I am having a couple of issues with the arc s. First... moreMight be Camera and browser apk are corrupted
these two apk are system apk (Location /system/app)
u can`t delete / replace these apk files
replacing / deleting of system apk required superuser permission (root access)
Alternate solution (more effective)
download flashtool from this link

Install it into C drive ,
after installing
delete the old firmware (from this location C:\Flashtool\firmwares) if you found any
download Xperia arc Global firmware from this link

Exract the above downloaded file into C:\Flashtool\firmwares
open flash tool , at the top panel click on flash sign , before lock sign
select flashmode , for next windows just press OK
unplug ur phone from pc if connected
power off ur device
press and hold the back button & attach your phone to ur pc/laptop via datacable
"don`t release back button while attaching ur phone"
color of notification will be green
flashing starts , it will take maximum 2-3minutes !
after flashing remove ur handset,
power on ur phone , first boot will take some time
after booting , turn on your wifi , it will notify you a system upgrade , upgrade it , it will hardly take 2minutes (depends on ur internet connection speed) after up gradation ur phone will restart
Now your arc s is just like new , error and problem free :)
now if you want to upgrade to ICS ,u can upgrade ur phone via Sony Pc Companion !

Hi
I am having a couple of issues with the arc s. Firstly the camera doesn't work anymore, all I get now is 'unfortunately camera has stopped'. Why?
Also every time I use google or the browser, after a short period of time it will send me back to google search page or will compleaty close the app and go back to my desktop. Why? It's very annoying.
The phone was brilliant when I first got it back it has taken a drastic slide.
Can someone help or give advice on how to rectify the problems?

Kernel is King of OS (Operating System)
kernel sits between hardware and software , Kernel contains all information about ur phone hardware and Software (OS)...Without kernel OS is Nothing
Android is based on linux
Android Kernels can increase stability , add some features or increase battery timing of handset
Many custom roms like cyanogenmod , Jelly bean , MIUI required custom kernels , u cannot install these rom with locked bootloader.
Rooting gives u root access / superuser privilege to ur device (Like in windows Administrator Account gives u all rights to change anything)
bootloader contains the booting information of OS
bootloader install in boot partition
u cannot access this partition unless ur bootloader unlocked
To install custom kernel like u mentioned in ur post , required unlocked bootloader

suppose ur mobile is rooted , and u are using gingerbread 2.34 , if you upgrade ur phone to ICS 4.04 via sony pc companion , it will remove root access !
and u have to root ur mobile again using my 2nd guide "rooting on ICS"

u said that u had to go to sony service center second time , they also flash your rom with official sony rom to fix this issue
