Anonymous, 04 Apr 2011Will the Arc's display suffer from screen burn? No, a LCD display cannot burn-in. At the most (though highly unlikely nowadays), you can have image retention, but it's not permanent and disappears with some time.

AMOLED displays on the other hand "burn-in" permanently, but it's more of a "burn-out": They are made of organic matter, and lose luminosity every time they are switched on. The bad thing is, blue pixels age a lot faster than the rest.

                          The result? This:

                          Cool, huh?

                            http://www.google.com/search?q=galaxy+s+burn+in&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:de:official&client=firefox-a

You have burn-in on your phone, blue pixels age faster than the rest, there's no way around it. You just don't want to see it because you're a typical Samsung fanboy.

AMOLED technology is not suited for mobile phones. The pentile matrix of the Super AMOLED was meant to reduce the effects of blue pixel aging, with the new Super AMOLED plus without the pentile matrix, burn-in will happen even faster.

I bought my Arc last week, so far no issues detected. Only minor setback is that I can't find the AZERTY keyboard when the language is set to Dutch. And there should be one as AZERTY is the standard for the Netherlands/Belgium... Battery seems to hold on for 2/3 days depending on the usage. And the screen is quite nice to be honest.

Great phone and for me is the best phone in the market until SGS2 hits the stores. I can't wait until I have it.

It would help if everyone understood targeting. This phone, just like every other phone, is targeted at a certain individual thus will NOT have features to please everyone. I'm not into gaming or any other demanding hobby that would require massive specs on a phone. I WILL buy this for its looks, the fact that I can make and receive calls/smses/blah blah, and all the other simple stuff I need on a phone. I'm buying it to show off not to hack into the Pentagon. I'm buying it cos I know I will have to buy another one next year with better specs and more appealing at the time. A phone IS NOT an investment. I've always used Nokia and this will be my first non-nokia-phone and I like it!

classic sony ericsson owners, hyping up minor problems. I have had my SGS for about 8 months now and I have no burn in. Ill let you know when it becomes obvious.

i just dont understand why you lot throw your money at phones which are always 1 step behind the competition? the screen isnt as good and the phone has a weak GPU.

Some people just don't like oversaturated colors and burn-in after a few months.
