the thing im dissapointed about this phone is u cant customise ur own equalizer..im a soundaholic so i would like to customise my own equaliser settings to suit my taste..

Excellent review there by James. I had my eyes on the M600i but after reading that I'm almost tempted to buy this one. Decisions, decisions!

i just love the watching video in this phone! though price is slightly high, u'll be satisfied with the music quality n friendliness of the system!

What is the difference with M600? (except the 4gb internal memory, that you can add as a memory stick in M600)

I have owned this phone for a few months now.
First off, I don't need a camera on my phone. There are no GOOD camera phones, the camera is still a gimmick unfortunatly. When we see nice 8MP+ camera phones with decent manual functionality then I may consider one but for the time being the quality of in built cams is very poor.
The phone is very attractive and has a large screen, its not particularly small but the in built 4gb hard drive and as I say large screen make up for that.
The keypad is fiddly at first (lacking defined buttons) but quickly becomes second nature.
The OS is stable and the phone runs applications quickly and reliably.
To answer a few questions, the phone plays video files upto the limit of the physical memory, so the max would be slightly under 4gb. The quality and size of the screen make this an excellent phone for people who like to watch video on their phone.
To correct someone above, the phone does of course have an in built speaker! Not that anyone who would buy this phone would use it for anything more than speakerphone anyway.
Some people have been dissapointed with the volume of ringtones. For me this has not been an issue, I find them loud enough and the alarm certainly wakes me up.
For playing music, as of course is the main function, this phone excels. I bought it because I could not face being one of those idiots with white headphones and wires dangling about my person.
For me 4gb is ample room for music, I have currently around 25 albums on mine and three series of a radio comedy program I like, thats a lot of listening.
The quality of the audio is generally great. The standard headphones are good but not great, lacking low end like pretty much all ear buds, but on the positive they are very comfortable and as always sony provides a few different sized rubbery bits to suit everyones ears!
During playback album art is diplayed and you have a choice of various different visualisations which are all quite pretty.
On the whole this is an excellent phone for people who want to listen to music and don't want to take small high iso images.
The negatives...
The phone is not the easiest to text on. I can just about manage it one handed but with it being touch screen some of the more demanding inputs, like grammer (for those of us who still care about english) can be difficult, two hands no problem, the stylus is extremely responsive on screen.
The handwriting recognition is no great but seems to learn? Spooky.
The volume keys on the side are not locked when the rest of the phone is, this is stupid and annoying. Nearly everytime I take it out of my pocket I am confronted with the volume controls wich require a screen tap to close.
Thats about it really.
If you can afford this phone then you probably have a decent digital camera already. Buy it and chuck you ipod in the bin where it belongs.

Such a nice fone with virtually all the features a nice fone shoould have. But i wonder why it doesn't have a camera.Too bad!

Yeah... SE has released a great phone that has many abilities and you must buy it if you're in that kind of organization.

camera is not important in phone if u have camera digital, because it make alot problem in ur phone, i think w950 = 100%

I had it here in uk and am very happy with it but it is not good for camera lovers but i have with me w900 as well so dont need camera. sound quality is very goos lots of memory ooooooooo i am loving it.

of all the things that Sony would do is bring out a 4GB phone and no camera! For you who think that phones take crappy pics, check out the K750i, that takes very good pics!!

Not having camera is good. Few organisations does not allow cameras inside the premises for data security reason. My company is one of them.

Second to you, WalkiPodRokr. Quadband is a MUST for smartphone! But this is a a smartphone right?

I have no trouble with camera issue. It's just no quadband and wifi that bother me. Which I like the most from phone is the design. It seems mixture of a unique segment, for business people who also wantsto have fun with music ;) Well done SE!!! Please SE release a new version of this fone which still no camera (business meeting oftenly prohibited camera), but it have to be a quadband, having wifi b/g and blackberry too.

please no ,more comments about the lack of camera. How many times does it have to be repeated.
if you want to take photos don't buy this phone. Or even better buy a proper digital camera. Phones take rubbish pitures anyway

sony keep it up grate to your elbow,but one thing you should know that this w950 i love it so much but one thing it does not have camera why ? plz in the next new development try to put camera.
