Rain, 03 Aug 2012Hi - I have an Xperia Arc S and I updated it with iCS thro ... moreOf course I do recommend rooting. Only this way you can remove bloatwares to make ur phone run faster. You can uninstall Mcafee, Timescape, ANT+ and ANT service. These are totally useless apps taking a huge ram and space. If you have "office pro" then you don't need built-in "office viewer" anymore, so uninstall that too. Just root your ICS first, then download a free app called "Root uninstall", then use "root uninstall" app to uninstall built-in apps. this phone is awesome! the only problem is has short battery life.. if you use the internet and games, you can used the phone about 4 to 6 hrs only. . if only calls and text, the battery last one day only, maximum!

hii i upgraded to ICS and since then most of applications stop and it ruined alot of my work,, what should i do ? should i upgrade to ICS 4.1 beta or should i downgrade to gingerbread?and how to do that downgrade?

I have this phone a fewdays back. its a nice phone but i dont get how a 1.4 Ghz phone can be so slow?? some apps don't run properly... is there anybody who is having the same problem?

I would like to install Link2SD app which requires rooting of the phone. The purposes of installing this app is only to move most of the apps to SD card. Though I have APP2SD certain applications could not be moved to SD card. Would you recommend rooting? What are the other apps that can be removed from the phone? An interesting fact is that, Arc S has GLONASS beside of GPS. GLONASS is a radio-based satellite navigation system operated for the Russian government by the Russian Aerospace Defence Forces. That means, GLONASS is a Russian version of GPS. Gsmarena should add this in it's specification page. Look what is written in "Whitepaper" pdf (whitepaper_EN_lt18_xperia_arc_s.pdf) of Xperia Arc S specification:

* NOTE: GPS and GLONASS are used together to calculate the position. With both systems active, the accuracy and robustness of the positioning is better in most conditions. And if you could root ur ICS to remove unnecessary built-in apps, it'd be wonderful. It works like a charm. My Arc S battery lasts almost twice after doing this. Also you've to use auto cache and task killer.
