Mani, 05 Nov 2008What really attracted me to this phone was the FM Transmitt... moreyes, definitely a good feature, but personally prefer a CD. i think the FM transmitter uses too much batt aswell. thats another thing i prefer a mp3 disc.
but anyway. my screen protector isnt peeling off, maybe u didnt put it on properly, make sure the edges dont stick out =]
i have a crystal case on, and it isnt that big. only bad thing is, hard to press the volume button with the case on =]

espe... moreWhat really attracted me to this phone was the FM Transmitter. Although I have a MP3 plyer in my car, I still liked the idea of having this feature on a phone, and having the 8GB memory on the phone helps aswell - (as I have a Music player, Camera and a Phone all in 1) - and I dont have to be in a car to get it working. Yes, it does disconnect when you recive a call - however mine automatically re-connects itself when I have finished the call. The sound quality in my car is the same as a C.D (when I can find an empty radio station. . .
The screen on the phone is TOO small. When I record a video or have taken a picture, I wont be able to view it clearly, but I was impressed when I connected it to my laptop.
I tried a case for the phone, bought it of ebay aswell, the phone felt twice as big, so I took it off. Personally I dont like bulky handsets. Screen protectors - tried aswell, within a week, they peel off!
The sound quality I would say is a lot better with the earphone then without, although it is loud, it doesnt have a good quality sound.
Personally, overall, I would give this phone a: 6.5 out of 10...

especially those who uses it in the car.
u have to press so much buttons each time u start the car.
and the fmt ransmitter disconencts when u get a call.
and u have to go thru the whole process again.
also, the sound quality isnt as great, so u might as well just use a CD =]
as for the scratchs, u can always get a case on ebay =] and if u dont like cases, get screen protectors..
they fit perfect, and if u do it properly.. it doesnt look like u have a screen protector at all =]

dean, 01 Nov 2008im now on my second w980.
both phones froze and shut down ... moreyes.
mine shut down once while using walkman.
and froze onces using camera night mode

BUT the position of the speakers on the w980 is better then the w850.

Just wanna ask*(typo)..for those who already own W980, does the phones sound quality without the headphone, just as good as with the headphones?
Yes, some of you guys may think that this is a stupid question, for reasons like, who would listen loud in public, etc. But me and my mates listen to our previous music phones just like that(hanging out, jamming, etc). So just wanna ask if it's still good. Would really appreciate even a little comment :D

I've had the Sony Ericsson W980 phone now for about 2 months. Swapped it for the Sony Ericsson W960i (rubbish).
It's okay.
Very disappointed that the camera does not have flash. But when there is good daylight, it does take good quality pictures what I have uploaded on Facebook.
The Phone also has a FM Transmitter, which I think is a very good feature (if you can find a empty radio station).
The outer shell of the phone is very sensitive, it scratches very easily (need to be VERY carefull that you dont drop it).
The keypad feels comfortable when your writting a text.
The Music Player is fantastic!! The battery life is poor if you have been using the music player all day.
The menu layout seems a little dated.
But as long as the phone lasts me about a 1 or so, I will be happy.

i've heard a few comments about the lag on this phone.
how bad is it really? i've got a nokia N95 that lags quite a bit. is it worse than that?

also the 5 button seems depressed to far. i dont no if its design or another fault.
im gutted as i wanted this phone so badly but now im thinking of getting rid and getting maybe the c902 or a lower w series. i had the w850 and that was exelent and never had a problem with that.
has any one else had shut down issues when listening to mp3's on the walkman?

and just got the w980 2 weeks ago..
w980 batt life is worse than the w850 which is 2 yrs old lol
and the phone is way laggier than the w850 (which update software should solve problem)
