viperkid- hey buddy, didnt think that you would be able to chat ust because i wasnt here. ANYWAY.
w900 did not come out at $900. those were just people who had early access to the phone and wanted to make a quick buck. it came out @$750.
come on now we know that the n80 shines here and there. if we wanted a smartphone we would go for that. but we are not. remember you are in the wrong forum buddy. we are here to talk about the w810. not the w900. go to that forum aand lay down you opinions there.
about the phone book, with the sony you can ust save all your contacts onto the memory card and then will not have of those problems. oh and find friends that have 1 home/ office.
you can use the volume buttons to skip to the next page you fool.
have you actually used the damn phone. i havent but if it goes for only 10 seconds then its your problem. just dont buy it.
about hearing, your friend can ust use his speakerphone if he is deaf in his one ear.
how can you change from a w800 to e398 and call it reliable. and why the hell would you give a small child such an expensive phone. forget about phone quality, that is ust irresponsibility. and may i guess that the phone used to be yours anyway.
+ grow up. fugly. you have to use such words. honestly.
SE will have 16m colours in their phones when they feel that it is a neccesity. what is the point of having 16m colour on a tiny screen. anyway on a small screen 256k is enough.
Stiker- nice one mate.
viperkid- stiker is right. w900 is in the past. n80 isthe future. we cannot say that it is not a good phone. we have never disputed that fact. but if we are ever going to continue these arguements then we need to look at the same period. either the now. the soon. or the coming soon. n80 sounds like a wonderful phone now, but if nokia pulls aa nother phone out on us then the n80 will look crappy and people will wait for the phone. nokia just like every other brand does delay their phones. trust me if i had the money and that phone was out i would get it. but it is not. unfortunately we havr no way of comparing the n80 with any other phone, becuase we do not know when it will be released and what other phones will be released then.

We both know that when boogie and ryanloh made their comments they were referring to the Nokia 6680. And looking at the 6680, and the rest of the sheer volume of disposable, forgettable rubbish that Nokia churn out, I have to agree with them.
See, every single time you come here to slate SE, you do so by boringly reeling off specs of the N80. Thats 1 model, and admittedly, its a superb peice of kit, and by far the best thing Nokia have ever come up with, but what you seem to like to ignore is the fact that the W900 has already been released. Almost 2 months ago in fact. The N80 however is still "coming soon" (yeah sure its coming soon - if Nokia's previous announce-release policy is anything to go by its gonna be summer before we see the N80) So you're comparing a phone of the future with a phone of today. Different generation and different class of phones Viperkid, therefore, unfair comparison. You know this only too well but carry on with your meaningless unfair comparisons. How many times do you need to hear this before you stop?
You tried to cover yourself by then going on to the 6280 and your main point is that its cheaper than the W900 yet the specs are similar.. OF COURSE IT IS CHEAPER IT'S A NOKIA!!!!!!
We've already discussed why SE's cost more - Same with any Sony TV's, DVD players, laptops etc etc - always cost a little more. SE phones are no different. You're paying that bit extra for a reputable brand name and the guarantee of a decent quality product. Can nokia offer that same guarantee and respected brand name?
Viperkid, we've argued about this before, and personally I'd rather not waste time covering old ground. Can you not just accept that the quality and kudos of Sony's products are reflected in their price? Same applies to SE phones. There will always be certain features that don't please everyone, SE's screens are not good enough for me, the W810's is a disappointment, but so what - is there such a thing as the perfect phone?
I think what boogie and ryanloh were trying to get at is that Nokia churn out so much rubbish up to everyone else. Yeah, the N80 is excellent, but for every one good phone, Nokia have 30 bad ones. And the way they mislead their customers with their announce-release policy is a disgrace. The amount of "coming soon" models on the Nokia page of GSM arena is like 6 times more than any other manufacturer. Viperkid, its inevitable that when a company produces such volumes, quality will slip. Deny it all you like, point out faults with SE models all you like, but you can;t hide the truth that 90% of Nokias are sub-standard, and that 90% adds up to way more sub-standard models than anyone else!
You can go on comparing the N80 to all of the SE models all you like, but what happens when SE come along with a competitor for it? (which I'm sure will be released around the same time as the N80 - SE just don't go misleading their customers into thinking a phone is coming soon only to delay delay delay). So when that SE competitor comes, what are you gonna slate SE for then Viperkid??? You'll have to go back to price. So if thats the case, you should go off and leave similar comments on a Sony Plasma forum, a laptop forum, a dvd player forum. etc etc etc. You'll get the same response everywhere though so I wouldn't waste your time.

calm down viperkid... look carefully which Nokia phones they are talking about dowwww.... They aren't mentioning N80 at all... they are talking about 6680.. in which sense i will speak in favour of them. If you are talking about N80 (which to be released at about later this year) i will speak in favour of you. They shld not generalise the statement into nokia.. that's y you get angry because of your favourite's being badly judge ^_^, i understand that very well, it happens in all over the world about this argueing things.

