy.
