Nick, 05 Apr 2011I really don't understand some posts here... what's all the... moreAgreeing with Nick, this isnt a forum to bash other brands, compare if u want, give your opinoins but dont start flaming eachother.

i currently own a x10 since last year may.. which hasnt given me any problems beside me breaking the screen :( but i mean it works perfecting regardless :P

And with regards to the "front facing camera" that isnt something which is useful to everyone in every country, i mean would u pay more money for a service which 90% of ppl dont even use? it just makes it more pricy.

come here, give opinions, and hands on advice, but please go away if u here to bash.

I really don't understand some posts here... what's all the fuss about burn-in and low resolution screen??? The Arc's display is really cristal clear and the contrast is just superb. I put it next to a Samsung AMOLED device and apart from the deeper blacks, there's nothing between them...
Furthermore, I think SE has developed this handset for a specific audience, so stop bashing SonyEricsson products just because you assume they're no good.

nick, 05 Apr 2011my phone being produced in south korea is totally irrelevan... moreIf you aren't a Samsung fanboy, I don't really get why you troll the Arc-board. Why not go to the Samsung boards and chat with your pals?

The Arc is an excellent phone for the money and the screen is great too by all accounts.

With AMOLED, you have deeper blacks and more vivid colors, you simply trade the danger of burn-in and the lower sharpness (because of the pentile matrix, pre Super AMOLED plus) for that.

That's a factor for a lot of people, myself included. I used an AMOLED Samsung before the Arc, I know what I'm talking about.

Samsung has a history of releasing unfinished products, and not giving a damn after the release.

They shouldn't have released the GS with the laggy file-system and the bad GPS, and a screen that's so prone to burn-in doesn't belong in a mobile device where a status bar is on screen most of the time. Use it in the official docking station or as a sat nav and you'll have burn-in in no time.

Their slow updates didn't help either.

If they get their act together, I'd happily buy another Samsung, I really liked the true black of the AMOLED. But if you just ignore all the problems with their devices, they won't change. SE didn't ignore the critics and unlocked the bootloader - I wouldn't have bought the Arc it if they didn't.

I'm not a SE fanboy either, I had phones from almost every manufacturer over the past few years, including Samsung.

my phone being produced in south korea is totally irrelevant. we live in a global market. It doesnt depreciate any more quickly and than other phone?!

the screen is fantastic. such vivid colours and deep blacks, something that an LCD cannot reproduce.

Lag? LOL are you joking? the galaxy s flies!!! admittedly back in the 2.1 days samsung should have got their act together and fixed the stupid filesystem, but on a personal level, I have a custom rom and the ext4 filesystem so the phone runs like a dream.

GPS was a small batch of galaxy s phones. mine is totally unaffected, though I will admit my old HTC did have a better GPS chip. overall as a package though, the galaxy s is awesome.

fanboy? I own an array of phones! I just buy whatever is best at the time

AnonD-5320, 05 Apr 2011what is burn in? i see some of you guys talking about that,... moreDon't worry, Snoopy.

"Burn-in" describes the fact that some screen technologies lose luminance when the show the same picture long enough, e.g. a broadcasting logo or a status bar. You burn-in those elements permanently, they are always visible. It happens only with CRTs, Plasmas (both because they are phosphor based) and OLEDs (because the stuff that illuminates is organic and degrades with use).

The ARC has an LCD, no problem here. Samsung phones have active matrix OLEDs (AMOLED), and burn-in is very common.

You love your galaxy S = fine / We love our Xperia Arc = fine too. Why you have to come in here and start making a fuss by comparing this and that? Like some of the comments here, not a single phone on this planet is perfect!

Each phone have advantage and disadvantage to it. If you keep comparing them, then there is no end to it as new phone/flagship keep popping out every few month. So just chill man~

If you want to compare like there is no tomorrow, i suggest you go each of every new or upcoming phone section and start comparing against them.

How can this be the best phone (alleged) when one of the basic pre requisites for 3G performance is a secondary camera for video calling and this does not have one. Pretty crap if you ask me.
