Presently bill is the important valid document for warranty at SE ASC. Even if you produce warranty card, it should be accompanied by the bill. But the bill alone can stand.
However the retailer will not have objection in signing the warranty certificate in the box, if you insist on that.
And if You get the mini with Android 2.3.3, You will be notified soon about the 2.3.4 update. I recommend You do it by PC companion rather than over air.

I visited a few retailers yesterday(Chandigarh, India).. some of them said that the warranty card isn't in the box, and that the warranty is applicable and valid if u take along with you the original bill(they said they'll do the billing online... dunno what the hell they meant) ,so there is no need of warranty card for warranty.. Is it really so? Or are the retailers foxing things up??
And could you please let me know the manufacturing date of the Mini that haven't encountered any problems? Coz I heard that a new batch of phones was shipped out with all calibrations done at the manufacturer-end, and that this batch of phones isn't facing any problems whatsoever.

Anyhow you would have got the answer now from another post below.
Memory card files are safe. Another application for backing up downloaded apps (if you doubt you'll loose them) is 'App backup and restore'. It can backup/restore in batch. Also it automatically backup an app when it is installed(option) and override new versions as updates come so that you can revert to the older version if you like(option).
These apps can only back up the installation files, not data(otherwise root required). But almost all android apps have option to backup data if any to memory card. Hope you'll make use of that.

If you want to save your downloaded apps, install appSaver from market. This app will scan all the installed applications and lists their APK files so you can save them to sd card or to hard disk. But note that it doesn't work with pre installed apps, if you think you should also have back up of pre installed apps you can use file manager and browse the phone memory to find them manually in /system/app.

I've heard news about problem from Xperia mini like overheating,unnecessary vibration and menu and back buttons keep working automatically. I would like to konw these problems occur only after the update or even after buying the phone ? Is there a way to update without these problems if its cause by the update ? Some1 pls leave comment cause i was planing to buy this model if it's ok

3. After the update, my phone heats up at times. But no other problem/damage its caused by heating
4. That depends on what screen area you require for top typing. Using qwerty in portrait is not easy for me. But using the 12 key phone pad is very comfortable. Using qwerty in landscape is not bad. If you use t9 and use touch pal keyboard with curve (swipe ) enabled, then typing is easy like a, breeze
5. Absence of front camera, battery not very good. Occasional restating issues for me.

My XPERIA Mini is about 2 months old. I upgraded it to 2.3.4 coz i was curious about the updates. After updating, the TV off mode during screen off was changed, screen shot was added by pressing(long press) the POWER button. (NOT BAD:)It really works good,fast, no heating,no unnecessary vibration or what so ever.I cant wait for the update this coming end of MARCH:)
