will gsm ever post a review on this phone? its been a while now and even non released phones have received reviews from them. sure there are other reviews but i think a review by gsm would make it official so to speak.
but at this rate its possible gsm would not do a review...hope this is not the case

how can you compare the w850 ith the n73? there totaly differen't phones lol. nothing to compare between the two apart from there phones... the w850i is better built... more style... looks better is is basically a better phone... just to let you know aswell it has a BETTER battery then the n73 which is appauling life...
> Mukul Dudeja
the w850i is the higher end of the two. it also has better software on the phone... the w810i has walkman version 1.0 whee as the w850 has version 2.0... visually looks btter on the phone and the functions have been imporved... including a good feature where u can record 10 seconds of a song and it will tell you what the song is tyhe artist ect..

Batgirl: Well, the crackling on the screen hasn't happened ever since I wrote my previous post, so I think it might be due to some static or something, but it's just a wild guess, 'coz it hasn't occured again today at all. But I don't think it should be a cause for worry. The S700i I previously had was prone to a few quirks of its own from time to time, but never failed on me. I think its probably something to do with the OS that SE uses. Nothing to worry about, though. And if in case something does happen, the phone is in warranty for a year at the least. Always remember to back up your data, be it your PC or any other electronic data storage devices.
Nick: Haven't used the conversion software provided in the kit, so I can't really answer your question. I only transferred my pre-ripped collection on to the phone, with no re-ripping required. I only converted the mp3 files to AAC in iTunes.
Unknown poster: Even I can't zoom the camera. It's pretty useless anyway, since digital zoom destroys photo quality. Since the camera on this model is of a slightly inferior quality to the one on the other W series and the K800/790i, I think SE made a good choice by leaving out the zoom. If, however, zoom is possible, then I must feign ignorance on the same front.
Independant George: I paid USD 450 for the phone (incl. of all local taxes).
ricky: Please use the phone before commenting on it. On this forum, we don't comment on other phones if we haven't used them. All we can express our opinion on is a product that is being used or has been used for a significant period of time. Going through your post, it is quite obvious that you've never even held the phone in your hand, let alone use it. Please refrain from any more useless posting.

i don't think so that it will help music lovers as first of all its battery back up is not so good more over u have to slide it every time u use it, hence it is not a good phone for a longer run,and later in time it will.So better to go for N73 rather than to take..

Just wondering im considering this phone, when you rip your cd's can you choose as to what format you like, i.e mp3 or the eaac+ format which means you can get 1000 songs on a 1GB card?
Cheers

I bought the phone a couple of days ago, and I've seen the crackling effect on the screen when i get the phone out of standby a few times. But it doesn't happen all the time.
The phone itself is excellent, but I wish the keypad were little more ergonomic, because I have large fingers, and find the key spacing a little close for optimum comfort. Also, when will SE start incorporating radio into the phone, rather than in the handsfree? I had an S700i previously, and thought this was a pretty obvious rectification that should have been done by now.
Also, I'm using the 1Gb card that came with the package. I've heard, and read that 128kbps mp3 audio is almost CD quality. Don't know whether it's true or not, but close to 80% of my music is ripped at 128. And if I convert to 96kbps AAC, I get the same audio quality on both my Altec Lansing MX5021 speakers attached to my laptop, as well as on the W850i. That's saying something!

Had this phone nearly a week now and im loving it. The slide mechanism isnt as strong as my old handset (sasmung D600) which worries me a bit but im going to look after this one a lot better. I havent got a clue how to to album covers for the CDs. Got 12 albums on it so far and its still working fine.
The camera is pretty mint better then my other 2mp camera. Although im getting use to using the camera. Battery life has been great so far. Only charged it twice and i listen to music on the way to work.
Ace phone!!

K800 and W850 are almost the same, only difference is the music interface and the camera interface and multimedia features,.. K800 has only better in camera department but also has a good music player, W850 has also a good camera but not as good as Cybershot in K800... but rather tend to be better in music due to the walklman interface, higher memory card and light effects and a more sporty design... but all in all both are SE's Best and leader in non-os phones...

its true that the camera is not as good as the k800i, but after all this is a music phone not a camera phone. I think people shoudnt compare this to k800, i've used both phones, and i think they're all great. This phone has alot of functions that are new, such as new version 2.0 Walkman, music visualiztion, good camera, and my favorite, the orange light effect that dances along the beat of the music, it is so cool.
