yes it is normal for the screen to go gloomy and then brighter. It has a sensor in it that detects how much light there is on the phone so it alters the screen lighting up depending on what lighting conditions you are in.

hye there guys...just got this phone last 2 days...the phone is great...just one thing that's keep bugging me,the lcd screen will get gloomy sometimes eventhough i'm pressing the buttons...after a couple of seconds,it will be back to normal....is that normal for this phone?my K800i didn't have this problem...thanx....
