I love my Sonyericsson Xperia Arc! I've had mine for about 7mths and couldn't imagine life without it now, its like a member of the family! kids love listening to music on the player and we listen to the tunein radio app as we get ready for the day ahead. The Camera spec and functionality is in a league of its own, when you try to compare with some other phones its quite amusing!

We love looking at pics on the tv thanks to the HDMI connector. I think when we got to Florida in June that the 3d sweep will capture many magic moments.

The durability of the phone never ceases to amaze me, its been in many situations where the screen could've scratched very badly, but no! its still like new.

The size of the phone couldn't be more perfect, not too big,not too small, just right and the curve ensures the phone fits perfectly in your hand.

Can't wait to upgrade to Arc s in Jan, whoohoo!

I think the Arc is an amazing phone I’ve always had Sony Ericsson’s over the last 10 years, and Ericsson Prior to the merging of Sony… I’ve been tempted with other brands but I always go back to them, for their durability and reliability…. For me this handset I can honestly say still makes me smile, its got a beautiful design, sleek curve that makes it perfect fit in my hand, and hasn’t let me down. I’ve taken it to various festivals even abroad to Italy with the England WTKA team to capture photos and videos, and I definitely put it through its paces….. for me Exmor R CMOS sensor was brilliant for capturing high-quality, bright pictures and videos even in poor light conditions, and when it won the Best camera phone 2011-2012 (EISA award), it came as no surprise.

My phone is permanently attached to me…. It’s everything I need, I can download me music, and listen to it, the in ear headphones sounds great
Watching films or videos on youtube is enhanced by the mobile Bravia engine, and with the HDMI cable included in the box I can connect to my HD TV and view my pictures and videos…. Is a bonus.

One feature I do love is the integration of contacts and photos from facebook, especially not having to load fb all the time to view me pictures as they are easily accessible in the gallery… oh yeah n for making calls n texts as well!!

I currently work for o2 and what a better endorsement than from a senior o2 Device Manager stating the Xperia range this year have continued to have very low return rates, they are more stable, the overall quality vastly improved and the hardware is far better. Stating “the after sales performance and the Arc and Neo are currently amongst the best of all android device”

With the launch of the Xperia Arc S with its 1.4GHz superfast processor, improving on an already amazing phone…. Cant wait to see what else Sony can bring in 2012….

I definitely give it 10/10 for style, usability and performance

ustu, 29 Nov 2011Ok, now i got the picture clearly, thanks to my good friend... moreHi Ustu and Malaysia,

I tried the apps you suggested.

Dolphin browser is good browser and can Youtube videos but not from many other sites. And saving a page does not save the video, neither does any browser even on a PC.

The video downloader apps are crap. Not at all helpful.

And Video catcher I guess will do the trick but not on all sites. In some websites it works and in some others it does not. Depends on which sites you want to download videos from. There is a video in youtube that shows how to download videos using video catcher, i guess those would be the only sites supported by it. LOL!!!

So, as I had mentioned earlier there is no allrounder app that can download flash videos from all websites but the quest continues...

Everything about this handset is awesome, the look of the handset is unlike anything else available, with the Arc shaped back making it stand out with super style. The screen is really vibrant and with the addition of the Sony Bravia engine makes viewing media content a flawless experiance. Running Android 2.3 currently with hopefully in the future an update to 4.0 puts this handset top. The camera features Sonys Exmoor R which makes this a breeze capturing those ultra impressive snaps. A great phone choice for anyone in the market.

Hi Everyone, just wanted to say how impressed I was with this amazing smartphone from Sony Ericsson. I have now been using this as my primary handset for 6 months. The Arc has pretty much amazed me on every aspect from the 8mp HD camera with Exmor R to its sexy sleek slimline design. Future proofed with new updates for ice cream sandwich, 1gb processor, bravia engine, inter-graded with facebook app, 3d sweep panorama option.. what more do you want? Give it a go, you'll not be disappointed!

ustu, 30 Nov 2011Wow, buddy! So u got a bravia! That's fantastic. Congratula... moreHi ustu,
Actually my dad put the money for the tv and I suggested the brand, that's all.

I honestly didn't know that gsmarena had done a review on Bravia technology. Thanks for the link. I knew Bravia is not a marketing hype but I didn't have evidence to prove it till now. I said that Bravia is real to the ones who say that it is a marketing hype. If you check past few months comments here, we can see many people saying that it is a hype. My statement was to them.

And I shall check Dolphin browser and other apps you suggested. Less work at office. LOL!!!

AnonD-3744, 29 Nov 2011Thank you very much, Ajmal Basheer, for the explanation and... moreWOW you got a 3D Bravia!!! I wanted the 3D but I could only afford the LED Bravia...

