nokia 6500 only has 40 mins talk time till the battery is completly dead whats the point of making tht phone sony ericssons last way longer than nokia i am dissapointed in nokias i use to like them not any more its sony ericssons know - i have this phone its worth every penny

Scotto you are right!
This phone worth about $250 USD.
After all it has no special features beside it looks and it has a big disadvantage - small buttons.
I am sorry that you could not wait and you gave away 150 USD to a global corporation instead of supporting the poor and starving people or kids.
150 USD can save several people´s life!!!!
Think about that when you look at your ´beautiful´phone.
By the way, changing your phone regularly you are not just wasing resources (money, material, energy etc., keeping the prices up, but also create additional hazardous waste since used phones are not exactly biodegradable.
Your new phone will be a junk in a few months.
While people riot because of lack of food and
high food prices (South America and Africa)
UN unable to feed them due to change of food prices - grains used for making fuel.
So, fill up your SUV, and enjoy your phone - if you can!

If this is a walkman phone why is the music playback quality is so bad?
Taiwanese forum reports intermittent screen errors.
W890 is not the first one with screen problems.
Battery is also a source of problems.

Its quite an amazing phone in design and build quality. I agree it is overpriced fro the features you get, but you are paying for the small size and super thin profile. The speaker could be louder, but the ringtones are very loud and the quality out of headphones is amazing. The camera is pretty good considering how thin it is and has a good- easy to use (one click) picture fix feature. The keys are a little small for my big fingers :) but have good response and are much better the 610 which I had to sell because of the keypad. Talk volume and clarity are top notch.
Internet is very nice , and it has some cool themes and features. If your looking for a smartphone of course this isn't it. If you text alot , I might look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a great looking small and solid handset with good features and performance look no further, of course if you wait the price will go down. I would say this phone should be about 250.00 to 300.00 U.S. I myself couldn't wait :) and love the phone, it trounces pretty much what is available here in the states from the cell providers.

Has anyoone had any trouble with the screen flickering at the top of the screen - only got this phone 2 days ago but am impressed havent had a SE before but i like it. Very simple to use.

The only why he is saying that is Becuase the Speakers are not Loud enough for him or The Camera doesnt have Flash!
2 Daft reasons why not to buy a W890i.
which isnt the point.
1. Its a Walkman Phone. not a Cyber-Shot one. they have the Flash's on Cameras
2. W890i is Slim. thats why the Speakers are not as Loud as say 6500 Slide which is a Slide Phone.
if you want Flash and Louder Loudspeakers then get the 6500 Slide it will Suit your needs.

The phone is excellent in terms of Display, Firmware Stability & Headset Output Sound. I'd say voice quality during telephonic conversation & speed of firmware are above average. It's average in terms of Camera (Flash could have been added). The speaker of the phone has really poor sound (volume) considering this is supposed to be a genuine walkman phone from SE. Clarity of the speaker is just average.
Had bought the phone on 5th april, used it for 24 hrs & returned it. I found out that the phone is very highly priced for the functionality it offers. Nokia 6500 or 5610 are much better phones in the same price range.

SE W890 has gone out of the Top 3 Rated phones. What a huge drop! Hope the price would drop otherwise their sales would also drop.

every phone i read peoples comments on seems to have low battery life lol
also iv tried out this phone and it is awesome, the screen very clear and the camera is really good, i might even buy it now "wish it was slightly less expensive >_

SE C902 beats W890 every aspect.
So you do not need to be a Nokia man to say the W890 just fall short of expectations and overpriced.

I am not a Nokia fan. They are too slow to come up with new design.
SE irritates me because they so greedy.
Yes, W89ö is a nicebasic phone - but for $500 USD? That is a joke!
Now the price dropped! But just because the sales are very low!
You people who buy it for any price screwing it up for the rest of the people.
For people who can not afford this unrealistic price or for people who just do not accept SE greed. We don´t wanna be taken as a fool.
As I wrote before: with the extra $200 you can literally save somebody life!
W890 can be a good backup phone, but it has no special features so the price should be around 250-300 USD.
When you spend your money try to be a responsible citizen of the Earth!
Even if you have money to burn.

For some reason I feel the new W series phone are not that good quality. I nearly bought this phone to replace my trustworth high battery life W810 phone. one of by friend replaced his samsung (exchange) with W580 and then W580 with W890. in 20 days he sold W890 and got a K810. So Lesson Learnt was I still kept my W810 (without a2dp) and then bought a HTC touch cruise until Sony release Xperia. Still after two years My W810 can play Music for 22hours in music mode.

Samsung (backup phone while dealing with Nokia lemons) = Yugo.
W890i = BMW...solid performance, tight package.
It's a good phone. Would I have preferred it for less? Yes. But it has everything I need in a phone...so it works very well for me. If you don't like it, there are a couple thousand other phones you can try.

R3gx - very smart but not smart enough!
Everything sucks (Yugo)but SE is great (BMW)?
If you are so smart why you go through 3 ´Yugos´ (junks) before you get a ´BMW´ - this does not make sense!
You are incapable to evaluate a product and that case your opinion does not count or you making up your story.
How many people buy/use 3 ´Yugos´(junk cars) while looking for a BMW quality car?
By the way, the only similarity between a BMW and W890 is that they both overpriced and unreliable (need lots of service).
But at least the BMW offer some unique features while the W890 has absolutely nothing special to offer.
May be that is the reason you compared it to a $200 USD phone - correctly.
