i got the xperia mini device, and am suffering of the over heating problem (where the menu and back buttons keep working and i cant operate it)and this happens on using the mob for more than 10 minutes whether am talking or using any application, and they couldnt fix it in the service centre, so DON'T BUY the device as it's problem is not correctable.. the worest device i ever got

iko, 28 Jan 2012i have the same problem about this back and menu button... ... moreFlash it with a custom ROM. It will make you very satisfied trust me. Theres no fear in bricking the phone because it can be fixed easily without going to the SE service center. Im happy with my xperia mini now. :-)

The best thing to do with an Android phone is to flash it with custom ROM. It helps remove the Overheating issue and OC's your MINI to 2GHZ. It helps manage your RAM to optimize performance. :-) Im using CM7.2 and its awesome in my Mini so far. I cant wait for the ICS update. :-)

From the issues that you have described we would suggest that you update the Software on your Sony Ericsson handset. This can be done free of charge using our Sony Ericsson Update Service tool. To carry out the update you will need internet access and a USB cable.
It may be the case that user data is lost during this upgrade. We therefore recommend backing up any data to your SIM card, Memory Stick, or PC before upgrading.
Please follow the steps below to download and install the update service software:

3. Select the W995 (not the Xperia mni)
4. Click on Downloads
5. Below the Update Service, select ‘Read more and Download’

I did the same and it got fixed and now i have no issues with my mobile.

iko, 28 Jan 2012i have the same problem about this back and menu button... ... moretry taking it to the service centre and ask them to do a calibration fix...or you can try the method told in the xda forum if you dont have the warrenty and have the courage to take a risk.

i got the same problem.i updated it to 2.3.4. last dec. this jan, it always going back to the menu, i cannot write a msg, or even load a game.this prob comes and go,i notice it this will start after charging, or after a call.when the phone is hot.any ideas how can i go back to 2.3.3?tnx

Contact groups , you can manage in two ways. Use a google account contacts and disable phone contacts(contacts/menu/filter). Then create groups in gmail contacts and synchronise. The groups will appear in phone. Or if you want to create groups in phone contacts itself, get a suitable app like 'touchpal dialer'. But it will be difficult to back up groups created in PHONE contacts.
For profiles also, get an app from the market, like 'my profiles'

i have the same problem about this back and menu button... it keeps appearing and it is very annoying.. i cant write message correctly...so i decided to update it... but it did not fix the problem...it so depressing.. worst of all.. the store where i bought the phone.. scolded me that i shouldn't update its version... even though it is recommended by the sony ericsson... and they also said that.. i should not download programs for at least 10 days after i purchased the phone... i didnt get their point... they make me look stupid about it... because they are blaming me about the defect of the phone..i want my money back...t.t im not satisfy about the product...