The old glass screen(picture tube) televisions are somewhat 480p or 480i or something like that. That is why we don't have any problem in viewing cable tv signals on it. But today's lcd and led tvs are high resolution when compared to the cable signal we receive. But Bravia does a good job in minimizing the pixelation and reproducing the image with better quality...

I've had an Xperia arc since mid April, and I still love it! The other top-end Android phones, like the Galaxy S II and the Sensation, have just never done it for me. Maybe I just fall for branding, but I do like the sound of having Exmor R and a Mobile BRAVIA Engine on my phone.

But not only do I like the thought of the Mobile BRAVIA Engine, I really think I can see the difference. I Bluetoothed the demo FINAL FANTASY XIV OPENING MOVIE that came with the arc, onto a Galaxy S II, hit play on both of them at the same time, and I can honestly say that the Reality display actually genuinely did show the greens and the skin-tones more realistically than Galaxy S II, and that the blacks looked better on the arc, in my opinion.

Also, the camera is one of the most important things for me on my phones, these days when there's no shortage of phones which can do everything, and how good its photos and videos are, is one of the things which really differentiates one phone from another these days. And as far back as I can remember Sony Ericsson have had the best cameras on their high-end phones, going back to the K750, or even the K700! And the camera on the arc is definitely absolutely brilliant. With the expertise and technology Sony Ericsson can bring from an experienced camera manufacturer like Sony, such as the Exmor R for mobile sensor, you can really see the difference between the camera on the arc and those on other high-end handsets, especially in the low-light conditions it claims. And I'm not the best photographer, but I've been able to see some photos other people have taken with the arc, people with a better eye for these sorts of things than me, and they do look very nice and impressive.

To make this a balanced review, I guess I'd have to say that the arc isn't as smooth as the iPhone for example, when you're using it. But after getting used to the screen on the arc, going back to the screen on the iPhone it's just too small for using the Internet or watching YouTube videos. And even though Adobe themselves are going the way of Apple and going against Flash, there is still no shortage of websites which use Flash, which I can't view on my iPhone.

So all in all, right now, if I had to have just one phone, it'd have to be one of the Xperias with all of their Android smartphone goodness, together with the best cameras around. Even though I've been lucky enough to replace my iPhone 4 with a 4S on the day it launched, my Sony Ericsson Xperia arc is still my main phone.

Ajmal Basheer, 29 Nov 2011Hey Ustu, since we had talked about upgrading to cyanogenmo... moreWow, buddy! So u got a bravia! That's fantastic. Congratulations! I'm dreaming of a bravia for around 5/6 years, anyway, I'm going after this after buying a tab.

Whatever, sorry for my delay, i was offnet for around 8/9 hours, something went wrong with my data connection.now, afaik, cyanogenmod 7.1 still don't support HDMI Connectivity, XLoud, & our beloved Bravia Engine, though they r working on it, hopefully they will fix it in cyanogenmod 7.2.& when everything comes to the end, there comes the XDA guys.they already fix this problem, but it's still in kind of beta format, so people like us shouldn't try this.that's all i can say.

Btw, I was a little bit surprised reading ur post.don't u really know that Bravia Engine is not just a marketing hype, it really works well? Even in gsmarena, they tried to test it & concluded that it really works quite well.here is the link:-

Now, Dolphin browser hd fully supports flash content, so when u save a page using Dolphin browser hd, it should copy the page with the flash contents as well.

For downloading videos, pls, try these apps from market, among these, may be u should find one useful---Video Downloader/Lite, VIDEO DOWNLOADER, WebVideoDownloader/Lite, Video Catcher.

Tho I'm not sure if I understood the difference between both video modes in technical - a bit complicated for me to understand, I'm noob - I can see now why the pictures from my cable tv programs could not be as good as if I watched them before on my old glass screen tv. Currently using a Sony BRAVIA 3D, and the wiki article says that it naturally is a progressive display, some visible artifacts will be visible while playing interlaced video.

                                    Thanks and regards

Hey Ustu, since we had talked about upgrading to cyanogenmod I have a doubt. We have BRAVIA option that can be disabled and enabled on our default OS, but if we install cyanogenmod, would BRAVIA be defaulted to on at all times or off? How would it be?

The reason I'm concerned about BRAVIA is because, I recently bought Sony BRAVIA Full HD Television and played a normal DVD rip movie on it. The file had a resolution of 600x272 which is very small compared to the 1080p screen. I didn't feel any problem in the image reproduction, no pixelation. Later I played the same file on my computer, which has a Samsung 1080p monitor and the image was pixelated. That is when I actually noticed that I did not have this problem in the TV and that is when I actually checked the resolution of the file. Then I played the file on my Arc, no pixelation. So, I feel that it is the BRAVIA that is doing the trick. So BRAVIA is not just a marketing trick, that thing really works and does wonders. Sony ROCKS!!!
