Hey Peeps, Just a quick question I have been through many opinions on the phone, I think it looks like a brilliant phone but tell me my Sony Ericsson W850i got stolen and this is it's replacement. I heard the loudspeaker wasn't that good is the clarity good though...And no flash is a huge downside as it's a convenient backup light for when you really need it... Otherwise besides what the specs on the phone are would you say this is still something worth looking at... And how is the camera is it the same quality as the W850i... But i suppose for the slimness of this phone you still getting a allround gem!!!

What you said...
"It's not perfect - no USB 2 (use a card reader) or flash spring to mind..."
Unless I'm misunderstanding what you said, this Does have a USB 2, is the GsmArena site making a mistake about the USB 2? There are other site which say it Has a USB 2 as well.

I didn't say 48 hours wasn't good for 3G, I asked how to switch it off as I don't use it and would prefer the longer battery life.

48 hours using 3G / mail is not bad at all. Try pda phones or Nokia, you will end up with less as 24 hours

Hiya.
I've had this phone for about a week and everything seems good, except for my battery. I've charged it quite a few times within the week (after the 16 hours when new) and it only seems to last less than 48 hours. I think it could be because my 3G is switched on, but I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone know how to switch it off, or if there could be another reason as to why my battery keeps going flat? (A friend of mine has a Sony Ericsson phone, and says the battery can last up to a week)
Thanks. :-)

Just some thoughts from me why I prefer this over a D900 I had. I realise they're aimed at different users but...
Much easier in the hand - it may be 'only' 5mm less width but it makes a big difference. Also around 25% thinner than the D900 which all adds up to a much better feel and ease of use. I find the D900s width causes you to stretch too much.
Menus - hands down the Sony menu system is far more intuitive and easy to use than the Samsung offering. Why Samsung insist on sub-menus obscuring the current menu is a mystery.
Build quality - The D900 feels quite cheap and plasticy. I also felt the slide action had too much play/wobble and would only get worse after sustained use. W880i has the solid-feeling metal front and rubbery rear to help with grip.
Battery - The D900 was good, the W880i is great. It can take a beating and still last for 5 days easily.
Signal - I get a better signal from the W880i.
Music Player - W880i as expected is a winner here. The bundled 1gb card is nice and is quite sufficient for alot of people.
I give the D900 the edge on camera for the autofocus and flash although the the W880i is quite adequate for a candid phone camera. Just not in dim light.
One area I found surprisingly good was the W880i keypad. Coming from the D900 it was strange at first and I had to adjust and be more accurate with my presses. After a few days, it felt like second nature and the keys give good response. I find the thin, small keys easy to use and nowhere near as cumbersome as I imagined they would be when I saw the phone in pictures.
Texting at speed is not a problem and the Sony interface is better as it requires less key presses to get the character or word you want.
It's not perfect - no USB 2 (use a card reader) or flash spring to mind but if you're looking for a sleek, light, easily-pocketable phone/walkman/candid snapper that will last for days, you could do alot worse than the W880i.
