i have upgraded to ics 4.0.4 and after that did a full factory reset. now its super fast and no problem at all. only problem is phone getting very hot with heavy use. anyone know why?

This phone is outclass, much better then any dual core phones out there. My recommendation is too root it the time u get it. I have been using it for quiet long and i had zero problems with it. Not even a single hangup. The sound quality is superb much better then Galaxy Series and yes i must say highly customizable as it has a large development community.
Worth every single buck, Sony Ericsson did left its legacy with this phone. I wish Sony adapts it.
P.S: As for guys complaining about lag, make sure u update to the latest OS, the lag completely finishes, if still unsatisfied go for rooting and remove the bloatware. This bit** gets much smoother then butter.

Had much trouble with this one bkz of 512 ram and 512 for phone applications. This meant that it freezes and became slow a lot of time, and that there is no space to install application.
Not recommended.

The X1 and X2 have been plagued by build quality issues. The X2 though went the extra mile and had horrendous software issues as well. In both cases however, the keyboard would crack after a few weeks of use, kinda like the W580 and S500 Sony Ericsson phones (read, poor product quality testing by Sony Ericsson).
Ironically, the Arc S and the Arc also suffer from poor product quality checks (notably the cracks above the proximity sensor).
On a completely different subject. There are some rumous on the Sony Mobile forums that a Jelly Bean OS is actually in the works for the Arc, Arc S, and the Ray. A phone user in Germany apparently was told this by the Sony Service Centre people in person. The ETA for the Jelly Bean is apparently in Q1 of 2013. Though we shouldn't expect much from this; service centre people are Tier 1 in terms of hierarchy. Managers would be Tier 2. To be able to know for sure whether we 2011 Xperia users are getting JB one would have to be Tier 4 at least...

it is not supported . do not install it... It needs almost all of ur memory , it is not movable to Sd card ,and also not supported, if u go from play.google.com u will see it is not supported

what the hell is sny doing .. the have denined jelly bean 4.1 upgrade on arc s and current ics is so laggy.
on the other hand XPERIA J with old chipset and i ghz cortex a5 processor will get JELLY BEAN .. WTF!!
now i hate sony X-(

i want to buy an 8 megapixel se phone but as i dont have enough money i'm going to buy a se xperia x2 which is an old one.the only reason i buy it is its camera which is 8 megapixel but i dont know if its as good as arc,neo,ray,pro or not.is there any one who honestly answers my question?thanks in advance.

Hi yuki, I've been using Arc s for 4 months now, Let me give pros&cons so it can help u to decide.
Pros:
Excellent design,Camera and Multimedia features.
UI is very smooth and lag-free especially after upgrading to ICS.
Cons:
Low RAM(512mb) and internal memory(420mb).
New ICS update still has lot of bugs and No Jelly Bean update(no future releases from Sony).
Overall I'm satisfied with this, But I'd recommend S2 as it has more specs than Arc S and S2 will get Jelly Bean update soon.
