abhi, 07 Apr 2011Everything about super amoled plus has been quoted till now... moreYes u r right that GSMarena is not fully trusted they also do mistakes
for example in nokia n8 review they said that

"Battery life is not on par with best in the business"

and we all know that nokia n8 battery life is best what the functions it is givin.

AnonD-367, 07 Apr 2011adhi what happen to u are u ok ? see what GSMarena said ... moreEverything about super amoled plus has been quoted till now by the company itself. There is no actual proof if it's actually better than super amoled plus or not.
We should wait for actual review before saying anything.
Morover I don't like Gsmarena's double attitude. When it comes to camera they always say that we want a camera which could produce the most realistic and natural pics but when they talk abt screens they like the most over saturated screens which isn't right.

Wait until super amoled plus is thoroughly reviewed and then we will see if it's a improvement or not.

abhi, 06 Apr 2011Nokia phones with AMOLED screen r suffering from Purple/Blu... moreadhi what happen to u are u ok ?

see what GSMarena said in MWC 2011 about Samsung Galaxy S II

"The new Super AMOLED Plus display is quoted to have an improved response time, reportedly beating LCD IPS technology. The should also reduce power consumption by 18%"
"Super AMOLED Plus also comes with a Real Stripe matrix. Theoretically, this means images may be a wee bit sharper looking, though at first glance you won’t see the difference between the regular Super AMOLED and the Plus one. The Pentile matrix of the previous gen SAMOLED screens was the main cause for some overly geeky criticism."
"However an AMOLED stretching over 4.3 inches is a joy to behold.Of course the reduced thickness of the Super AMOLED Plus has certainly helped Samsung make the Galaxy S II so slim and the even better power efficiency is great news to all power users."

and here what they say about Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc

"Of course, an LCD unit is unable to match the natural contrast of an AMOLED screen, but given that limitation Sony Ericsson have done an excellent job of things. However the Reality screen does have a problem with its viewing angles. The advantage it holds against competition when looked from the best possible angle quickly disappears as you go wider. The writings of the screen might remain visible but contrast degrades very quickly and colors get vastly distorted. It’s an unpleasant effect that you cannot see with the IPS matrix of the iPhone 4 or the two current best AMOLED technologies (ClearBlack and SuperAMOLED)."
                  "
"In general we see the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc display as a significant update over its X10 predecessor and all upgraders will certainly be happy with it. Yet, depending on whether you look at your phone from a wide angle often and whether you like a bit of extra saturation, it might fall short from the best on the market."

So what u think abhi which is good or best screen Super AMOLED Plus of samsung or reality display of Sony Ericsson ?

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc - The Ultimate Multimedia Device.

1// First thing to mention, is the fantastic design, it's simply the most eye catching design we've ever seen from Sony Ericsson, the Arc shape makes it absolutely comfortable to hold in both landscape and portrait modes, and with extraordinary light weight at 117g and the premium build quality, we just can't expect a better body for a device with 4.2 inch screen!

2// On the body you can see the power button and micro HDMI out port at the top, first mic and the lanyard loop at the bottom, standard audio jack at the left, notification LED light (unique feature), micro USB port, volume rockers and the dedicated camera key (rare feature between Android based handsets) at the right, 8mp camera lens, LED flash, second mic (for noise cancelation and stereo recording) and the loud speaker at the rear, and at the front you notice the ear piece, proximity sensor and three hardware keys: menu, home and back buttons. And of course, I didn't mention the screen because you can barely see the edge between the screen and the black border surrounding it when the screen is off! And this beauty might be available in three colors!! Surprised, huh?! There are two official colors, Misty silver and Midnight blue, but a pink version has appeared on web too (for Ntt DOCOMO in Japan) .

3// In term of hardware, Arc has everything to run the Android 2.3 gingerbread fast and smooth, 1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255, 512MB of RAM and 320MB of internal storage. And no need to be worry about the internal storage since you can install everything on your memory card with gingerbread.

4// This device has the most customized and customizable UI. Plus with Timescape and Mediapane. The Xperia UI is so beautiful and gives you full control to change things as you see fit. For example you can sort your main menu desirably and you can make folders easily by dropping an icon on the other one. And you can’t miss the cool overview mode that shows all your widgets in one screen, all you have to do is pinch and you can see all your widget large enough instead of seeing all home screens with tiny widgets.

Now let’s get to business and see why they call it "The Ultimate Multimedia Device"

The Camera, Screen (image output) and loud speaker (audio output) are the most involved parts regarding to multimedia matters, so let’s take a look at them:

5// Camera: Arc has an 8mp auto focus camera which features Touch focus, image stabilization, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, with LED flash and capable of recording videos at 720P HD 30fps, But that doesn't end here, Because you have the award winning Exmore R mobile sensor which has twice sensitivity compared to normal sensors and it means that you'll get much better images in low light conditions! You think that’s all?! No, you're wrong! Because above all other camera phones, we get an extraordinary feature for video recording and it's the "Continuous auto focus feature", that means you don't need to be worry about the lens distance from anything while you're taking videos! Isn’t it cool? Yeah I know :-P

6// Screen: This device has an LED-backlit LCD, 4.2 inch at 480×854 capacitive multitouch screen, which is scratch-resistant too, capable of showing 16m colors and recognizing up to 32 points at once, now you might ask what's the point of recognizing 32 points at once?! I’d say that this just shows how powerful and responsive the screen is really! And let me tell you that this isn't JUST another LCD! They have put the amazing "Mobile Bravia Engine" on this device. And it means that you have brighter, sharper and super natural colored images! And again, that's not all! They’ve done something else with screen so it has much less reflection, so thumbs up for the brilliant sunlight visibility of the screen!

7// HDMI output: well, beside the very nice screen you get full HDMI out too! so you can see not only your gallery on your HD TV, but in fact you'll be able to see the entire UI on it, so just plug it to your HD TV and start playing angry bird! Everyone will be surprised :-)

8// Audio output: Thanks god! unlike their other recent phones, this one has an excellent loud speaker, very loud and high quality...plus the 3.5mm headphone jack that it'll give you great audio quality for sure, since you have nice equalizers too. So don't worry about the sound at all.

In the end, believe me or not, this is an absolutely unique smart phone. Some people call it The Android Smartphone with luxurious advantages! Suit yourself and call it whatever you like but … wait! No need to look for power button, Press the home key, swipe to unlock ... now enjoy this beauty! … And hey! Get the hold of yourself! It’s just a phone ;-)

I hope I can get this phone once released. A huge leap from the X10.

OT: my officemate just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab and compared the clarity of the screen with my 10 monht old X10. she was a bit disappointed because my X10's screen was clearer.

SO, the ultimate question, for me, as I understand a lot of people have, which phone.
I need inter-connectivity b/w my hardware and software at home.
Active sync for my live account is important. I believe that android can do this. Am I correct?
Can the Arc do Remote Play to the PS3?
If I plug the Arc into my Sony TV I believe that I can use the sync function of the reomte control to control the phone. Can I surf the web while doing this? Can I plug my wireless keyboard and mouse into my TV and control the phone?
DLNA. Can I stream media from other DLNA devices (PC, PS3 ect...)

Can someone please tell me if the Xperia Arc will run on the AWS network like the Xperia x10 does. is it compatible with t-mobile in US and Wind mobile in canada? those companies run on the AWS network. Thanks.

What's the SAR value and what is all about the rumor that we can't use focus over 2MP?