i totally disagree about.. nokia only can give/offer mediocrity and/or average of everything (e.g. sound quality, processing speed, screen colour/pixel, build, video, bluetooth, interface, etc, etc) that is completely untrue! in fact, how can boogie and ryanloh say those baseless, biased and as i may say, illogical comments about nokia especially when W900 first became available in the market w/ d price of $900++ with dat amount of bucks, u'll not find WLAN feature, and offer only 320 x 240 screen resolution against d upcoming N80 (which will b on d same price range, [apparently and definitely, cheaper than W900]) give WLAN, offer you 352 x 416 screen res w/ symbian 9.1 OS an added bonus! also, another example, (for others who might say im biased cuz i compared W900 to a smartphone and say they're not on d same segment blah blah even if W900 is relatively more expensive than N80 plus d fact dat dey may add 'N80 is not even out yet blah blah') 6280 is definitely cheaper than W900 and give you virtually same set of features and i know for a fact that it can capture/playback videos on VGA (640 x 480), CIF, etc. resolution compared to the inferior 320 x 240 (QVGA) encoding/decoding found on W900. now tell me who offers mediocrity and/or average performance on a majority of features on a cellphone. all i can say is SE just offers you so-so phone features (e.g. y a majority of their phones can't show SIM & phone memory [on phonebook] at d same time, store only 1 entry on a field [lyk 1 mobile, 1 fax, 1 home, et al under a name]; press a lot more of 'more' softkey or down cursor in reading long messages compared with nokia; and only play around 10 seconds when a mp3 file or d like was set to a msg alert which will lead to delayed replies (probably cuz 10 sec is a bit short to notice right away a msg was rcvd). btw, a friend of mine had K750i and he said when rcvng/making calls, he hardly hear d one who called or he called even the earpiece volume is set to max. dat's wat i call "so-so phone" features! oh b4 i forget, regarding build quality, a nephew of mine had W800, after he dropped it (he's around 4'8") from his hand to d floor, the auto-focus went nuts and resulted into fugly unfocused images, now he's back to his more reliable motorola E398. now let's talk about screen colour, nokia and panasonic had introduced models with 16M colour screen (e.g. one of d e-series; in panasonic (VS, MX & SA series), i don't know with Sony Ericsson.. now somebody tell me who/gives mediocrity and/or average features on a mobile phone..

Redtooth
Although it only has low internal memory, it comes supplied with a 512mb memory card - and it seems that having smaller on-board memory but making up with it with inclusive cards is an effective way of keeping the nice small dimensions but still leaving the user with plenty of memory. Lets face it, it's not a major prob having a memory card rather than internal mem is it????
The battery life is lower due to the inclusion of EDGE. If you switch the EDGE off, you should see an increase in battery life.
Camera cover I guess was seen as a non-essential as the shape of the camera surround will eliminate lens damage. I'm sure cost and weight were considered also when SE decided to omit the lens cover.
DI
No difference - same phone. SE website calls it the K750i, GSMArena calls is K750. T-Mobile call it D750. In China its the K750c. Same phone.

how come this phone only has 20 mb built in memory while the k750 has 38mb built in? and why is the battery life on stand by 50 hours shorter!? plus where the hell did the camera cover go? i guess i am asking tough questios of the w810, but these questions need answers

Yeah i agreed with boogie, ethan it seems like u not like any of sony phone at all since u say even w900i not good... boogie is right nokia only give u average everything like sound quality, processing speed, screen colour/pixel, build, video, bluetooth, interface, etc, etc...
Yeah symbian is a good plus for nokia but it doesn't mean everything not like sony, they give good quality everything that i mention above~!!! expecially e interface cause nokia interface really sucks n hangs alot.

I have to agree with boogie. Not to mention the battery life. I bought the K750i a while ago, and I was in doubt wether to get the K750 or the 6680, as I wanted a hi-quality multimedia phone. However, I just noticed the W810 and I'm considering and upgrade.

no offense ethan, but you seem to be overrating the 6680 yourself. sure it offers lots of functions, but all come in mediocrity. so-so mp3 player, so-so cam, so-so gaming function...and so the list goes on. if you're ok with not-so-satisfying functions then you're good with your nokia. but at least not for me though :)

i think all of these walkman phones are overrated (motorola, sony ericcson) if you are considering getting one of these i would suggest checking out symbian os phones because i had a sony ericcsson the sold it and got a nokia 6681 and i us it as my mp3 player, video player, gamboy(super goboy app)
and i comes with real player and you can download a bunch of other stuff

it would be better if they made the screen resolution to QVGA, maybe SE still does not have the technology and/or capability to do high resolution screens in a smaller surface/size than what is found on W900 (apparently Samsung, Nokia and others can do it [e.g. D600, 7380, 7370 et al). i hope SE can still add more "walkman" features lyk being able to record FM broadcasts, play more music formats especially wma and perhaps an AM tuner would be a good bonus. not to forget d ability to play more than 10 seconds (after rcvng a SMS, etc) when message alert is set to a mp3 file and d lyk (its kinda short, which often make u not to notice a msg was rcved particularly in noisy environments, dat will lead to delayed replies). another flaw of SE phones that i think should have been fixed a long tym, being able to show SIM card & phonebook memory simultaneously! if in any situation those improvements were made, maybe i'll go back & purchase once again a SE phone otherwise it's not worth it (for me). oh, symbian OS, another big factor and important thing! peace out! by the way W810 is going to be available by March 2006 in Vodafone, even earlier than N80.. here's d link:
