I need help please!I live in Greece,got this nice phone 2 days ago.I cannot transmit my music through my cars FM radio,sais that in my country is illegal!!any ideas PLEASE.Thanks in advance

I wanted to buy this phone to my gfd because of this lovely pictures:

But then I saw how thick it is. It's thicker than the Iphone. So I am still looking for another phone. Probably not a SE. SE W980=fail as it costs only 30€ less than a N95 8GB.

AW - did you get the problem sorted with battery? I reckon it was a defective battery rather than the phone itself. Unless it just needed a few charge cycles to get going? Mine seemed so-so initially but after about the second charge it's really lasted ages, even though I use the musicplayer and games a lot.
If anyone else is considering the phone, I'd recommend it. As well as the brilliant music quality (as you'd expect from Walkman) it just has so many extra features that you'd never have though of but really come in handy. For instance, flight mode lets you use the device (for music, games etc) where phones would normally have to be switched off e.g. airports and hospitals. I also used it while on holiday to make sure costly calls didn't come through from the UK. It's also pretty cool that you can transmit your tunes from W980 to a radio e.g. your car stereo!

How is the sound quality in the ear piece? My last phone a w580 had very bad sound for calls and I am afraid to buy another SE phone for that reason.

Just got mine this week and it's been amazing. The real thing looks so much better than the picture. Sound quality is excellent. The mic is very loud. I tried calling my friend my she said I spoke too loud! Music player is beyond comparision. Camera is satisfied enough for music phone. The FM transmitter works flawlessly and sound from a radio is very good. The only donwfall is that it take way too long if you try to transfer GBs of musics using Music Manager (better drag and drop.) Anotherthing I don't like is that the accelerometer is not very responsive; sometime it doesn't rotate back to the position. Overall, this is an amazing phone with a very few minor irritations.

I have had this phone for nearly a month now and i actually love it!!
The price is in the £250-£300 range on PAYG and free on many £30 contracts, which is well worth what this phone has to offer!
The 3.2MP camera is more than sufficient on a music orientated phone, alongside 8GB of internal memory; enough space for 2000 songs!
The vibration feature on the outer touch controls is perfectly refined, and the controls are not fiddly or temperamental like many touch-controlled handsets. Sony Ericsson have even added a sliding 'hold' button on the outer casing, like many mp3 players, so you cant change the song in-pocket. the 'walkman on top' feature makes th phone act as if you have both a phone and an mp3 player conjoinedallowing full walkman access without opening the phone.
The motion sensitive game, Need For Speed Pro Street has offered me many hours of fun, steering the car by tilting the phone.
On a more practical note, the main buttons inside the handset are very large, indented and with about 5mm between each, allow for very fast texting.
In reply to comments; i have had no problems whatsoever with battery life and i am using this phone for music upto 5hrs daily :)
This phone is a marvel of Sony Ericsson's W series, with no bad points whatsoever. I would strongly recommend you buy this phone!!!

Had my 980 for about 3 weeks now. When it comes to looks, its best phone I've ever owned. The walkman is awesone. But its slower than my 850i tho I guess I'll get used to that. My issue is with battery life. 300 hours standby, what a joke. It was fine at first but now the battery is running out after about 30 hours, during which time I'm doing nothing but send a few texts. Seems from some comments here this is a common problem.
I rang Vodafone today and they have ordered me a new battery. Am I wasting my time?
