Disappointing, the video is still an old formal 3gp (176 X 144). Other new models are with Mpeg$ (358 X 288). What happen to SE?

In my personal point of view the w810i is much better then any other Sony ericsson phone I have previously owned being a Nokia person Sony this time made the menu features much easier to navigate. The only problem that might need to work on is 1. When the phone goes to standby you have a black screen. 2. You can not transfer application or place shortcut i.e. Opera software. 3. I’m still trying to understand the walkman features. 4. In the contacts you only get one phone description i.e one mobile No, one home phone, and this should be amended.

Does your W810 has soft message alert tone? I set both my ringing and message alert to the same tone but incoming call sounded louder than incoming message alert.
Do you have this problem on your set?

Some of u ignorant people need to read the manual for this phone b4 posting here. Stop asking these questions when the answers are in the manual. Are u that lazy that you cant read..?? C'mon people, get to steppin.
And by the way this W810i accepted my 8GB memory stick pro duo.. Yes i said 8GB. And dont ask where i got it from cause im not gonna tell ya. If u people are too lazy to read, your gonna have to do some web surfing to find this one. Just like i got my W810i back in Feb for $350 shipped...
Hey, dont hate me, i look for the best deals. Its not my fault some of u are paying over $500 for this phone...

You guys need to stop crying about the price of this phone. Im sick of reading these worthless posts from you guys about the posts. Its common sense..
New phone that just hit the market, it has a new design and they added the 850 band which makes this phone very use-able in the US.
It has all the exact same features as the W800 and K750i, the only new thing about it is the design / color and the addition of the 850 band.
And to the guy that asked if cingular has it... well, did u go to cingulars web site and see it, no..?? Well that means they dont have it yet. Quite asking ignorant questions. When they get it, you will see it on their web site.
Most of u guys make he sick.

to fadz,
there is no option of setting a passcode for the key lock..
and about the standby clock, the screen does go blank in this first firmware version, and should be fixed soon, i called sony about it..
also another glitch i found is that i can call somebody on my list and their name shows up, but if they call me their name does not show up, i then added the full area code to their contact info and it finally got to showing their name when they call.. strange stuff..

no name(mxdH)- you can also try Sony Ericsson's Bluetooth Stereo Headset (the HBH-DS970)

i will start with
trey 2006-04-02 01:56- i will get back to you about that. we all know that with SE camera phones there has been a tendancy to have permanent shutter sounds. will resaerch for you and bring lnks if i can
fadz- normally with SE to unlock is C and the yes button. since i have not purchased the phone yet, all i can tell you is that once you lock it press a button. the phone will then tell you what combination of buttons to press to unlock it. as for a passcode, you will have to look around settings for that.
danni- i dont think it is possible. the only recommendation i can provide is that you acquire the new Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Stereo Headset: (the HBH-DS970)
trey- you can change the delay time of the standby mode.
SARAH- the video quality is not as good compared to the still photo quality. unlike the w900 this phone records at a video quality that does not appear great on a phone. however on a computer it will look good

dadok: You are right. w810 has less than 10% improvement/change from the predecessor w800. In fact, aside from the outer shell, there are NO changes. And it is $100 US dollars more than the w800. Go figure Sony to take us for fools and drain our hard earned money. But that's how anything trendy and new works...
I could've and would've bought the w800 a few weeks ago. I would've saved myself $100 US dollars. But the color IS quite "not my style" and I honestly haven't seen many guys use the w800. Girls I've seen almost daily, but very few guys would use a white/orange cell phone. I'm not being sexist or generalising, but it's just what I've observed and it is only my opinion.

Sarah: I asked my gf to do a lapdance and I video recorded it. The quality is ok on the phone. I uploaded the video to my Apple and it looked worst. Cell phones still have a LONG way before putting out quality video recorders. BUT it is still better than Nokia and Motorola (which is by far the worst video quality).
The photo is okay as well. It is 2.0 megapixel, so if you want 3 by 5 photos, it's adequate. It's much better than the old 1.3 megapixel phonecameras, but still far off from those 3.2 megapixel ones (Sharp T91 is really nice, the k750 is still somewhat better). I don't know why people are praising 2.0 megapixels cameras so much...I took tons of pictures outdoors and indoors and believe me, I'm not impressed. It's adequate, but that's it.

You're barking up the wrong tree.
Everyone knows that Sony makes products that generally cost more than the competitor. The k800 you mentioned is indeed impressive: 3G, 4 bands, and most importantly it is 3.2 Megapixel. But it is also heavier, larger, and only has 64 MB, which you have to spend another 30-40 bucks for an upgrade.
Plus, I could see it being the same price or priced HIGHER than the w810. For me, the w810 is geared toward the younger crowd. Excellent MP3 quality with quality headphones and very nice designs. The k800 is geared for the older crowd who (perhaps businessmen who travel alot)...
As for the games: Mine contains Johnny Crash and Quadrapop. Johnny Crash is a game where you navigate Johnny so he won't "crash". Quadrapop is a tetris ripoff. Both games are boring and chances are, you won't be playing them much. For me anyway.

hey.... if it's really more han $500... i'd better wait for the N91 or maybe K800.
what i mean is it's just not worth the money, see $500 bucks for a little improvement of W800??
c'mon man...
