the n82 isnt a camera phone though is it. its just a phone that does everything, and everything it does, it does well.
nokias arent like sony erricsons.
when they release a 5mp on their phones, they brand "cybershot" all over it and all the fans of SE think WOW! IT must be better than all the other handsets! when it isnt.
likewise when they release a phone that can play mp3's (well done SE coinsidently, phones have been able to do that for years) everyone goes mad because it says "walkman".
well you know i can kind of read between the lines and i see "rip-off".
these camera phones and walkman phones just do something all other phones can do.
except the walkmans come with a stupid 567,000 pin headphone slot so they can charge you when the adapter breaks.
and the cybershot phones cant record video above 1fps. its just stupid, its a cameraphone isnt it? that includes video because its all to do with imaging.
the nokia has this all in one device. Oh and dont say the walkman range have dedicated music keys, okay because i could just swop the "N82" with "n95 8gb" okay.

@ tsepz, or any one else who uses opera mini on this page, has the layout changed or is it just me?
@ nick, maybe it has a better camera, & GPS but apart from that what does it have? admit it the n82 is a better camera phone & the w960i is a better music phone.

no they are not trying to be difficult
thats absolute rubbish.
they are just trying to charge you for when the adapter brakes.
tehre is no other reason for it. can you think of one?

i agree with you on the built in 3.5mm jack built in thing.
well this is how Sony Market there products.
if all Walkman phones had 3.5mm jack built in.
dont you think Nokia would just loose all their money with N-Series and Music Phones?
its just Sony Being Different. same with Samsung Phones they have the 3.5mm jack on the Earphones Wire!
so why argue over something which isnt just SE ?

People we all know Nokia's more features etc.
SE's might have an old UI but its Stable like new Nokia's e.g. N95 8GB/N82 and just as good!

the difference between W960i and N82 is the Sales Package and Music Output and this List!
W960i has:
Better Earphones
Better Output of Music
Maybe better Battery Life
Proper Music NAVIGATION!
Touchscreen
Walkman Touch Player(Best ever!)
Great BASS and Sound Output(even with other earphones)
Fast internet
etc etc i could go on and on.....
now tell me what does N82 have? except 3.5mm hjack and fast internet and Xenon Flash(off topic)

The only advantage N82 has over W960 in music is the 3.5mm jack, dual speakers and UPnP technology. I clearly did say that N82 sound quality is not great.
I didn't bash UIQ2 OR UIQ2.1 or even UIQ3, i simply was saying that UIQ3 implemantation isn't the best eg P990, and that it's current Hardware doesn't support some newer things, just like how S60v3 doesn't have 3D menus and Touchscreen.
When i talk support i mean Firmware support, the whole Custom services thing like repairs etc. . . Realy can't be compared, on my side if you hand in a dead NOKIA it takes ONE day to be repaired and it's back with you, with both SE and NOKIA when it comes to hardware damage on my side ive heard of people having to wait 5weeks-2months sometimes for a P1 to be fixed and a Nokia N93, it realy depends where you are in my opinion.

Furthermore, I dont really like the threatening note in your post, and despite saying you wont bash the w960i, you have bashed all UIQ 3.0/.1/.2 phones by Sony ericsson.
There are problems with every brand, and so far Sony Ericsson support has been better than my experience with nokia: 3 day turn around repair as opposed to 28-31 days turn around by Nokia.

Tsepz, I would also doubt that the sound experience would be any different between the N82 and the N95, although i am free to any evidence you bring to the table to change my mind. : )

Tsepz, I would like you to tell me those advantages that you think the N82 has in the music department over the w960i. admittedly, better camera, but that has nothing to do with it tbh.
So do tell me those advantages.
And about "bugs". Every phone will always have its fair share of bugs, both large and small, the w960 has a few bugs with the older firmware im using at any rate, but i wouldnt say that it had any more than most other symbian phones.
Both the N82 & N95 8gb, and the w960 & P1i etc are all good phones.

The adapter on N81, N82, N95, N95-8gb etc. . . headphones has a Microphone, Remote Control plus another 3.5mm jack for extension.
The N95 in v21 FW is nearly bug free, so is N95-8gb with v15 FW, wish i could say the same about the SE P990, M600, and W950, and it looks like from what ive read the P1 and W960 have inherited some bugs, i suggest you never bring up bugs again because theres A LOT to be said about SEs support for their phones and most of it is negative.

Theres realy no point in comparing. Unfortunetly the W960 doesn't carry all the "must haves" of a Music phone,but im not here to bash it. The N82 in most aspects does have advantages over W960, even in the Music department but in all fairness the N82 doesn't have good sound quality, its worse than N95 at this. I realy do hope SE have learnt their lesson with W960 and the rest of their current UIQ3 line-up, because right now there's realy not much support. The Hardware that UIQ3 is currently using unfortunetly also doesn't support HSDPA, OR Rotating UI, Im sure SE will realse a good UIQ3.3 model (P5 maybe) IF THEY HAVE LEARNT CORRECT OS implementation.

I could use the same argument against you. Just cause you NEED a 3.5 mm jack doesn't mean everyone does. I dont think that having a 3.5mm jack would rate particularly highly in the "needs" of a phone for most users. Sure, it would have been nice to have the option i suppose but really its like saying you won't buy a car because it doesnt have a cup holder!
Its a tiny little extra length of wire right. then plug in your own headphones and have a microphone. Dont get carried away mate.
Secondly, i did rebut your 3.5g point. The fact of the matter is that most people wont be able to afford the charges placed on downloading the song or paying for the overpriced song! last time i checked it was £2 for a song on o2. that was a year ago, never used the service since.
As for the download speeds, 3G is more than ample speeds for me thanks. I'm going to be using wifi much more frequently. HSDPA's speeds of 3.6 mbps is only reached under superb conditions, and reception isnt that great. It also sucks your battery life. 3G is ample, i am not greedy. I have used 3G 3 times, and it was fast enough.
Most users DONT need 3.5G, they just get carried away with numbers. Its a irrelevant feature.
The fact of the matter is you have pointed out 2 small factors which are more add ons that would be nice, but really are irrelevant. I dont need either.
So nick, have you got any DECENT points to make? or will you finally acknowledge the truth:
W960i is a better music phone.
N82 is a better camera phone.
